Newly Updated Large Cabin with Game Room, Hot Tub + More!
Looking for the ideal place for your next family reunion? Look no further than Bear Ridge. Nestled in the thick woods in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, this beautiful mountain cabin has the perfect mix of modern convenience and rustic charm. You’ll never run out of fun activities when you make this home your vacation headquarters.
Bear Ridge is a six-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom, air-conditioned cabin that sleeps up to 12 guests when the living room’s sleeper sofa is used.
When you drive up to Bear Ridge, you’ll be pleased to see there is plenty of parking for your entire group. Bear Ridge is a great place to visit any time of year. Each season has its own breathtaking beauty, but if you visit in winter, we encourage you to arrive in a four-wheel-drive vehicle or at least have chains for your car. Despite the best efforts to keep roads clear, they are occasionally icy and snow-packed.
Walk in the front door and enter your spacious living room anchored by a large river rock fireplace. It’s fun to snuggle up on the couch or love seat as you listen to the crackling fire and watch your favorite shows on your TV with cable.. High, exposed-beam ceilings and beautiful pine log finishes give the room a warm, welcoming feel. There’s a half-bathroom close by on the main floor for guests’ convenience.
When you come to the mountains, be prepared for friends and family with hearty appetites. The mountain air and all your activity make guests hungry for dishes like chili, spaghetti and stew. Fortunately, you have a fully outfitted kitchen ready and waiting for you to whip up your family favorites. You also have two charcoal grills in case you want to sizzle up some steaks or burgers.
You can serve your group around your expansive harvest table that seats 10 people. Of course, you can always find an excellent restaurant in Gatlinburg where you can entertain your whole group. You have plenty of choices.
Outside your Bear Ridge kitchen is your large deck where you can sit and enjoy a morning cup of coffee. You’ll love the porch swing, and even better, there’s a hot tub where you can soak your tired muscles after horseback riding, golf or hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Another door on the deck opens directly into the Bear Ridge game room, where you'll find a pool table and a checkers table. Kids will have a blast in this fun space, creating countless adventures. If they’re not in the game room, you can head downstairs to the bonus living room, which features a large TV and two additional couches.
Your Bear Ridge bedrooms feature large windows that let nature’s rich beauty in as you begin each day. Two of the bedrooms feature king-size beds and another four have queen-size beds. One thing’s for sure, you’ll sleep well in the mountain air and peaceful quiet of these rooms. Each bedroom has a private TV so guests can fall asleep watching their favorite late show.
The four full bathrooms each feature a shower/tub combination. If you’re interested in a soak instead of a quick shower, we have you covered.
Added features you’ll like are the washer and dryer tucked away behind folding doors in the game room. No need to head off for the Laundromat when you stay at Bear Ridge!
In season, guests at Bear Ridge have access to a community pool. It’s a great place to cool off and soak up some warm sunshine.
There are so many fun ways for you to spend your days in the mountains. Hike amid waterfalls and woodlands at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Take a ride on the zipline or gondola at Anakeesta, an outdoor amusement center in Gatlinburg. Head over to Dollywood for thrilling rides and fun shops. Visit the Guinness World Records Museum. You’ll also find distilleries, restaurants, shops and mini golf in downtown Gatlinburg.
You’ll have the best family reunion or friend gathering ever when you reserve your stay at Bear Ridge. You’ll have so much fun that in years ahead you won’t be able to talk about Bear Ridge without a smile crossing your face. Book your visit today!
*Please Note: Due to the mountainous terrain of the Smoky Mountains and the surrounding area, guests are required to arrive in a high-profile vehicle equipped with All-Wheel Drive or Four-Wheel Drive during the winter season and strongly recommended to do so year-round. Access roads leading to some of our properties may include narrow roads, gravel, and/or paved surfaces, and steep grades.*

We had so much room for our whole family! Our host responded immediately when we had a minor issue with the hot water in one of the bathrooms. It was also awesome being super close to Ober!

Heating was very hot upstairs almost 10 degrees difference. Floors bulging through-out. Small kitchen with very cheap cookware and most of silverware was dirty and/or oily. Code did not work once arrived, took a while to work out but probably due to touchy cell service. Location was good not far from downtown.

Vicki,
Thank you for your review. We wanted to thank you for choosing to stay with us. We will look into the issues you have mentioned, but we are happy you had a great time.
We saw at least 6 different bears on the property! They were traveling thru the neighborhood to scope out trash cans. Our family had a great time. The layout of the house was good. The home could use some updates.
Great experience! Love the property, could use some updating. Wasn’t very clean, furniture dusty and a lot of the bulbs in light fixtures were out or the lamps were broken.
The only deficiencies were the upstairs bedroom baseboard electrical outlet and the upstairs bathroom where only one half of the outlet was serviceable.
Recommendation: Add spot lights on the front of the cabin to illuminate the parking area.

Bear 2
Photos on line did not match some of the cabin. 2 person hot tub for as many as 16 people that could stay. Floors were incredibly dirty. No fire pit. One of the doors heading outside fell off the hinges and hit my niece in the face.

Worst One I Have Been Too
We arrived and couldn’t access house key code. Tried to call and was outside for 45 minutes on the phone before we had someone on the line finally got in the house for the night. The heat downstairs does not work and tried to get a service tech they never came. House was filthy. This is the worst place I have stayed in Gatlinburg by far do not recommend.

Hi Kim! We deeply apologize for the lack of service and communication that you experienced during your stay with us. It definitely is frustrating and we want you to be able to enjoy amenities as well. I will be letting my office know so that this does not happen again. Thank you for your patience!
Highlights: Having the porch rockers & chairs were very nice, as we sat outside & visited often! We did see bears (yes, pleural)! I did not receive my email to confirm key code for entry, called to get one, got to cabin, it didn't work had to call back to get another one. Empty cups/plastic bottles on porch. All matress' need replaced immediately! NONE of 12 guests slept well for 3 nights! One of the dining chairs broke as my 79 year old Aunt sat down for breakfast (fortunately she was not seriously injured). The cabin was supposed to accommodate 16 & there was not enough dishes to have a meal for that amount! Carpets were dirty, plaid couch was old & had holes in the fabric, not enough seating for all to be in the same room at the same time. It was not suitable for the price we paid! Understand, we had a great time & we made due! I am trying to be honest about these issues, but they need attention STAT!

When booking this home we read every inch of information regarding this house & it did not disappoint. There were a few minor (not major) issues, but it wasn’t anything we couldn’t handle.
1. The oven took an awful long time to heat up & cook meals.
2. Some of the blinds seemed to not work properly.
3. Front door closed & the top of it seemed to not be secured completely, however it was. Wondered if there was a key to lock the deadbolt for those worried about it.
4. Upstairs living room floor outlet cover not secured, dangerous for small children.
5. Pool table room flooring seemed to have an air pocket underneath.
6. Basement ceiling above back door was bowing.
7. Ceiling fan in basement bedroom with double bathroom door did not seem secure.
8. Hot tub decking slopes a tad, used a couple times without issue.
With those items listed above we absolutely had an amazing time. Had multiple bear sightings near and around the house, but nothing of concern. Had no issues getting ahold of someone if need be.
Footnote of advice would be to add a layout if the bed/bathrooms to the listing so people can plan accordingly.
Layout of house:
Walk into the entry way, with half bath to the the right. Straight ahead is living room with fireplace, and staircase to go upstairs. Once upstairs there is two bedrooms (Q) on right side, then a shared bathroom, a single bathroom & another bedroom (Q). Back to living area and to the right is pool table with access to hot tub, game table & washer/dryer. To the left of living area is dining room & kitchen. Down the stairs is another living area, and the bunk room (T). The bedroom (k) to the right has the bathroom with two entrances, and then there is another bedroom (k) to the left with bathroom attached.

Loved the cabin
Great place to stay. Clean and it had everything we needed for our stay
This house was everything they said -10 adult retired women, mostly teachers, and we loved it! Everything worked, 2 coffee makers and a Kurig, we slept well, saw bears - its minutes from the Smokey Mountain National park, and both Gatlinburg and pigion forge. The tables are scuffed, the porch rocking chairs are old, but the hot tub was incredible. We will come back again, and many in our group want to come back on their own with their families! Wonderful trip. The biggest challenge was often the GPS didn't know where we were.
We had a great time at Big Bear 2. Close to all attractions and saw LOTS of bears.

Comfortable
This unit was spacious and comfortable. Easy access to Gatlinburg and mountain activities. Saw bears every day. We drove to the nice nearby pools almost everyday. It appears to be an older cabin that has not been well maintained. About a 10F difference in temp on each floor. Lower level cold, mid - comfortable, upper -warm. Oven door taped on - one side fell off, Ice-maker did not work, DVD did not work - every button openned the dvd drawer. TY for cleaning the carpets before we arrived.
The house fit us perfectly. However the oven doesn't work. Tried to bake a lasagna at 400' didn't even get it warm. Had to put it in another dish and microwave it. The upstairs bathroom shower leaks water to the downstairs by the front door. You can see the water marks on the wood of the ceiling so it's been going on for a while. The dryer needs at least 2 cycles to dry towels. The beds are OK. The area is good, we saw bears every day. It' a nice house but needs fixing.
Nice cozy cabin it has a lot of space for the kids and family, but just need some repairs and updating. The beds are very hard, the outside rocking chairs are not stable. And back porch balcony doesn’t look stable as well. I’m 175lb and the front porch rocking chair fell in on me. The bottom master bedroom need the door fixed and bed need dusting. Wall socket need to be fixed it’s hanging out. The oven takes forever and a day to cook anything. The water stayed hot which was a plus. Outside of those things my family and I enjoyed and would come back if these things are replaced and fixed.
My family of 13 (ages 3-70) stayed for a week, Christmas to New Years. Home was easily big enough, lots of space for gathering in groups big and small. Parking nice. Clean.
Needs some maintenance- back deck and hot tub look Unsafe- we did not use. Fireplace does not look well supported, which is breaking the ceiling on the lower floor. Cracked microwave, door latches don’t work. Some doors hard to close.
That being said, we had an amazing time.

Hi, Debbie! I wanted to thank you for celebrating Christmas in Gatlinburg, as well as update you on some of the latest here at Big Bear 2. I'm pleased to announce we now have a dedicated staff member focused on hot tubs, and we've also addressed the other times you mentioned. Hopefully, we can make this a Christmas tradition!
It was nice and clean. Checkin and checkout procedures were all online , no interaction involved. Management office called to check in on if anything needed to improve stay experience but all was in place so nothing new needed. Best thing was parking which was flat and comfortable to park.
