This was our 3rd time here, we are already looking forward to a fourth visit after one night back at home. It is in a quiet area in the middle of Cleveland, Cornelia, Demorest, Clarksville and Helen, all less than 15 miles away. My wife enjoys reading on the porch and looking at the lake through the trees with the wind rustling the falling leaves, or, down on the dock.
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at this beautiful lakefront retreat. Everything was appreciated especially the extra touches the owner included to make our stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend this location which is convenient to many types of fun and recreation. Looking forward to our next stay!
Very comfortable home with everything you need to just relax and enjoy a lakefront holiday. Highly recommend for the amenities, cleanliness and comfort. Tucked away, but not isolated. Would definitely return.
Sabine was wonderful in her communication and accommodating our schedule. The property was cozy, peaceful, and ready to settle in. Everything we needed was there for us to enjoy even while the weather was cool and rainy. If you're looking for some entertainment, we found the quaint little town Helen close enough to enjoy the kitchy attractions.
We were happily greeted by a wonderful house with such a down home feel. It was nice to have a high functioning kitchen to save money with breakfast preparation. It was equally as nice to have plush bedding and comfy couches. Let’s not forget watching the fireworks from Helen over the lake. This will be one for the record books. Thanks Sabine!!
My husband and i just returned from 6 nights at Sabine's idyllic retreat. If you are seeking a place that is quiet, beautifully decorated, super clean, with a fully stocked kitchen, cozy bedrooms, overlooking a lovely private lake near quaint towns and outdoor adventures- this is the place! Best. Vrbo. Experience. Ever. If I could rate it 6 stars I would. We are already hoping to stay here again in the near future!
Peaceful place and location, could use a few things
Check-in was easy, and the host was quick to communicate with any questions. Easy drive to Helen and wineries. The house is great, loved looking at all the neat art and decorations. We enjoyed sitting on the porch each morning, very peaceful and a great view. But Lots of spiderwebs, porch ceiling needed cleaning. There were several lights not working, maybe just needed new bulbs? And the master bedroom and bathroom had a musty smell. Nothing that would prevent us staying here again, though! Loved eating at Sweet Breads, and both Kaya and Yonah wineries were great!
We were a party of 4; all very senior citizens! The house was perfect for us. If we were at the house, we stayed on the back porch overlooking the lake watching the dueling hummingbirds and other creatures. Comfortable beds & seating. Spotless bathrooms & kitchen. The house was very conveniently located to where the guys met their guide to fly fish, to restaurants, and to shopping. We want to put in a plug for Bowman Fly Fishing and our guide Kyle who was knowledgable and personable and for Old Time Pub in Clarksville where the food and service were outstanding! We will definitely return to Clarksville and book this property again.
Sabines home was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate a quiet and peaceful anniversary. The house was great, cozy and with everything you could need, mostly it had a KING SIZE very comfortable bed. It was a perfect location to explore this beautiful area, restaurants, shops, etc. My husband even scheduled one of his bucket list wishes, fly fishing and he loved it! One of the days it rained all day, and we were so happy to just sit on the porch and watch the rain fall on the lake and just relax in the house, we were not upset at all!!! I had to text Sabine a couple of times with questions and she responded immediately. We look forward to coming back to this home.
My husband and I were looking for a home to rent in the area as our oldest daughter was getting married just a few miles away in Clarkesville. This house was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
From the minute I reached out to Sabine to ask about drive time between her home and the wedding venue, I knew we'd found a winner. Sabine was kind enough to actually drive the route and give me an exact drive time (who does that?!) And as soon as we unlocked the door and walked in, we felt completely "at home." This sweet house is cozy, clean, comfortable, incredibly well-stocked, secluded but close to shops and restaurants and the wrap around porch overlooking the lake is fantastic.
Staying here made our "wedding week" that much better, and we cannot wait to return. Can't recommend this highly enough!
The house was perfect for our peaceful getaway. It was very well appointed. I think the only thing we couldn't find was a basting brush for the steak marinade. The listing was very accurate. It's tucked away but within an easy drive of Helen, Clarksville, Cleveland, Mt. Airy (theatre), and Cornelia so there were a wide range of choices for activities and restaurants when we wanted to eat out. The peaceful balcony overlooking the lake was a great place to spend most anytime of day.
My husband and I had a fantastic time staying at Sabine’s peaceful lake house getaway! The house was very clean and pictures on VRBO are spot on, she has provided all the comforts of home. We will definitely be back!!
We all enjoyed our stay with Sabine. She’s a wonderful host, the fresh eggs and half and half were a wonderful touch and very much appreciated. What a lovely cabin…we loved it and will probably book with Sabine again!
Definitely a 5 stars vacation. Absolutely beautiful. It was decorated perfectly .
Close to Clarksville and other fun town. They were all unique in their own way. Leaves were just starting to turn which made it even more spectacular. Sabine was very welcoming. She got back to me right away with any concerns. I highly recommend this quaint mountain home and hope to come back
Although it rained during our entire stay, it didn’t dampen our vacation. The house was actually perfect for relaxing and enjoying the rain both inside and out. It was also close enough to restaurants that we didn’t have to worry about the drive or weather. Thank you for having us and we would recommend your retreat to everyone.😊
Usually I spend weeks looking for the perfect vacation home. I picked this one early based solely on the excellent reviews. I could not have made a better choice. Sabine’s home checked all my fussy boxes. Comfort, spacious, clean, location (private yet within in short range of many conveniences and places to explore), a great kitchen and with excellent outdoor amenities. Truly the porch and fishing deck put our experience over the top. My family took advantage of the every aspect of Sabine’s lovely home. We had a couple of rainy days. We did not mind at all as it gave us an opportunity to chill on the deck, play board games, work on a puzzle and take luxurious naps in the in her cozy beds. I love cooking when I am on vacation. The kitchen was outfitted perfectly and made prepping meals a joy. I have an elderly father who has a few mobility issues. I am planning to make a return trip with him. I am confident he will enjoy himself and have no trouble getting around. Thank you for your hospitality and use of your wonderful home.

We had such a great time! The place is beautiful & cozy. We loved the eclectic art work throughout. Our Father's Day feast with family was fabulous (especially since the kitchen was so well stocked). They live close by & it was so wonderful to FINALLY spend some face-to-face time. We "tried" to fish but no luck (although we didn't really care). Also, it was so fascinating to watch the hummingbirds & listen to the frog orchestra at night. We'll be back!

About the host
Hosted by Sabine Head
Born and raised in Germany and after extensive traveling throughout Europe finally settled in the US. I spend 16 years in Ft.Lauderdale and enjoyed the last 12 years here in the beautiful NE Georgia mountains. I am a certified personal Trainer (hence the exercise room in the basement) and I am now semi retired, just taking care of my guests (along with my husband, 2 dogs and a cat). We live about 20 min. away in Cornelia.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property in 2005, having looked at quite a few in this area I instantly fell in love with the location, the incredible view of the private lake and the feeling of total relaxation, a little piece of paradise indeed !
What makes this property unique
The main benefit of course is that our property is located on this wonderful lake, surrounded by mountains. Since the porch is quite high up on the back it really feels like you are living right in the trees, almost like a tree house with a lake and mountain view, can't beat that.
