A cosy former horse stable with stone walls and old beams throughout
Come and unwind at Lanlas Cottages. We are situated in the beautiful Teifi river valley, famous for its salmon fishing, not far from the Cambrian Mountains and only a short drive away from the beautiful West Wales coast with its award-winning beaches. Our Y Stabl cottage provides a home from home and is perfect for nature lovers. It has high-speed WiFi >50 Mbps and a key lockbox for easy self check-in. Y Stabl has been lovingly converted from the old horse stable to a homely two-bedroom cottage which retains much original character, with stone walls and beams throughout. The accommodation in Y Stabl consists of a large open-plan ground floor with a kitchen diner. The living area has two sofas and an armchair in front of a log burner. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (bedroom 1 with a king-size and a single bed and bedroom 2 with a double bed) and a spacious bathroom with a bath and shower over. Y Stabl is a cosy cottage with modern amenities, including a fully-equipped kitchen, Freeview TV and WiFi. In front of the cottage, there is a patio area with table and chairs. Please note, we allow up to two well-behaved dogs (no other pets), if you would like to bring your best friend(s) along. A pet fee applies at the time of booking.
Guests can explore our own small woodland, and there are numerous opportunities for walking, bird watching, cycling, or just relaxing and doing nothing – the choice is yours. You can hear the owls call at night or watch the buzzards and red kites in the daytime. Little light pollution means you can see a fantastic number of stars on a cloud-less night.
Do you need more space so that your friends and family can join you? Y Stabl sleeps up to 5 people. However, if you are looking to book for a larger party, then we might be able to cater to your needs as our three cottages combined sleep up to 12 people in total.

The cottage was clean and well furnished and the kitchen well equiped. Had a nice outside area where we could sit and enjoy the sun and is fenced in which is great for small dogs.
Definitely recommend staying here.
The location is wonderful and the cottage was exceptional - roomy and with everything you could want. Daniela and John are lovely hosts - there for a chat and to help if required but also left you yourself if that’s what you wanted. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
A big thank you for a wonderful stay in your fantastic property! Your warm welcome and complimentary biscuits were appreciated, although my 14-year-old son almost polished off alone! A great location that saw us visit some unique places locally, making this our best post-COVID retreat to date! We'll definitely be back for more!

We stayed here before earlier in the year and enjoyed our 2nd stay just as much as the first time. The cottage is in a lovely place only 5 or so minutes drive from the local town Lampeter. It has all the amenities you need and our hosts Daniela and John were on hand if we needed anything. We loved seeing all the wildlife including the pigs, chickens, dogs and squirrels. The cottage is a good base for local sightseeing and you can get everything you need in the local town. We will definitely be staying here again.
Daniela and John have a beautiful property in a secluded and private location, inside Y Stabl the hosts have provided everything that you will need for a comfortable stay. We had some eggs waiting for us in the kitchen plus wood and kindling next to the log burner to make a fire to sit around in the evenings. Would highly recommend if you don't want to have to worry about anything.
This is a long review…but worth it!
This is our second visit to Wales and have stayed at numerous vacation rental properties, and this one was by the far the best. Check-in was a breeze and the owners were easy to contact.
The property included nice, personal touches including a welcome letter, fresh eggs and my now favorite cookies (too bad I can’t find them in America). They also included walking maps of the area which came in very handy when exploring the surrounding countryside.
The layout was spacious… perfect for a family of five, with plenty of room for all of us.
One of the most pleasant parts of our time at the cottage was visiting with all of the animals. Friendly dogs and chickens roamed freely around the farm and lent our stay a feeling of welcomeness. But the best part was getting a chance to visit the two friendly pigs and scratch their belly’s. We were so charmed by the surroundings and animals, we spent one day of our vacation exploring the farm, petting the animals and walking the country paths.
It was at the end of our stay where we learned just our hospitable and gracious our hosts truly were. Because of a broken down rental car, our family of five (3 kids in tow) found ourselves stranded at the cottage on a Sunday, with no way to get to our next destination. After letting Daniela know of our predicament, they offered us a ride to our next destination. On a Sunday. Two hours away! I have never experienced such kindness on a trip before.

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Missing communication and missing rules on website
We stayed at the cottage this January
Nice lovely cottage in a very remote location which is what we wanted
But to many rules for yourself and for your dogs that are NOT stated on the website so before you book make sure this is the actual cottage you need otherwise you will find yourself having to follow lots of rules even though you are on holiday
The cottage states that it is dog friendly but I don’t think they realise what dog friendly means…
Apparently they leave nearby but they never come and present themself
But the most important bit don't upset the landlady with breaking the rules ( if you have to) for any reason as she will tell you something
Unfortunately on the last day I had to break the rules as I didn’t have any other option as much we love our dogs but sometimes you can’t take them with you all the time…but if I knew that this cottage doesn’t want you to leave the dog at home I wouldn’t book it because of what I need it to do while staying ( nothing stated on website)
So I received a text ….
“ this is unacceptable, you need to come back right now, why your dogs walking free in the house and not in crates, this is breaking the rules “
So as I am in the business myself i don’t think this is the way to treat your customers I suggest to the owners either state that you are not dog friendly which I think would be the best option or release some of the rules…
Our stay was fine until this little message …
Obviously we will not come back again as that cottage is not what we looking for…
If I’m on holiday I don’t want to have a lot of rules to respect I wanna be free and relax the time off…

Response from VrboOwner on 20 Jan, 2023
Thank you for taking the time to write this review for us, Ambra. We very much value our guests’ feedback.
As you know from staying with us, we leave a welcome letter in the cottage for our guests upon arrival.
In the welcome letter, our house rules for dog owners cover three main topics: Dogs must not be left unattended in the cottage. Dogs should not be allowed on the furniture. Owners are required to clean up after their dogs and are asked not to let them pee in the cottage frontage area and adjacent flower beds.
There are a number of good reasons for these house rules. Protecting the property and keeping it in top condition for future guests to enjoy is the obvious one. Some dogs bark quite a lot when left unattended in an unfamiliar environment (like yours did, for example) and might disturb other guests. We or other attendants might have to enter the cottage in an emergency. Entering the cottage with dogs left unattended in it without their owners present could pose various risks. Finally, we have a large variety of guests staying with us, and we are doing our upmost to accommodate all their various needs, including being allergic to pet hair or simply not being dog lovers.
House rules are available on the VRBO website, but guests have to scroll down for quite a while to get to the relevant section and then find only a very short version, and in very small writing. Based on your feedback, we have added a more comprehensive version to the short one that was in place, but to view it, guests have to click on ‘show more’. Unfortunately, the space for providing rules and their location on the website is down to the website design and not something we can change. However, it is the guests’ responsibility to familiarise themselves with any policies and rules before they book.
We do live on site in the farm house. We don’t just present ourselves, though, as we very much respect and value our guests' privacy. We are on hand if needed but not intrusive.
Kind regards, Daniela & John
;-)
Alles Gute und vielleicht bis irgendwann.
Wir hatten eine herrliche Zeit im Cottage. Es war alles da, was man braucht. Perfekt und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und herzlich.

Four adults ,toddler and a dog
Lovely ,comfortable , very clean cottage
Very thoughtfully laid out ,we particularly enjoyed log fire ,large roomy kitchen and downstairs area .Beautifully fenced front garden with flowers and seating ,we could relax knowing that the toddler and dog were safe but still able to see the visiting chickens ,delightful!
Wonderful views and walks too
The high chair ,fire guard and stair gates provided were very much appreciated .
Thank you Danielle and John and we hope to visit again
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Very peaceful & quiet. Was spotlessly clean. Kitchen & sitting room very spacious and the beds were really comfortable. Large bathroom. Very well placed to visit Elan Valley, New Quay & Vale of Rheidol Railway. Wonderful quiet roads & country lanes for driving. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.
I booked this cottage as it was a short drive from where I was working. It was slightly off road, which I loved, so quiet in the evenings.
The cottage was spacious, (sleeps 5 but was only me there).
Previous places I've stayed in I've had to take everything apart from the kitchen sink, but thankfully Daniela and John had thought of everything - I dodnt go without at all.
Will definitely book this cottage again when I'm in the area for work
Thank you Daniela and John,
This wonderful converted stable was the first stop as we began some slow travelling with our work around the UK. We had a whole month here and the bar has been set high for future properties we'll be renting. When you're staying somewhere for a month those little niggles that you can put up with for a weekend can become a real problem. We didn't find any niggles with this place. This property had everything we needed - plenty of space for us and our work, excellent wifi so that we could work from home, it was warm (very important when you're travelling with a South African!), well equipped and Daniella and John were wonderful friendly hosts. We felt like locals by the time we left. We'd explored many of the local walking routes, met most of the (also friendly) neighbours, and were also pretty well known by the piglets who were a very welcome bit of joy at the end of the working day. If you'd enjoy a rural setting that's away from the hustle and bustle then this place will be a perfect getaway for you.
A wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage. Spotlessly clean accommodation in stunning surroundings. Hosts friendly but not intrusive. Small woodland attached was enjoyed by all. Our children particularly enjoyed meeting James the Pig.
