About this property

Surfsong: Classic Oceanfront Cottage, Dog-friendly

4 Bedrooms | 2 Full Bathrooms
3 Queens | 2 Twins

Rest and relaxation are yours at the oceanfront cottage Surfsong, nestled among mature tropical landscaping and privacy planting for a secluded feeling along the dunes of Oak Island’s West End. The entire family is welcomed at this vacation rental, which is stocked with kid-friendly amenities and even allows one dog weighing 50lbs or less per reservation.

This classic Carolina cottage has been updated with luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the living areas, kitchen and baths, and all interior doors have been replaced with new white, solid wooden doors with a cottage look. Enjoy ocean views from every room in the house!

If you tire of watching the waves, three flat screen LCD TVs, extended cable, a VCR, DVD player and wireless internet provide plenty of entertainment options. You’ll also find more nostalgic pastimes like books, puzzles, games and cards, and a booster seat and playpen for younger guests. The sturdy dining table can seat up to eight for meals of game nights, with an additional three seats at the adjacent breakfast bar.

On either side of the common spaces, you’ll find two bedrooms sharing hall access to a full standard bathroom. Three bedrooms are furnished with queen beds, while the final room has two twins instead. Each bedroom has its own vanity and mirror to make getting ready after a day on the beach a breeze, as well as a ceiling fan for your personal comfort.

You’re sure to spend most of your hours outside, whether you choose to settle in the classic wooden rockers, the porch swing or the hammock. Relax on the oceanfront covered porch, with a deck and railings replaced in 2024, and soak in peaceful ocean views. Dine al fresco at the picnic table on the covered front porch after cooking up the catch of the day on the Weber grill. Enjoy direct beach access when you’re ready to hit the sand, or watch the little ones build sandcastles from the elevated dunetop deck with built in seating instead. When you’re had enough of the sun and sea, rinse sand off babies and fur-babies alike at the enclosed shower with hot and cold water under the home or the open boardwalk shower above.

Ensure your next vacation memories play out to the music of Surfsong and book your stay today!

cute little beach house that needs updated

we loved our stay at Surfsong but noticed that the back deck, both bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen all need some extra work/organization/ deep cleaning. the location on the beach was perfect but the back deck leading to the beach had nails sticking up and really rough boards so we were worried about cutting our feet. overall, we had a great trip and would recommend Surfsong for a low key stay at the beach.

Paid a lot for a disappointing experience and house.

Our trip began by not being able to get into property at 4pm Cleaners arrived at 3.45 and left at 4.30pm which meant the house was not clean. Hairs all over the bathroom and dirty floors. We also used this as a working vacation and had no internet for the first 3 days. A member of rental company finally came out Monday only to find out the modem had been unplugged and put under a bed! Overall the house was ran down and minimal. Paying a lot of money for this being a peak time of the year, we were disappointed and will not be returning.

Hi Jason! We’re so sorry to hear that the cleaning process was delayed when you checked into your property for the Fourth of July holiday week last year. While Oak island Accommodations strives to have all properties clean and ready for guest check in by 4:00, we clearly fell short of that mark during your stay and we do apologize for the inconvenience. In regards to the Wi-Fi, while our records do show that you reported having issues with your internet connection upon check in, it looks our guest services agent suggested that you to call the remote technical support service provided by the owner for the fastest assistance possible. Since you were not comfortable doing so, we did put in a work order for our maintenance staff on your behalf instead. We do work to address these reports as quickly as possible in order of urgency, and they were able to visit the property roughly 48 hours after your arrival and correct the problem. According to our notes, they discovered that the modem simply needed to be reset. This equipment was not unplugged, but it is located under one of the beds in order to be out of the way. We do apologize that this tech issue occured. We’re also happy to report that Surfsong has undergone renovations since your stay, including a brand-new ocean front porch and railing completed in early 2024. We truly are sorry for any hiccups in your experience and hope that you’ll give us another look in the future!
