About this property

Serene chalet on Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula short track to superb sandy beach

This secluded, extra-comfortable and carefully maintained self-catering chalet — a perfect refuge in summer and winter alike — is hidden away in a corner of one of Cornwall’s most unspoiled and beautiful areas, the Roseland Peninsula, bordered on one side by the famous sailing waters of the Carrick Roads, on the other by the English Channel. Set amongst lawns and trees at the very narrowest point of the peninsula, with views over woods and farmland, the chalet is 350 metres from the wonderful sandy Towan beach on one side, and 100 metres from the picture-book winding creek of Froe and its tidal estuary on the other. It offers perfect peace — but also proximity to a unique range of attractions, including the Eden Project with it's spectacular biodomes, the Falmouth Maritime Museum, the Tate at St. Ives and numerous famous gardens. There are some excellent country inns in the vicinity — and a superb 7-day shop in Portscatho, just over a mile away, selling pretty well everything you might need.

The Roseland Peninsula: The Roseland is one of Cornwall’s most special places, a motley of sea- and river-scapes, woods and fields, lanes and churches, pretty beaches. Besides offering infinite scope both for gentle lazing and for vigorous pursuits on land or sea, the Roseland also gives easy access to other areas of Cornwall.

The Chalet: The chalet has been well equipped to offer optimum comfort and convenience in all seasons, with its sunset dining verandah, south facing dining patio, triple-aspect living/dining room, fall-asleep sofa, ubiquitous radiators, well-equipped kitchen with garden views, two bathrooms (one en-suite), and a general air of calm seclusion. The chalet is only a ten minute walk down a track from the lovely Towan beach, without having to cross any roads.

Due to this property's remote location, it is approached by a track of about 350 metres. We have an ordinary family Car and have no problems, but if you do have a low slung vehicle with very little ground clearance then Towan Beach chalet is probably not for you. Car parking is provided at the top of this track.

Besides yourself and your belongings you need only bring kitchen/bathroom consumables, and your own bed linen and towels.

PLEASE NOTE
Covid 19 Update: Until the virus subsides we are asking guests to bring their own pillows as well as their own sheets, duvet covers, pillow case covers and other laundry.

In season there is a Weber charcoal barbecue unit which is situated beside the front patio.

NB: Smoking is NOT PERMITTED within the chalet or on the balcony verandah.

Provisions etc.: For provisions, the village of Portscatho (1+ miles) offers an excellent papers-to-popadoms, wine-to-widgets 7-day store. The picturesque resort of St Mawes with its medieval castle and sailing/fishing fleet is 7 miles away, while the towns of Falmouth and Truro are both 14 miles via the ancient chainlink river-crossing, the King Harry Ferry. These latter towns both offer the normal panoply of banks, supermarkets, chain stores etc.
The nearest postcode for satnavs is TR2 5EX. Note: the chalet has no actual postcode. Clients will be sent full travel directions.

Beach Chalet
A great stay in a tranquil location with the beach just a short walk away. The property sits on a large garden with plenty of space to relax and just enjoy. The kids loved to run around the space and use the reading nook. Towan beach is a 5 min walk down the track (10mins walk back) with a great little cafe for ice cream and other treats. We came prepared and only used the car once in the week we spent there. We walked to Place (around 45mins with kids) and took the ferry across to St Mawes for a day out. Another day we walked up to Portscatho which took around 30mins. Overall a great stay in a lovely location. It was exactly what we wanted for a quiet

Escape to the Seaside
We had a brilliant holiday here, it was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The accommodation was spotless and everything so well thought out from the summerhouse to the games inside. During our stay we swam in the sea, saw seals, played games on the beach and enjoyed walks to Portscatho, St Anthony Head and went by ferry to St Mawes. At meal times we sat and watched the birds coming and going and sat on the verandah in the evening watching the bats flying by. If you love nature this is definitely the place for you. We cannot recommend this place enough, we thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

Just perfect
Easy to find thanks to the very descriptive directions. As others have said the photos really dont do this beautiful chalet justice. The garden space is amazing and every little detail considered carefully. Everything you need is there. The kids loved the place, especially the wildlife and easy access to the beach

Why they chose this property

We have recently added a summerhouse to the property which we call the "Storyhouse". This provides a small library/creative space for children and a library/retreat space for adults.

What makes this property unique

Only a ten minute walk down the track to the lovely Towan beach, without having to cross any roads. There is now a café called "Thirstea" above the beach at the National Trust entrance.
