Historic Adams Travis Haus is one of only seven historic houses in Fredericksburg on the Gillespie County Historical Society Tour in November of 2022. With features such as stone walls and high ceilings, this home retains much of its original appeal while still possessing the modern conveniences needed to make your stay comfortable. A romantic getaway for two located just a couple of blocks from downtown Fredericksburg's Main Street and Marktplatz.
Gather in the cozy living room in the Adams Travis house, which is furnished with a spacious leather sofa and multiple accent chairs. The exposed stone walls throughout the living room make you feel as if you've stepped into a bygone era. The charm continues in the kitchen, which retains much of this historic home's original cabinetry. A full kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and oven makes extended stays convenient. All of the dishes, utensils, and cookware needed for preparing meals is provided, which can be enjoyed at the eat-in kitchen table or more formal table in the separate dining room.
The cool tile underfoot and soft neutral colors in the master bedroom make this a restful haven. The room is spacious and airy. Soft white linens drape the bed, while two ambiance lights hanging over the bed add a modern touch. A flat screen TV is located in the bedroom for unwinding with a movie in the evening. It is unobtrusive, allowing you also to unplug and disconnect from the world during your getaway if you so choose. Take plenty of time getting ready in the spacious bathroom, where you can pull a stool up to the extended vanity. The bathroom also features a fabulous marble and travertine walk-in shower.
Enjoy extended living space outside, where you can relax in your hand-made Amish gliders around the fire-pit or take a long soak in your own private hot tub. In addition to this home's amenities, all of the activities offered in downtown Fredericksburg are just a short stroll away. Located just a couple of blocks off of Fredericksburg's historic Main Street, you can easily walk to a host of shops, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and art galleries from your accommodations. Pick up your favorite bottle of wine from one of the many vineyards and wineries in the Fredericksburg area, and retreat back to the privacy of the romantic Adams Travis house! Adams Travis was so comfortable and so well located. At arrival we were even greeted by local wild deer. From the comfortable king sized bed and living room to the roomy bathroom the place was a great find. Unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of the kitchen, but we did dine well downtown. I would certainly recommend this unit for a stay in Fredericksburg. Great memories!
This home is historic. You feel like you are in the 1800s. We loved it. Comfortable, cozy with everything we needed. 2 blocks from the square. Just perfect. Highly recommend.
Property was excellent for a couple wanting to get away. Cozy and everything we needed. The only downfall was that we had to buy a 89.00 subscription to watch regular or live TV.
This older home was nice and cozy. It was close to Main Street, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The only negatives were the strong ash smell from fireplace and some of the dishes were dirty, and had to be washed before we used them.
This historic cottage is perfectly situated within walking distance of Main St, offering easy access to restaurants, shopping, and tons of activities. The cottage is adorable and cozy and offers a unique and welcoming home away from home. We can’t wait to go back!

Relaxing getaway
Wow. We loved the house and the location. We stay at a lot of VRBO places and most are lacking enough towels, throw blankets for the sofa, etc… not this place. It was perfect.
Beautiful historic single home. One of the best VRBOs we have ever rented - authentic Fredericksburg! Short walk to Main Street with wonderful shops, tasting rooms and restaurants. A must if you visit.
The home was very comfortable, and spacious. Absolutely loved the hill country vibe. The only thing that caused pause was the landscaping curb appeal. Basically couldn’t see house from the street due to the overgrown shrubs. We almost didn’t get out of the car. I get it’s “rustic” I assume that’s the aesthetic, but other old homes have manicured lawns. The hot tub was warm, but not inviting due to many leaves in it, we did not use it. But overall we would stay again, but would take these items into consideration. Beautiful home, and excellent communication with property managers!
It was a very unique property and the location was great. We found that the kitchen wasn’t well appointed for much cooking. The hot tub cover is in need of replacement. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
We love the historical older home! It was clean and comfortable. It felt so good returning to it after a day in the heat of summer. A/C is welcoming and appreciated.

Lovely step back into central Texas of yesterday. Beautiful home just like the photos! Cozy without feeling at all cramped. Nicely appointed amenities, lacking in nothing. Only suggestions: install shower head that provides more pressure, mention to cleaning folks to clean rim of toilet bowl. Also Adams is a very busy street in the mornings so somewhat noisy. Overall a wonderful place to stay—will be back!
This property is in a prime location in Fredericksburg. Close to everything and a comfortable walk to main st.
Traffic noise is close, but not a negative.
House is tastefully decorated and a truly authentic representation of a pioneer limestone dwelling.
When in Fredericksburg - stay here!

LOVED LOVED LOVED!!!
This is such a charming and beautiful home!! Every detail was carefully thought out and the decor was well appointed. It was a truly great place to stay with close proximity to the Main Square. Hot Tub was so nice to come back to for a relaxing evening with some cocktails and we enjoyed sitting around the firepit as well! We'll definitely plan a return trip..........almost hated to give a great review because now the secret will be out :-)

Hi Marika.
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed the stay. I can relate to your review comment. Take care.
Very cozy cabin and nice stay. Only negative comment is that the doors are not sealed well. It was in the 20s for our stay so it was quite chilly in the living area.needs new weather stripping!! The fireplace was nice though!!
