About the host

Host profile image
We are a retired professional couple who have raised our family in this delightful heritage 1911 house. There are few places that offer what this house has given us--a charming, gracious old neighbourhood in the bosom of the city and the arms of nature--together at the same place and time. Both of us were born in Vancouver and have lived here most of our lives. We were educated at UBC and McGill University and have worked and travelled in east Africa as well as Asia and Europe. We enjoy boating, hiking and the rich cultural life of Vancouver, all on our doorstep.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property in 1978 because it had the authenticity and charm of a solidly-built older house with a large front hall and living room, hardwood floors and a large living room with a wood-burning fireplace. The neighbourhood looked friendly, and beach and city were both right next door. And, in those days, it was an affordable home for a young couple thinking about a family. And we've never had a reason to leave.

What makes this property unique

Oh, house--you had me at 'hello'. Hello to the garden, the pond, the spacious hallway and staircase. Hello to the large living room and fireplace. Good morning to friendly smiling neighbours, thank you to the leafy tree canopy and quiet streets. yahoo to the bikeway just around the corner.
