Excellent family weekend for our large group of 18. The house had everything we needed and plenty of space. The location was ideal and the sunset’s unforgettable.
The property was honestly incredible, everyone kept saying how nice it was and we would happily book this location again. We visited in November for my mother’s 50th birthday with our family and a group of their friends, would love to stay here again in the summer when you can take advantage of the outdoor space. 10/10 would recommend.
Our large family group had an excellent weekend. This house has fabulous views. It is definitely set up for larger groups. There were enough dishes, pots and pans, glasses - everything you need to cook. Beds were all comfortable. Decks were used constantly. Looking forward to coming again.
We brought 3 generations of family from across the country for a week in northern Michigan. The house allowed us to have lots of communal time on the main level which had lots of seating, a huge dining table, room for puzzles and time on the deck for incredible sunsets. Loved having 2 refrigerators! We could spread out to the other levels for privacy. Frankfurt was close for shopping. Lots of public access beaches at Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake nearby. Lovely secluded setting. Another family was having reunion next door and we coexisted nicely. Loved the outdoor fire pits. Communication with host was great. Plenty of dishes and cookware in the kitchen. We loved it!!!

Thanks Anne! So glad you had a great time! Please come back and see us again!
Very large property with lovely setting
No issues with 4 fridges total and tons of dish ware etc
Could walk trash to dumpster which was very convenient
Weather was good but it was hard to enjoy the breeze off the water with only one screen door of the many glass sliding doors in the rooms
If we left the doors open without screens to cool down we invited spiders and flies in
So this should be remedied to enjoy the amazing breeze
This was a small inconvenience in an overall experience that was wonderful

We appreciate the feedback. Sorry about the screens, we have magnetic screens being installed. With the sand, normal screens get stuck and dog run into them, we find we have to replace often so the magnetic ones will hopefully solve the issues. Glad you enjoyed the stay.
We had a great time staying at the Birch house! It was huge, beautiful and well-equipped. The views of Lake Michigan from the bluffs were truly spectacular. The owner was communicative, accommodative, and very quick to reply. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay at your house!
Best view in Michigan. This was the perfect place for our biannual family reunion. We took turns preparing dinner each night and ended the week with my daughter’s wedding and reception on Saturday. The management was so nice to work with on the wedding preparation. And they responded quickly for one minor repair in one of the bathrooms. I highly recommend Lake Bluff Preserve for any family gathering, especially weddings.
We were 7 adults and 12 children. Four story home with a common area on each floor to give everyone lots of space. Plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms. Very nice wraparound deck for morning/afternoon shade or sunshine. The only potential negative is that the home could use more refrigerator space and kitchen space with a large group of 15 or more.

We loved the property. This was probably one of the best vacation rentals we've ever stayed at. I would come back and we probably will next summer!

Overall the we were very happy with the house. The views are amazing.
There is no air conditioning in the house and it can get uncomfortable at night if there is no wind.
An extra refrigerator or a larger refrigerator would have nice.

It was nice to have you stay with us Pranav. Thank you for your feedback!
Large open spacious great for a large group. Beds were comfy and views spectacular.
Thank you: This place is fantastic.
Just a few tiny suggestions to make it even better some kitchen supplies for 20+ people such as: A tea kettle, a few large serving platters, and an ottoman, to put your feet up. We would love to come back and rent this place - a second fridge is needed with this many people.
Beautiful modern house with great views of Lake Michigan in idyllic natural setting
The house and property are gorgeous. The climb down the rope ladder to the beach is rather challenging and scary but the brave ones among us made it and it was worth the effort! Everyone in our retreat group of 15 loved the house. The main floor layout was perfect for our meals and indoor group gatherings- the island in the kitchen works very well for several people cooking together and serving themselves. The big dining room table was welcoming and lovely. Our only regret was that we did not have more free time to relax in and around the house. The bluff and the decks leading to the lake are very inviting and one instantly feels relaxed and enthralled by the beauty of the sand dunes and plants, sky and water.
Here's where improvements could be made: better communication before our stay would have been helpful. Check in instructions arrived the day before, with a different, much earlier check in time- but it was too late to change our plans to take advantage of the opportunity. Written directions to the property were not clear enough - it's very hard for first-time visitors to find the turnoff onto the unpaved road (which doesn't have a sign) from Michigan Ave. The bath towel situation is unacceptably skimpy- there are not nearly enough, and they are too small and thin. There were no kitchen towels, sponges, scrub pads or pot holders. In our pre-trip communication we stated we would be using two sleeper couches, but there were no sheets or blankets or pillows for them once we arrived. Bathrooms lacked towel racks and hooks. There wasn't enough toilet paper, kleenex, shampoo or soap. More coffee mugs were needed. These are basic details that would be easy to take care of once and for all, and would meet expectations one would have for such a gorgeous house. We considered these minor annoyances, and the manager responded promptly to our needs.
Overall we LOVED our stay and would gladly return.

What a view!
We had a great time but there were some house drawbacks. There was a houseful of our family but there were two pots one Dutch oven and one ten inch fry pan. A little hard to make any meals. Come on! One towel per person and they were thin as can be. NOT ONE TOWEL RACK IN THE BATHROOMS! Home Away stated there were four queen suites. There were only two. This was a disappointment. We still had a great time. The view was great. Had fun going down the stairs and ladder to the water. Not easy but the young people did it. I would recommend it but you’d better bring some pots and pans. Not many places for such a large group to be together. Thankful to find a place.
Spacious lake house with gorgeous views and gourmet kitchen
Birch House was great for our family reunion with large rooms, well-supplied kitchen, comfortable beds, fire pit surrounded by high-backed benches and wrap-around decks for watching the sunset and recalling the days adventures.
Nearby Frankfurt with its lovely shops and beautiful beach has a walkway out to the lighthouse. On the other end of Crystal Lake is the charming community of Beulah, home to the Cherry Hut and bagel shop. The kids enjoyed the outdoor drive in theater, canoeing on the Platte River and running down the sand at Sleeping Bear Dunes (about 45 minutes north). Point Betsie Lighthouse and the Gwen Frostic printers and stationary shop are other fun outings.
With so much to do there is plenty to talk about in the long and beautiful evenings at this lovely bluff lake house. We flew kites thru the dune grass. If you have little kids you might want to avoid the fabled stairway to Lake Michigan 300 feet down. It is far enough away from the house not to be too worrisome. Older kids loved running down the stairs.
Rick, the manager, was responsive and helpful making our stay fun for all.

A perfect winter weekend on the shore of lake Michigan!
We were a large university group doing a department retreat, and this property was perfect for us. The large number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas was a huge plus for our group, and everything was spotless clean when we arrived. There were plenty of towels and linens for everyone to be confortable. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, silverware, and cups/mugs. The kitchen appliances worked well. We did wish we had a larger frying pan/wok for cooking since we had a large group, but there were enough pots and pans to make it work anyways. Walter, the host, was very accomodating and communicative. He answered multiple questions via text during our stay, and kept us updated on conditions since there was a snowstorm the weekend we arrived. The views from the property are stunning, and the walk down to the beach was straightforward. I couldn't recommend the place more for a large group. I hope we are able to return next year when we do our next retreat. Thanks Walter!

Unforgettable scenery!
We visited Birch cottage with family ranging in ages from 10 months to 90 years old. It was enjoyable for all! There are steps, but also a spacious master suite on the main floor. The kitchen is well equipped and the kitchen table is perfect for large groups! The decks are wrapped around the house and ideal for playing and admiring the gorgeous views. It's the best of both worlds, pines in the front of property and lake in the back. Frankfort is a charming town with quaint shops and fun eateries. There is a fun public beach as well! The owners of Birch cottage are delightful to work with; very responsive and kind!! We would love to visit again.

Why they chose this property
Lake Bluff Preserve is special because of the land and beauty of the Lake Michigan shoreline and South/West exposure. There are opportunities to find total seclusion or interact with fellow guests in the two other free-standing homes on the bluff.
What makes this property unique
Sweeping Lake Michigan vistas and nightly sunsets make this a very special place to vacation. Stunning views that show why the "Third Coast" is amazing.
