The Junction-backwoods tiny home on brook trout stream with mountain ridge view
We're open-Hurricane Helen spared our county!
Are the backwoods calling? Travel on uneven gravel & dirt to arrive at this tiny home and unique setting. 400 sq ft cabin overlooks two boulder filled creeks plus a mountain ridge view! 2 mi from paved road w/shallow potholes & rocks. 5" clearance (not 4WD) needed. NOT suitable for motorcycles. (Charging EV batteries not allowed. Venomous snakes and wild animals live in the woods) Use ONLY our directions and you'll enjoy the adventure getting here!
Logging days of the past used the creeks to harvest timber. Now their roads bring you to this little cabin with lots of white noise. Bring your pole as it's home to wild brook trout or hatchery supported downstream.
Country décor shows logging history in this well-equipped 400 sq ft cabin. Relax on the deck or take a nap in the covered porch. Walk your own private trail that leads to the creek-side deck.
The Nantahala National Forest is our backyard and playground. Bring your outdoor gear for adventure right outside your door. Come "tame the dragon", ride the "Cherohala Skyway" or "hug" a tree at Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.
"It was hard to leave" is the best compliment we get! We hope to hear from ya!

My wife and I stayed at the Junction for three days, next time we will stay longer. We really enjoyed this cabin and the beautiful location. It is exactly what we were looking for and more. The sound of the river was so relaxing and the little cabin was more than enough for my wife and I. We will be coming back very soon.
We loved our stay at The Junction! Such beautiful scenery and an adorable home…kitchen was fully equipped and home was very clean. We got a late start and got there in the dark which I WOULD NOT recommend; Host gave such detailed directions that we had no problem though. If you want to get away from everything in a beautiful, natural environment, this place is for you!
This place was amazing!! Very tranquil and relaxing. The sounds from the water flowing down the creek was great! The tiny house had everything you needed. Thank Alice for your hospitality!
Wonderful. Away from the electronic bombardment that we face everyday. Would highly recommend to nature lovers and people that love to cook and just enjoy the moment. The creek and deck are so special.
Absolutely breathtaking! Relaxation and beauty at its finest. Perfectly appointed, this cabin is one of the best VRBO's we have ever spent time in! The sound of the creek lulled us into a tranquil state. The majestic trees surrounding the cabin made it feel like we were spending the night in a tree house.
This was the most amazing trip we have had to the mountains yet! And the charm of this place added nothing but character to our stay! Thank you again for hosting us!!
We stay at cabins all around TN and NC and this is definitely at the top of the list. Description is completely accurate and it was fully stocked with anything you might need such as all kitchen items, bathroom items, etc. Very peaceful and a perfect spot to "unplug". Highly recommend it....hosts did an outstanding job decorating plus very clean. Thank you!
We have to say this has to be the most well equipped and cleanest rental we have ever stayed in, not to mention the most accommodating hosts, Alice and Doug. We caught trout right out the back and only wish we could have extended our stay longer.
Stayed 3 nights, absolutely loved it. No cell service or internet, excellent. Please don’t change that! Very neat and clean, everything was just easy. Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay. We hated to leave.
A wonderful cabin. Has all the amenities you ever need plus some. The stream is awesome. Beautiful sights. Our hosts were very attentive to all details.
If you like seclusion, outdoors, wildlife, streams, fishing and connecting with yourself this is the place. We stayed Sun to Sun and only left once. It was spectacular. I fished a couple times a day and caught fish. The cabin was clean and well supplied and amenities were perfect. Thank you Alice and Doug for a vacation to remember.
Absolutely beautiful location. Perfect to recharge and enjoy some relaxation and do a little fishin'. Cabin is perfect has everything you need. and everything you don't ie. cell and wifi!
The Junction exceeded our expections. Peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and plenty of trout (mainly rainbows). The terrace was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sound of the creek. We hope to come back some day.

About the host
Hosted by Alice Lumbard
We're Doug and Alice, originally from Illinois. We missed our creek property and slower lifestyle so we moved into our tiny vacation home upstream from The Junction.
Why they chose this property
We enjoyed sharing our little "glamping" cabin, "The Owl's Perch" (#1891123), so we purchased "The Junction". We remodeled it, cleared the view and gave it a name. We’d love to share either with you!
What makes this property unique
You just can't beat the sound of a rushing creek and solitude the forest offers. We welcome you to come experience small living and see why less is more!
