We went out for coffee each morning. We were very happy to find Camino Bakery. Great COFFEEs and baked goods w/ GF options, Chobani yogurts and small packaged healthy salads (say you'll be out for the day and don't want to stop for lunch).Enjoyed a drink at the VSB; friendly. The room is sweet, comfy and clean.
Great property, great host. Would definitely recommend this spot to others looking for somewhere within walking distance of W-S nightlife.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disappointing rental. While close to 4th street & Hanesbrand theatre the accommodation was surprisingly low end. We were approached by a seemingly psychotic man in front of the house while walking to dinner. The room was cramped yet the most disconcerting part is the issue (s) with the electrical wiring - that at best is a safety concern.
The host was very welcoming. Our rooms were very clean. The bed was a bit hard for our liking, but the bedding was comfortable. The wifi wasn't very good, we unplugged the tv and still spotty. The location was everything. We walked to downtown for breakfast and we were also thankful for a first floor room and parking right out front. The refrigerator was a nice touch. A coffee maker would have been appreciated since there were no coffee shops close by. Overall a good stay.
This was a great spot to stay to visit the area while still being walkable to downtown. Check in and check out were clear and easy. We would definitely stay here again!
I have stayed at this property before and liked it so much that I rented it again when I was in Winston-Salem. It’s a good place. It’s as advertised and owner communicates effectively.
We truly enjoyed our stay! The communication with the owner was great. We got clear instructions in advance. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower had great water pressure and the towels are soft. It had everything you might need… plates, plastic utensils, hangers, band-aids…There was newly installed decking to the door and patio area. It was quiet and a comfortable walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. Would come again!
I recently attended graduation at Wake Forest University and spent two nights at this perfect property. I was very pleased with everything: the tasteful furnishings and thoughtful decor created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Every detail felt carefully chosen, making the space both stylish and incredibly comfortable. The location too was perfect/close to everything I needed yet quiet enough to relax and unwind. Communication with the host was seamless from start to finish. Sherman was friendly and responsive and I appreciated how easy he made the entire process.I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-appointed, and conveniently located getaway.
I really was so fortunate to have Sherman for a host. This booking seemed plagued from the beginning due to problems with the VRBO email and confirmation system.Sherman kindly sent me all the necessary I formation and even helped me when I was lost in Wi Aton Salem trying to find the rental.
The property itself suited my purposes quite well. I was in town for a workshop, and the location was perfect for me. The bed was comfortable, and the bath had everything a person could need.
The bedroom & bathroom were very clean and the queen-sized bed was comfortable. There was a small refrigerator and microwave. The biggest improvement I would suggest is having a keurig coffee maker and some coffee pods. There was no nearby place to have coffee and a light breakfast.
I also noticed that there was no smoke/fire detector in the room, which I think should be required in a home as old as this one.

There is a Coffee/Eatery 500 feet from the rental on the same street same side. Smoke detector is over the entry door. If you want a kitchen or a place to fix meals you should rent lodgings that have a kitchen not a private room/private bath. No matter how you try to make a place nice KAREN's find something to complain about even when they are wrong. It's the world we live in.
I was here solo for Highpoint market and it was just what I needed with an affordable price. Walked to local restaurants and had parking in the back. Perfect! Will book again for solo travel to Highpoint!
One thing to note is that it is a charming, historical house. The walls are pretty thin so bring earplugs or airpods just in case you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep (ie morning). Nothing crazy or unreasonable with regard to sound and timeframe just a note.
Thanks Sherman! You were a lovely host, very responsive to questions, for a unique rental in a prime location in downtown Winston-Salem.
I’ll be back!!
The location was ideal for a conference I was attending while in Winston so I didn’t have to get a high priced hotel downtown. It was less than a mile away from the convention center. The room was small but that’s what was advertised and it’s all I needed. I would easily stay there again.
