About this property

Old Style Family Beach Cottage

The Krusty Krab is an old fashioned, no frills 1960's beach cottage reminiscent of my family's house on Ocean Isle where I spent summers in the 1970s as a child. I suppose it is my sentimental nature that led me to buy it 10 years ago and that is reflected in the cottage's decor and overall 'vibe'. Since this is my second home (not just a rental property) and I come here often, guests will find a well equipped kitchen and a cozy atmosphere (not to mention a stunning view of the Atlantic). I come here to enjoy the beach, so this is a 'low tech' house. There is a TV in the living room with cable, but none in the individual bedrooms. WiFi is available. The house comfortably sleeps 6 which is the maximum occupancy. Please note that linens are not included with your rental. Smoking is not allowed and pets are not allowed during the season. Pets are considered on a case by case basis in the off season.

BEACH ACCESS: As most know, the island was hit very hard by a hurricane in 2020. The dunes were all wiped out and in response the town did a 'sand push' to create a new dune up and down the beach. What this means is that when you go down the front steps to the beach, you will have a slight 'hill' to go over. This is reflected in the property pictures, but I am glad to answer any specific questions concerning beach access.

Our Own Little Paradise
We had an amazing time at this beach cottage. The cottage has everything you need and then some. It's right on the ocean with amazing views that are mesmerizing. All the personal touches inside the cottage makes you feel right at home, so welcoming. We all was very sad to leave and are already planning our next stay there. The owner is amazing!

relaxing at the beach
The Krusty Krab was a very charming oceanfront house, very clean, very comfortable, very beachy - just what we needed for a relaxing stay. Communications with the owner was easy and quick. Even though this house was perfect for just 2 of us, it could easily fit a family with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a dining table that seats 10! Loved the covered back deck, we saw a dolphin swim by right in front of the house.

Simple and Relaxing
The house had everything we needed and then some. The charm of its classic bungalow style is perfection. It makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into a simpler time and that immediately makes you relax. The covered porch and rockers is where you will spend most of your time if not on the beach! Can’t beat the ease of getting to the beach. House was clean with lots of storage space. The owner Julie is truly a kind soul and pleasure to deal with. We didn’t have to reach out though during our stay even once. We had zero problems and an amazing week.

Home sweet home at beach
Great getaway for three old friends to relax, and reenergize at the beach. Just perfect for us...sitting in rockers on shaded porch looking at the ocean. Or just heading out for walk on beach, or swim. Perfect spot for excursions, in car or biking. Happy place to be!

Truth in advertising
Everything the owner described is true. This house is loved and lived in. I have been in many rentals where you can tell the owner has hardly been there. This place was very clean and was very comfortable with everything you need Hope to be back

About the host

Hosted by Julie Reynolds

Host profile image
I am a NC native currently living in Charleston, SC. My husband is a retired contractor and I work as a paralegal and volunteer rescuing cats and doing TNR (trap, neuter, return) of feral cat colonies. My husband is an Auburn graduate (War Eagle!) and I attended UNC Chapel Hill (GO HEELS!!!)

Why they chose this property

My parents designed and built a house on Ocean Isle Beach very similar to this one in the late 60's. I spent so many wonderful summers there and my mother made sure I was a 100% 'beach girl'. A beach house of my own was always my dream and it came true in 2014 when I found this diamond in the rough. A bit neglected, it sparkles after I put in new windows and doors, put up new siding and a new metal roof and brand new flooring!

What makes this property unique

It's not fancy, but it's my dream house! There's no special lighting or marble counter tops. But it's comfortable and there's rocking chairs on the front porch. We have a closet with books and puzzles. Just forget about your electronic devices, relax and enjoy! You sure can't beat the view....
