Recently remodeled separate cottage on property of owner occupied house in quiet natural setting. 420 sq. ft. Two rooms plus bath. One or two guests. No pets / Non-smoking. Parking available for one car only. Near Lafayette Reservoir and easy access to CA-24. Convenient to Orinda and Lafayette BART stations. Internet. Nightly rate: As listed plus 9.5% sales tax. Minimum 3-night stay.

We had two guests stay in our cottage in November2019 before listing it with VRBO and asked if they would kindly write a review of their experience for us. Here is what they said:
"We loved our week-long stay in Joe and Georgia's guest house. finding them to be warm, engaging, and generous in their hospitality. The space is welcoming and comfortable, modern, clean, and spacious. The location was perfect for us, with easy access to the freeway, shops and restaurants close by. The setting is beautiful, with lovely views into the garden and surrounding trees. We slept very comfortably in the adjacent twin beds. The kitchen is well-equipped and modern, as is the bathroom. A high level of effort and consideration by Joe and Georgia has been made -- which will reward all who visit. We highly recommend it!

Great Location

I was welcomed Georgia and Joe when i arrived. They showed me around the cottage. The location was perfect to travel to both of my offices. I enjoyed walking the Lafayette reservior after work. I will definitely stay again.

Peaceful and convenient

The guesthouse is located in a quiet lush neighborhood with easy access to Berkeley and the bay area. The kitchen is well-equipped, the twin beds are comfortable, and there is privacy even though the large windows look out into the backyard. Joe and Georgia were great and accomodating hosts and communicated well.

Lovely tranquil retreat from the crazy world

Beautiful little house in a picturesque garden setting. Absolutely perfect location for us. I would highly recommend this place. Hosts were charming and helpful. Well equipped house although we were here for a weekend celebration in nearby Danville, so had minimal time for cooking. But nearby Diablo Foods was perfect for shopping

Spacious well equipped guest house

This is a great little guest house perfect for two people. The house has everything you need, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom was great for us. The garden is really quiet and peaceful, well shaded so it had lots of cool places if you wanted them. Finally the owners are a delightful couple, friendly and helpful, they really make you feel at home. This rental is highly recommended.

A serene temporary home

Again we enjoyed the peace and privacy of staying in Joe and Georgia's little cottage in the garden. It gave us a feeling of home away from home as we spent some days visiting with family and reconnecting with dear places in the Contra Costa and greater Bay Area. Generous and gracious hosts. Joe and Georgia were fantastic hosts. I was moving my son from Seattle to St. Mary’s. They let us store a couple of boxes and it was a tremendous help, as we arrived a couple of days and needed storage so that we weren’t driving around a car full of valuables. The unit was clean and the hosts were very communicative. As my son is now down here for school, I would not hesitate to book again.

Relaxing private Cottage

We found the cottage and property perfect for our 3 week stay visiting family over the Christmas holiday. As a retired couple, we appreciated the comfortable beds and quiet, peaceful and woodsy surroundings . Hosts, Joe and Georgia, were so generous including providing our favorite coffee! Enjoyed walks in the lovely neighborhood, exploring Lafayette Reservoir and dining at the many wonderful choices of restaurants in town. Orinda Movie Theatre nearby was a real treat. Location was great for taking BART into San Francisco. We definitely look forward to returning for future visits.

Perfect cottage, perfect hosts!

I very much enjoyed my stay at Joe & Georgia’s comfy cozy cottage. Joe & Georgia were gracious, friendly, helpful hosts. Communication was always clear and positive. They’re very good people. Their cottage is a delightful little getaway: peaceful, well-built, well-appointed, modern-yet-homey, super-clean, full of cheery sunlight. The location is quiet and secluded, utterly relaxing, yet offers convenient access to highways and to BART. I felt as comfortable here as in my own home. I’m SO glad I chose to stay here rather than at some hotel. Thank you, Joe & Georgia!

Very clean and nice garden setting. Hosts are very accommodating. While it is a few hundred feet from the freeway, so there is some background noise, it is minor and I slept better than at home in the country. I would strongly recommend.

Cozy Sheltered Cottage

The cottage was well appointed with the essential kitchen gear we needed and our beds were comfortable. Joe and Georgia were warm, supportive hosts but we also found it easy to come and go as we pleased. The oak trees and garden provided a private, cozy space arond the cottage.

One week to visit the Bay Area.

The property suited our needs perfectly . . . come and go as needed, great location (BART nearby, freeway access), quiet neighbourhood, owners were awesome. We encountered a few unseasonably hot days (100+ F) and were comfortable in the cottage (the owner set up an air conditioner when it was needed).

Modern, Enchanting, Efficient Cottage in Lafayette, Gracious Hosts

I was looking for a place in the area so that I could visit my mentor in Walnut Creek. My dear friend Sue found this enchanting cottage in Lafayette for me. My 4-night stay was most enjoyable. The architecture is modern - sloped roof and clerestory windows invite light and create a feeling of spaciousness. As you can see from photos #6 and #9 – the sliding door from the bedroom provides a second access point to the tranquil outdoors. View from kitchen area, living room area, and bedroom – vast lawn and tall trees. The hosts must have removed one of the twin beds to give me more floor space since I was by myself. Thank you. The hat/coat rack, round mosaic table, dish rack for handwashing dishes, facial tissue, new utensils and appliances, 2-burner electric stove, comfortable bed, full length mirror and ample shelf space in the bedroom... everything in every room sparkling clean … added up to a wonderful stay. Joe and Georgia let me use their outdoor table and chairs when I invited my mentor and her family over for a visit, and, before I arrived… they sent photos of where the shady spots would be so that I could plan ahead. I call their place “Shangri-La” because while I had solitude, I also had peace of mind knowing that the gracious hosts were there on the property if I needed help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Sparkling little "house" in a serene setting

Hosts greeted us and showed us to the property sitting at the back of lot surrounded by trees. White glove clean place with sitting area, kitchenette, bath with shower and one bedroom with two twin beds and shelves/hangers/cabinet to store clothing/personal items. Extraordinarily comfortable and relaxing, my brother and I slept well after a busy day assisting our parents in Rossmoor. Highly recommend and we would gladly stay again.
