This cabin was exactly what we needed. There’s something so restorative about the silence of the Driftless; without the noise of city life, you’re left with nothing but the peaceful sounds of nature. We left feeling completely recharged and are already dreaming of our next escape to this hidden gem
We have stayed many times in this beautiful home and this time like all the others was perfect! We were able to rest, watch the beautiful birds, enjoy the peace and beauty of the house and the surroundings. We can’t wait to go back!
Unique cabin, peaceful, clean and well-appointed. Simple check-in and check-out. Quiet, secluded location. Lots of wildlife and great star-gazing. We enjoyed our stay.
Clean, modernized but still rustic cabin in the middle of nature! My kids had a great time watching birds in the morning…we may have convinced them to be EXTRA quiet to see the best ones . Overall a great week in nature! Thank you for the lovely place to stay!
We have stayed here many times and it is consistently our favorite getaway for many reasons. The location, amenities, fantastic host and serenity are the best. It is an honor to be able to return to this very special property year after year.
We are stayed here many times in this very special house and property. The only sounds you hear are the birds and the tree frogs. We do a lot of cooking and the kitchen is fully equipped. We absolutely love the fireplace as we have been here many times in the winter. Phyllis responds very quickly to any questions you may have.We also enjoy the location which is so convenient to both Spring Green and Mineral Point.
Had a wonderful stay at this magical cabin. The location is incredible. The cabin had everything you need for a relaxing getaway. And the host is very easily reachable. Thank you for letting us stay at this beautiful place.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was extremely clean, and Phyllis has everything that you could want. It's a very well stocked property. We loved how peaceful and relaxing it was. We used the front and back decks and enjoyed the views from both areas. We cooked all of our meals there and the kitchen had everything and more that we needed. We stayed there as we were going to The House on the Rock. It's within an easy proximity to the House on the Rock and it was a wonderful place to come back to after our day of touring. We will definitely go back to this amazing property if we are in the area. Thank you Phyllis for everything!!!
we love staying at this cabin and do so as often as we can :) it’s quiet, comfortable & the birdwatching is the best. phyllis is a great host as well! we will be back soon.
Beautiful house on a gorgeous property. The property grounds are so peaceful and stunning, especially the view from the spectacular deck! Perfect for nature lovers!
Beautiful property and comfortable home. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Pet friendly was such a bonus as I love traveling with my canine companion Angel.
Beautiful place, well provisioned, quiet, convenient to Spring Green and APT, pet friendly (we had a couple of standard poodles that had a great time exploring), good beds and shower (essential!), and very easy communication with the host. Would happily stay here again.
We had a great time relaxing for a few days! The house was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We stayed warm with the wood stove and played games making great memories. Thank you !!

About the host
Hosted by Phyllis Dyer
This property has been in our family since 1975 when Gene and Elizabeth Stirling bought 30 woodland acres and hired Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice Frank Leach to build them this retirement/summer home. Elizabeth’s son Christopher, Phyllis’s husband, along with many local friends, helped with the construction. Once the house was completed Elizabeth filled it with furniture and décor from her world travels. Her grandchildren came from all over the country to spend their summers here. Christopher built his own family home on the property, up the hill, in 1979. Over the years four generations have lived in this house at different times- including a Taliesin tour guide, Spring Green General Store owners, an editor of the Home News and an American Players Theatre actor. In 2012 Phyllis moved in following Christopher’s passing. She and her son and his wife- an Interior Designer- did extensive renovations to the bathrooms, kitchen and floors. And now Phyllis welcomes her own children and grandchildren who travel cross-country to spend time here every summer. We hope you enjoy our treasured family retreat as much as we have over the years.
