About this property
Stonington Estate Carriage Room
This beautiful countryside private home - referred to as "The Carriage House at Stonington Estate", is positioned behind the original farmhouse where we, your hosts, reside on 3 acres of land. This house has a history of being rented for over 70 years. The first building you see on the left as you enter Stonington Estate, is the design lab for Legacy Safeguards - all natural sprays -
There is a self check in with code to get keys at the front door. We look forward to meeting and hosting people from all types of backgrounds and cultures.
The house has one full bathroom, large open living room and includes a fully equipped kitchen with stove, refrig, microwave, toaster over & coffee pot. There are plenty of dishes, pots & pans, & utensils to prepare any meal plan. You will also find some staples ie. coffee, sugar, salt & pepper and other spices. Inside bedroom 1 with the king - there is a small exercise area with 3 pieces of equipment to use. We also have 2 desk/computer work stations. All the bedrooms have plenty of closet space, shelves and some drawers.
The entire house is accessible for you with exception of utility room reserved for maintenance staff. Everything is on one floor. Upon entering you will find a guest book that we appreciate our guests signing. Also on the Kitchen table you will find a welcome notebook that has WiFi password, house rules, expectation for check out and other helpful information about what's in the house and hightlights of the area. There is a one stall attached car port for our guests with additional parking in front of the house. Towels & linens included with extra blankets/pillows available and essentials such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo & conditioner. (If you have forgotten anything else, please feel free to ask). There is also free Wi-Fi , TV with netflix and DVD player built in if you choose and an electric fireplace to be enjoyed. Other added amenities are board games located in louvered closet to left of TV, books for all ages and variety of toys for kids in single bedroom closet. There is a small deck with a swing, & 2 chairs meant to be enjoyed to sit outside.
We are very relaxed and available hosts and always try to give our guests lots of privacy and freedom. We will interact on a case by case basis but will not bother you unless requested. Sometimes we see guests as they come & go and sometimes we miss each other. You can always feel free to call or text with fairly quick response if you need something.
We have a No Smoking/Vaping on entire premise, No Pet rule that we appreciate being honored and please no lighting of candles. No parties or events here please without prior approval. Also no bonfires or burning of any kind allowed without prior approval from owners. Be sure the number of guests staying in the house matches the number on the reservation. There is no Washer & Dryer on-site but there is a very clean beautiful laundromat just 4 miles down the main road. There is no breakfast served but coffee/tea are provided to make. Our WiFi was recently upgraded to 75 mbps and runs very smooth with simple tasks like emailing, browsing, streaming several devices, Netflix etc. There is a one page sheet on the kitchen bar with a few other details to make your stay comfortable.
We reserve the right to request a Security Deposit that will be returned upon checkout (If everything is left according to agreement) if we believe the reservation is by a third party, the guest has no reviews or references or it is a contractor/service provider group of 2 or more.
The house sits on beautiful property with a pleasant mix of hardwoods & evergreens and many quiet sounds of nature. Outside the back door you will find a large children's play gym (with
adult swings) on sand as well as a trampoline, a horse shoe pit and a volleyball court on sand. (Regarding the trampoline, we have a rule of no more than 2 at a time and all children should be supervised. If any injury or accident should occur, we, the hosts, will not be held liable) There is also quick easy access behind the house through the trail to a quiet cul-de-sak where roller blading, biking or walking can take place.
Convenient to both Battle Creek (8 miles) and Kalamazoo (17 miles), less than 4 miles to Augusta Village & Fort Custer State Park where you can go canoeing, swimming, kayaking, mountain biking, walking & horseback riding. Richland (home of beautiful Gull Lake) is about 10 minutes away. Our local area is filled with many beautiful Golf Courses within a stones throw. 4 miles to the east in Battle Creek there is a McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut (delivery available), drug store, grocery store, Dollar General & more.

About the host
Hosted by Doug & Rhonda Stanton

Greetings, we are Doug & Rhonda Stanton, your hosts at "The Carriage House at Stonington Estate". We have been married 35 years and live on the same property as you will be staying in at our guest house. We have 2 adult children, a daughter in law, a son in law and 3 grandsons, age 5, 2 1/2 and 10 months. We have called Michigan our home all of our lives and love living here. Hospitality is a gift we both have and love serving people. We look forward to having you visit the carriage house.
Why they chose this property
We absolutely love this property and have lived on it for 29 years. We actually lived in the guest house as our primary for 13 years when both our children were born and later moved to the larger farm house after much remodeling. My husband Doug has actually designed and developed this property over many years to the beauty it is today. Also we have always loved the location being close to both Battle Creek and Kalamazoo and other small cities/villages in between.
What makes this property unique
Some of the uniqueness of the The Carriage House is the large wide open rooms and all being on one floor. Also the view out the back is amazing.
