We had an incredible stay! We were four adults and two small kids (6 and 3), and the house was perfect for us. The location is amazing an easy walk to Jericho Beach and great little coffee shops, with plenty of street parking always available right outside the house. The house itself is incredibly charming, and the front garden in August was an absolute dream we spent so much time out there. The beds were really comfortable, and the kitchen has the cutest little balcony off it, perfect for breakfast and morning coffee. We absolutely loved our stay and would happily come back!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful visit. The house is charming, has everything you could ever want - a beautiful garden, walkable location, stocked kitchen and so much character. Parking was easy and Rosebud was very welcoming. Highly recommend!

Great location and responsive host, but a few key issues fell short for the price. The Good: The Kitsilano neighborhood is fantastic, and the host was friendly, communicative, and provided great local recommendations.Listing Accuracy: The listing stated "3 half bathrooms," but there is effectively only one toilet for the entire house.Privacy & Surprises: We were not told in advance that a tenant was renting the basement; the host only informed us after we arrived at the property. Furthermore, there was no lock separating the lower level from the rest of the house.Historic Charm & Maintenance: While the house brings a lot of historic charm, its age also came with negative surprises, including an odor of humidity in certain rooms and a mouse spotted in the kitchen one night. When we brought up these points, the host simply acknowledged their existence but didn't offer any compensation or apology. Conclusion:At the price we paid, we expected better alignment with the listing description, upkeep, and transparency. Unfortunately, these drawbacks made it hard to fully enjoy the stay.

Hello, Jihane and Fadi Thank you for your thoughtful review of your stay at our home in Kitsilano. To respond to your description of the shortcomings you noticed *bathroom--I tried very hard using the VRBO checkoff system to describe our bathroom. It was impossible to describe that it is two rooms for the toilet, bath and shower.--amounting to one complete bathroom. I'll have another try at improving accuracy in description. *tenant--I mention in several places that we have a tenant with her own entrance. We will consider a locked door entrance, but because we are up and down the stairs everyday it had new occurred to us to keep that door locked. *mouse-- Vancouver is a port city and we live beside the beach where there are lots of mice. We have a service that manages both rat and mouse traps, but I guess one mouse got away. All the houses in our neighbourhood deal with mice and rats in one way or another. *humidity--Vancouver is humid and we don't have air conditioning. That is why we have fans and keep our windows open in the summer. I'm not sure what the smell is that you encountered. It may be that, because it is our own house we are listing with VRBO, we offered it with the problems an old house is likely to have. It may be that we could have resolved some of the problems while you were there if you had contacted us. We will make sure the remainder of our guests are aware of the shortcomings you raised in your review. All the best Maureen

Wonderful way to experience Vancouver

The house is lovely and had everything we could ask for (esp a robust kitchen for cooking at home, beautiful gardens and reading areas, lots of books and beautiful artwork), the location is excellent (especially if you enjoy walks along the water and extensive bike trails, and like having restaurants, stores and grocery all a few blocks away), but most importantly the hosts are so generous and helpful. We had such a nice visit, our best time yet in Vancouver.

Relaxing Kitsilano

We had a great stay in Kitsilano. Our group of 4 adults and 2 kids (4&7) all enjoyed their time at the house. In a quiet residential area, with lots of parks close by and the water a few minutes walk away. The house was comfortable and unique. We all enjoyed the art work and decor in the house and the kids loved the garden and enjoyed feeding the fish. The house is away from the noise of downtown Vancouver, which was a pleasant change. It's located near West 4th street which has many interesting stores and restaurants. If you are thinking about staying here, we walked to Granville Island in about 45 min, it was a lovely walk and a really nice way to enjoy the city. The house was clean and tidy, we really didn't need for anything. We would definitely consider staying again in the future! Thank you for the stay!

VANCOUVER MEMORIES !

Our stay with Maureen and Col was absolutely lovely. The house was more than equipped and full of charm. The location is ideal for seeing all Vancouver has to offer. Communication with the property owners was easy and they were on hand if ever needed. I would love to stay with them again! And would highly recommend this listing to all!!!

We are a retired professional couple who have raised our family in this delightful heritage 1911 house. There are few places that offer what this house has given us--a charming, gracious old neighbourhood in the bosom of the city and the arms of nature--together at the same place and time. Both of us were born in Vancouver and have lived here most of our lives. We were educated at UBC and McGill University and have worked and travelled in east Africa as well as Asia and Europe. We enjoy boating, hiking and the rich cultural life of Vancouver, all on our doorstep.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property in 1978 because it had the authenticity and charm of a solidly-built older house with a large front hall and living room, hardwood floors and a large living room with a wood-burning fireplace. The neighbourhood looked friendly, and beach and city were both right next door. And, in those days, it was an affordable home for a young couple thinking about a family. And we've never had a reason to leave.

What makes this property unique

Oh, house--you had me at 'hello'. Hello to the garden, the pond, the spacious hallway and staircase. Hello to the large living room and fireplace. Good morning to friendly smiling neighbours, thank you to the leafy tree canopy and quiet streets. yahoo to the bikeway just around the corner.
