My 60th Birthday vacation.
At first, it was a little nerve-wracking. But, after texting with the owner, everything was ironed out and it was a better stay at the cabin.

Great getaway to Moody Mountain!
Our family of four (and dog) loved the cabin on Moody Mountain. Everyone was so comfortable and warm. We played games, went for walks, checked out the local restaurants. We will be back for sure. Nimah, thanks for all the wonderful communication and hospitality. Ramirez Family

Came up a little short
Expected better! Yard was not kept at all, very overgrown with weeds and poison ivy, so we couldn’t enjoy the fire pit. Inside on first and loft was nice. Basement bedroom had mold on the walls and only a bed, no furniture in it. Dryer was broken.
The whole house felt dirty. The rugs hadn’t been cleaned or changed in what looked like a long time, all the walls needed painted, when checking out we had to take the trash to the dump, but the dump was closed. The picnic table was broke and on the listing online it said it was only 30 minutes from the Biltmore, it was an hour away.
Lovely property with great views and local scenery. The house was well stocked with essential items.
Just a few pointers:
-host didn’t provide key code until I reached out, 20mins after check in.
-I was happy to see teabags, but they expired in 2019.
-the basement is pretty unfinished and stark contrast to the rest of the house.
-the check out directions were unclear. They state to place towels in the washer, which is located in the garage, which is stated as off-limits to guests.
-there are lots of rules signs, which aren’t nicely worded and come off as very rude, I felt a bit on edge that if we did anything “wrong” we’d have a hefty fine slapped on us - $100 if you reset the router, upto $500 if there was trash in the yard (I spent the last morning struggling through brambles on a very steep incline to collect a bottle that turned out to not even be ours).
There were several issues with the cleanliness of this property including worn bed sheet ( a hole in the sheet), burnt food scraps in the oven, a sack of potatoes that had sprouted eyes in the cupboard, dried up coffee grounds in the coffee maker, a soiled cleaning rag folded up and in the stack of washcloths (not discovered until it was used in the shower!). There was only 1 spare roll of toilet paper in the house to replace the partial roll in the bathroom. Overall, there was a lack of attention to the preparation of this property for guests. When I brought these issues to the attention of the host, the host was dismissive, abrasive and accused me of violating the occupancy limit (it was my partner and myself. Her elderly father and wife came over to visit for 2 hours but did not stay the night). We reluctantly stayed one night and left early the next day and voluntarily cut our stay short. I will not return to this property and would not recommend a stay at this property.
Enjoyed the stay even though it was for shorter period. Am giving 4 stars only because there are no toiletry items provided. The host was very communicative and responsive though in answering questions.
Cute cabin near cute towns.enjoyed our stay! When he states that the address may not work to find cabin,it definitely doesn't work. You want to change address to the pole cat the he suggested. It will save you from getting lost. And he stresses to read the manual but it's not updated. I felt bad we couldn't throw towels in washer because we couldn't find it. He said they were in the garage but manual said that was off limits. He admitted manual was not up to date.
About an hour prior to check in, I realized that I was unable to access my code for the property. I messaged the owner, Nima, and he promptly responded with the code as well as the property manual. Nima also informed us of cosmetic damage to a door that just happened from the previous renter, and he asked our permission if a worker could come to assess what needed to be done to repair it. Of course we were more than happy to oblige, as he is an owner who cares about maintaining his property.
The decor was lovely, fitting in perfectly with the setting, and everything was clean. We stayed for 3 nights--there is a lot of hiking to do in the area, and if the day is rainy, he has a firestick connected. I recommend bringing your own firestick as we did in the event you want to watch a movie rental. The Hot Tub was great at the end of the day.
Nima had little signs up that were helpful in the kitchen and for the porch. There was plenty of toilet paper, but bear in mind that you need to use the septic safe type if you need to buy any.
I called Nima twice, and he was very helpful and answered my questions. Oh if you take a shower in master bath, and don't want your hair to get wet, bring a shower cap.
We had a lovely getaway with our dog. Honestly, I could not have picked a better host. Thank you.
Overall the property is as advertised. There was some additional info we would have found useful.
The location is remote and quiet. It is difficult to find and some specifics about landmarks would be helpful. GPS is not enough because there is no service on the road up to the property. That said, internet in the cabin is fine. The property was clean and there is a fairly well equipped kitchen. If you love to cook bring a few of your good knives. The beds would benefit from newer mattresses or toppers. New pillows would also make for a more restful sleep. The house easily sleeps 9 but there is not seating for everyone (seating for 4 in the living area and 6 in the dining area). One of the beds is in the basement. No one in our group chose this room as it is down a sleep flight of stairs, there is no dresser, no window, and there is a basement scent there. The awning is not working, which would have played into our decision on renting this property. We emailed and after about 4-5 hours received a response that a tenant had lost the remote which hasn’t been replaced. Lastly, there is no instruction sheet (that we could find) for the hot tub. We never could figure out how to get the jets to work. There was a torrential storm while we were there and the tarp covering the hot tub was completely inadequate in keeping the rainwater flooding of the roof from finding its way into the tub itself. Basically the rain filled the tarp, pushing it to the bottom so that the water was a more cool 82 degrees. However, even with a couple of very heavy rain days our family enjoyed our short time here.

Family stay
Overall the cabin was a decent amount of space for a family get away. Cabin is smaller then expected from pictures online. Directions were quite tricky but we managed, the yard work was quite over grown so couldn’t really see much creek scenery or go on the trails on the property. Communication was difficult with the owner getting into the property itself but the cabin was cozy enough for our 3 night stay and peacefully quiet.
Search Pole Cat Branch Rd if you’re using google maps on your iPhone, Moody Mountain Rd isn’t recognized. The road dead ends at a gravel path that leads up to the house but the mailbox with the house number isn’t visible. My family enjoyed the cabin, it was quiet and relaxing. The hot tub is a must after a day of hiking. We had a great time and it went by way too fast. Thank you!
We arrived at night and finding the property was a bit tricky but once we found it and made our way inside we were very pleasantly surprised. Clean, cozy, nicely laid out, and very well stocked! We had a couple of glitches during our stay but the owner was very responsive. I would stay there again!
The cabin was great. Plenty of room for all to sleep. very clean. The picture is a little deceiving of the front of the cabin & the fire pit. It is much smaller than it looks & there is a good size hill to go up (you can't drive up) to get to the front door. The fire pit would have been nice to use, but there are no chairs for the outdoors. Over all it worked for us as we were only there in the evenings.
We had a wonderful stay at Moody Mountain Cabin! We have an AWD vehicle and had no issues traversing the driveway, but can understand how it may be difficult if you do not have an AWD vehicle. The view is so beautiful and listening to the creek while in the hot tub was our favorite. The kitchen was well-stocked with most of the basic cooking needs. We brought a water pitcher w/ a filter for drinking water, as the mountain water is naturally more iron-rich. The local grocery store and CVS are only about 11 mins away for any needs. We loved seeing the cows as we came and went down Bolens Creek Rd.
The cabin was such a great location in relation to Mt. Mitchell and Asheville. Burnsville is a very peaceful little town. Make sure you check out Snap Dragon for food!
As noted by a previous reviewer, there is a critter noise most audible in the upstairs queen bed guest room. Growing up in a rural area, I suspect they are bats. Bats are difficult to deter and actually great for the environment. Nima, maybe a box fan for white noise to drown out the chittering?
The internet was awesome and there is Netflix, Amazon prime, Disney+, HBO Max & Hulu on the LR tv. This was a huge bonus for the kids!
We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to return to this beautiful cabin someday! Thank you again, Nima!
