Charming Seaside Cabin close to beautiful Beach with Large Garden

The cabin lies up a track above the woodlands beside Froe Creek near Portscatho. It has its own large garden with lawn, trees, shrubs and glorious views from the china clay mountains to the sea, or across the river to St Mawes. 300 or so metres from a wonderful sandy beach and the South West coastal footpath, it offers a perfect base for relaxing in peace or exploring one of Cornwall's most beautiful areas, the Roseland. If you are lucky, you may spot the seals which also visit the beach, egrets sometimes fish in the creek and a pair of resident buzzards often circle above.

The nearest village, Portscatho, has a good general store open 7 days a week, a butcher, pubs with wifi and is only a mile and a half by road, or on foot by the bridle way or the coastal path.

Cornwall's capital, the cathedral city of Truro, and the busy historic port of Falmouth with its Maritime Museum can both be reached by the picturesque King Harry Ferry (which reduces a 20 mile journey to 8 miles). These are lovely old fashioned but contrasting towns and a joy to shop or eat in.

There are many other beautiful walks around the headland to other beaches and the lighthouse at St Anthony Head, with beautiful views of the whole bay. Known as the Carrick Roads, this is one of the deepest natural harbours in the world.

River and sea ferries take you to the Tudor castles at Falmouth and St Mawes, and several sub-tropical gardens including Trelissick (just across from the King Harry Ferry) or even to Truro. Water sports of every sort, sailing, kayaking, wind surfing etc. abound. The lost gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are about a 45 minute drive away near St Austell.

The rest of Cornwall is easily accessible including the Tate Gallery at St Ives, the Lizard, the Atlantic Coast and Bodmin Moor.

We had an excellent 2 week stay at this fabulous home, it had everything we needed. It is so quiet and in such tranquil surroundings, the gardens are particularly beautiful. Towan beach is absolutely brilliant and a 10 minute walk away even with kids! We love it here so much and we really cannot wait to come back already!

We had a fabulous week at this lovely chalet. It is charming and has a beautiful large garden. The mornings were spent in the garden and in the afternoon we went down the track to Towan beach and swam.A very special place !

Had a lovely week at the cabin. The outside space is amazing. Property was very clean and had everything needed. The beach was only 10 minutes away and is dog friendly year round. There are some lovely walks. A visit to Portscatho is a must. Although there were a few more cabins nearby, it was very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely return and recommend.

The perfect get away!

We've stayed here before and it is certainly one of my happy places!Yes it's not modern with all the extras but it is cute, quaint and quirky with the most amazing garden and ten minutes walk to the most wonderful beach with loads of walks and great places to visit by car.If you like to get away from it all, this is definitely the place for you!

Brilliant location

Lovely little cabin in a huge garden, it is basic but does have everything you need, Jenny was brilliant responded to all questions rapidly. The bridal path going to the property is longer than I thought it would be but luckily only met walkers, reversing is not my speciality. We loved our stay, didn’t want to go home and would love to visit again.

Lovely cabin in wonderful spot

We (Family of 5, 3 adults and 2 teenagers) had an enjoyable stay in this cabin. The location could not be better as it a short walk to the clean, sandy beach of Towan. My son thought the water was the best for snorkelling in Cornwall as he observed a large variety of sea life. We all enjoyed the location in terms of walking, as it is so close to the SW Coast Path which gave us the opportunity not to use the car much. We all made use of the boat from Place to St Mawes which makes a pleasant day out. The cabin itself is situated in its own private garden, which consists of a large lawn and range of fruit trees. It is in a quiet location which allowed all of us to sleep well. The cabin is well equipped with a good range of cooking utensils, books and toys. Overall a lovely place to be!

my holiday

great location and amazing garden, property very basic, TV did not work and was only 1 dinner plate. Was not as clean as I had hoped for. It's budget accommodation so do not expect it to luxury or spotless with latest appliances. Its fair value for money the other properites there cost much more so cannot complain too much really. Just wish there was some more comfortable garden seats would have made a world of difference.

Lovely, quaint and ideally placed cabin. However, some issues with cleaning and very old and uncomfortable bunk mattresses for the kids. The owner, Jenny, was great, and responded quickly to my messages, doing her best to resolve the problems. The garden was large, beautiful, tranquil and overlooked fields. A 10 minute walk down picturesque bridal paths, was the most beautiful beach, Towan, with safe swimming. Just back up the path was a very handy National Trust owned cafe and car park.There were 2 lovely walks into Portscatho, one through farmland and the other a coastal path. A short drive takes you to St Mawes and the foot ferry over to Falmouth, a great day out. There is also the King Harry car ferry, only 10 mins over to Trelissick House and Gardens..well worth a visit, and not far from Falmouth. The Eden Project is a 45 min drive, also recommended. With so many great things to do in the area we were spoilt for choice and didn't have time to visit the castles in St Mawes and Falmouth, or Lamorran Gardens. We did, however, discover the excellent Kernow Rscape Rooms in Famouth. A perfect family distraction for a dull or rainy day.All in all, we had a great holiday and enjoyed staying in the cabin. We would have given 5 stars, but for the issues outlined earlier.

The chalet I booked was not this one!! This Chalet needs a good clean basic uncomfortable old lean

Not good , chalet not what I booked however area ,garden beautiful , Not chalet , needs a good clean especially in kitchen , lamp shades full of flys in bathroom ,no comfort , in garden all worn out stuff , no washing line or decent garden chairs Electrics not checked towel rails old not working , stuff needs chucking out all old past their sell by date shame it could be lovely but in that unclean state not good for the beautiful area it’s in and garden, we booked a chalet that had a walk in shower as we are in our 70s and find it hard to get in a bath this was not the chalet I booked

Wonderful weeks in the middle of nature

We (my wife, our dog and I) spent two wonderful weeks in the cottage. It is an older wooden house with good facilities. Everything you need is there. The well-functioning fireplace served us well on the few cool evenings; wood was available. The garden, or rather the beautiful meadow, around the house is very large; you are in the middle of nature. The nearby beach is very beautiful and can be reached after 10 to 15 minutes on foot. Halfway there is a National Trust café that serves very tasty pastries - also to take away. The cottage seems like it is from another time. I sometimes felt like I was transported back to my childhood and youth. This ambience made this cottage something special for us. There may be people who prefer everything new and modern and 100% perfect. I would advise these people against this cottage. Not everything is perfect, in the middle of nature you might find the odd spider web or something else that you might complain about. But for people like us it was something very special. Now, a few weeks after our holiday, we look back wistfully on this wonderful time there. It's a shame that it's so far from our home, otherwise we would come regularly!

Overpriced for standard of the accommodation

The location is beautiful but the cabin is very basic and dark due to the tress/hedges in front of the house . The other part of our group stayed in another cabin on site that had been modernised, was warmer and more comfortable , well equipped and had outside decking yet we were charged more for our stay. On the first night there was a fly infestation in one of the rooms which can apparently happen in this area at this time of the year. As a result we were unable to use the room for a couple of nights . I let the landlady know and she said she would ask the lady who cleans to check everything was alright and it would n't happen again the second night . We don't know whether she came or not as we may have missed her when we were out . I spent the first half of our stay cleaning dead flies from the windowsills. The landlady did not bother to check back to see if we were alright . I would suggest the landlady either spends more money on the cabin or reduces her rates .

Disappointing

Stayed last year and the property was very rustic then but has sadly become more neglected. Such a lovely position and tranquil garden but the cabin really needs some TLC and better upkeep. Window latches hanging off, garden furniture needs replacing...couple of wooden seats unuseable, sofas need better cushions. Kitchen crockery and some bowls and saucepans needed washing before using. Bunk beds had sand on mattresses and were unkempt. Jenni responded quickly to our concerns over how dirty the cabin was and explained the cleaner had not been in due to mix up so we had to clean everywhere ourselves before we could use it. Jenni refunded some money due to this. We also found out on day 2 that there was a massive bee hive in the roof. We were fine and the bees kept away from us but should have been informed prior to holiday. I would love to visit again but not unless the cabin and garden furniture has been improved. It is such a shame; just a few improvements would make a massive difference. Quick, responsive host. I just feel Jenni could do with going to have a really good look at what needs sorting out.

As others have reported, don't expect luxury, the cabin is basic but perfectly adequate in a beautiful quiet location. Had to take our own bed linen and towels which I found unusual. Had been supplied with the wrong key for one of the doors but this was quickly resolved with the owner. Overall I would recommend.

Towan Villa

If you are after a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle this cabin is the perfect place to be, although the track leading up to the cabin was a bit of a bumpy ride. The cabin itself has a large garden and although there were five other cabins you still felt like you were on your own. The cabin was clean and querky. The only downside was that the sofa in the main living area was quite uncomfortable. Apart from that myself and my sister couldnt fault the cabin. There is a lovely pub nearby in Portscatho called the Stanton Inn where we enjoyed a lovely meal, as well as lovely beaches along the coast. All in all a really good base to see a beautiful part of Cornwall. Thank you Jenny

Ticked every box, a real little treasure!

We were booked in for a week and and had a great holiday. The accommodation was retro with a fifties twinge and an amazing garden filled with fruit trees and pots of herbs. The dog friendly beach was a sort walk and great for shell hunting and beautiful clean, clear water. Hopping in the car including an enjoyable short ferry ride [£10 return] to Falmouth which is a lovely place for individual shops and Truro also a great place for shopping with the more mainstream shops but still with lots of character. Finally, we had trouble with the hot water [switch was off] and Jenny messaged back immediately with the solution. Can't fault and would definitely all go back, none of us wanted to leave which is a sure sign of a successful holiday!

Ideal family stay

The cabin is situated in a fantastic location,once you get to grips with the bumpy track, the most stunning beach just a 5min walk where you can swim., rockpool, sunbathe,see seals and watch wildlife. The cabin itself is very homely and like a little step back in time. It has every pot,pan and utensil you could need and everything works well. The double bed was comfy and the children slept well in their bunks. Communication from the owner was brilliant, with quick replies answering all the questions we had before and during our stay. We had a wonderful week at the cabin, and would definitely like to stay again. The one and only gripe was that I felt it could have been cleaned a little better on our arrival. But overall a fab stay that we all enjoyed! And a super location too!

Amazing location in Roseland. Loved staying in this cabin, felt very much like a home from home. Good beach within easy walking distance, some great walks, beaches and kayaking all around the peninsular. The cabin itself is fairly basic, so if you're after luxury maybe it's not for you. I loved it there and would happily go back.

Stunning location

The cabin is situated in lovely grounds in a stunning location within a short walk to one of National Trust's finest beaches in the area. The cabin is basic but had everything we needed for a great family holiday.
