Nestled in the protected shores of the Nantahalah National Forest, this home features a fully equipped kitchen, covered outdoor sitting area and a private dock and a brand new lakeside deck with gas firepit for 2022. A canoe, 2 kayaks and 2 stand-up paddle boards are at your disposal. This nature lover's paradise boasts miles of nearby hiking trails, fishing and swimming in the pristine waters of Lake Santeetlah. The perfect summer getaway

We came for a week in July to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We had a wonderful relaxing stay and so enjoyed the amenities, we swam, kayaked, canoed. We really appreciated the easy communication with Marc - he was so kind, responsive, calm, and helpful! This is a beautiful home and Lake Santeetlah is incredible. Don't miss hiking at Joyce Kilmer.

Perfection

This home is the perfect lake house. My husband and I stayed for 8 nights. The porch was absolutely wonderful. We sat and had coffee (or cocktails) every single day. The home is exceptionally clean and well stocked. The linens were high quality and the bed was very comfortable. The use of the kayak and paddle board was an added bonus. Easy paddle out of the cove and the sunset and mountain views were spectacular. We will definitely book again. Cannot wait to return!!

Great Place in a Special Place

Awesome spot in a beautiful surrounding. Marc was a great host! Had a few bumps but he was straightforward and steadfast in trying to rectify things. He went above and beyond. The area is really starting to develop. Sadly, not everyone cares about fitting into the surroundings as much as Marc does. His place is perfect for the environment.

Perfect getaway

What a beautiful, perfect getaway! Absolutely stunning setting located on the lake, very clean house and well maintained inside and out. Lots of options for paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking nearby or just taking in local sights. Highly recommend this place and the owner was always communative making the entire process relaxing and stress free!

Top Shelf Lakeside Experience

This was our third time staying at this lakeside cottage so we clearly enjoy the accommodations! We needed to adjust the dates of our stay and the owner was prompt in communication and generous at every turn. Springtime on Santeetlah Lake is as beautiful and it is peaceful. We spent a day on the lake by renting one of the new pontoon boats at Santeetlah Boat Rentals. Do yourself a favor and check those fine folks out if you get a chance. Nearby hikes and scenic drives are exceptional. The cottage was in great shape, amenities were abundant and the property was booming with flowers. Lovely setting. The one downside, and it came as a surprise, was the construction happening every week day with two new homes next door. Roofers and rock movers were working from morning to evening. It was a bit of a buzzkill if you like to enjoy morning coffee overlooking the lake because the noise was nonstop. Hopefully the work will be done soon and future renters will enjoy the space without interruption. Regardless, we love this place and will be back.

Relaxing stay at the lake

Me and my fiancee stayed for a few days at this cottage and we had an amazing time. It was a perfect getaway from everyday busy life to a nice retreat in the peace and quiet of the lake. If you're looking for a cozy cottage and peace and quiet, this is the go-to place. We couldn't be happier with our stay and will absolutely look back into renting again!

Family getaway

The best! The cottage is one of the best all around VRBO stays we have ever had. All the furnishings are better than other stays and the cottage is well appointed for all your needs. The neighborhood and surrounding towns are a great addition too! Communication is thorough and responsive. Highly recommend!

Lake Santtelah

The host was very informative and communicated well. The house is absolutely in a beautiful cove in the lake. I grew up in RVill and had to attend a funeral, and the serenity, and the calm of that lake was just what I needed. The fog lifting in the Smokey mountains was seen daily. Thank you

Cute house

My husband and I stayed three nights in this cute house. The house was clean and had a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed our stay the only slight disappointment was it's much smaller than it looks in the pictures. You're asked to take your trash off when you leave. I let Marc know we weren't able to do this because we drove a small sports car and didn't have any space left he was very understanding.

Lovely cottage on the lake

The cottage was perfect for our stay. We spent lots of time paddling on the lake, but also lots of time relaxing on the porch. Communication with the owner was excellent. The house has everything you need for a relaxing stay. We hope to be back soon.

Excellent vacation in a charming house

Property was exactly as presented. Decor was updated, comfortable and cozy. House was well equipped- including water toys to help us take full advantage of the lake. It is obvious that the owners had their guests in mind when setting up the house. Lovely!

Wonderful home!

We had a wonderful stay at the Santeetlah cabin. Our time couldn’t have been better. House was very clean, and the kitchen was stocked with any item you need to cook. One thing that was such a pleasant surprise was the quality of the sheets and towels! Most rental properties don’t have the highest quality sheets and towels and usually end up being scratchy, uncomfortable bedding and cheap, thin towels. Not this place! We slept so well! If you’re debating whether or not to book, don’t hesitate! This place is a GEM!

Even better than expected

The property looks even better in person than in photos. Everything was very clean and well-appointed, especially the kitchen. We loved the spot with a clear sunset view. And, of course, the lake was as beautiful as always. We've been to Santeetlah several times and would certainly come back to this property! Thank you to the hosts for creating a dreamy little retreat.

Perfect lake cottage in a perfect location

We had an amazing time at the Modica's cottage. They are wonderful hosts that truly care about making sure you have an enjoyable vacation. The cottage is easy to find, was very clean, and had an incredible view of the lake and mountains. The beds were very comfortable as was the seating in the living room and dining room. The dining table was perfect for meals and board games. Paddling around the lake was so peaceful. The proximity to great hiking trails and several whitewater rafting options makes the cottage ideal for those looking to spend time both on the water and in the mountains. They have a well stocked kitchen and there is a grocery store nearby. There are also plenty of great restaurants both in town and in the surrounding area. We would definitely stay at the cottage again if we are able to return to the area.

Thanksgiving Holiday

A quiet and relaxing stay. The cottage was perfect for our needs; clean, well-equipped and comfortable. The location was great for outdoor adventures in the area, such as hiking and kayaking, all in scenic surroundings. The property owner could not have been more accomodating to our inquiries and requests.

Exceptional stay

A lovely and thoughtfully appointed home in an ideal location. This home was very clean and stocked with almost everything we could have needed. We specifically sought out homes without animal head/skins etc. as decor and this house was true to the listing. Bright and tasteful decorating and multiple places to sit outdoors. The views of Lake Santeetlah were stunning at all times of the day. We loved having access to the kayaks and enjoyed the lake every day we were there. Additional note - we appreciated having a place nearby to drop our recyclables!

Super Cute and Nice Owners

We really enjoyed our time here, perfect for two people. The porch and the dock were excellent, the kitchen well stocked, the beds comfy (and the internet good enough). Clean clean clean. A lovely property!

Great Lakeside Getaway

This is a beautiful cottage with a gorgeous view. We found the property to be well-maintained, clean (including the outside porch and furniture!), and equipped with everything needed for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boards that were provided with our stay. Our interaction with the hosts/owners was minimal (arrival/departure); however, you could tell they are nice people, available if you need them, and that they want you to enjoy your stay.
