Comfortable 3 bedroom 1 bath Cabin, walk to the lake at the Public boat launch.
This is the Original Cabin at the lake! There is another house which blocks access now but the public boat access is 1 house North. The Cabin has had many upgrades and is very comfortable with all your needs. It has Dish network service for tv. Savage Lake is great for Swimming, Skiing, Tubing, Fishing and just soaking up the sun. New this season (2022) are 2 Kayaks for use on Savage Lake. Life vests and paddles are in the old boathouse below the cabin.. Please access the lake by the public boat launch. This Cabin has Savage Lake views and access to the lake from the North 1 house away at the public boat launch. We are located in rural Northwest Montana and it is a great place for a getaway and recharge time. We are situated in between the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness on the Montana side, and the Scapegoat Wilderness on the Idaho side. Views of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness, Fishing, Boating, Skiing, Golfing, Hiking and all outdoor activities! We are 3 miles from Troy (about 1000 residents) with Groceries, Gas, Ace Hardware, Bowling Alley, Library(with Internet access go to Lincoln County Library ( lclibraries), Movie Theater, Red Box, and State Hwy 56 access. Troy has a sit down restaurant and several sandwich shops. The Cabin is 18 miles from Libby, MT (About 2700 residents), it has Restaurants, Heritage Museum (with interesting old time mining and logging equipment) Grocery store, workout facilities and the beautiful Cabinet View Golf Course known for it's slow pace and reasonable green fees. Make time to visit the Swinging Bridge over the Kootenai River on the way to Libby. There is a nice hike to the Swinging Bridge with amazing views of the river. It's about 8 miles from the Cabin, and right on the left of the Highway towards Libby is the parking area. There are tennis and workout facilities in the Troy/Libby area, also several Steak Houses around the Cabin. Some horseback options are available check online for them. The Cabin is 150 miles from Spokane, Washington, which has many recreational opportunities. It's about a 1 hour drive to Sandpoint, Idaho, which is a gorgeous drive with great shopping, restaurants, antiquing and golfing and there is a fun downtown walking and shopping experience. It's good to get back to Troy after a fast paced day away. You will find good Montana fishing and rafting on the Kootenai and Yaak Rivers, where you should expect to be catching Rainbow trout. The Cabin is just a short distance to the Yaak River Country on the other side of Troy. This is the location of the popular Mountain Men program on T.V. It's very remote, please be sure to visit the Dirty Shame Bar up the Yaak which is a Montana tradition. My uncle was working up the Yaak for the Forest Service in the 1960's and is one of my earliest memories of coming to visit this area of Montana in the 60's. Uncle Dal helped to save the Ross Cedars from being logged back then and now they are being enjoyed for their special place in Montana thanks to him and his co-workers. The Ross Cedars are on the way to Thompson Falls just past Bull Lake, about 15 minutes from the Cabin. Enjoy your time here in Western Montana! -- Tom.

A little farther from the water and no beach
The owner is very kind but upon arrival it seemed as if the bathroom hadnt bern cleaned in a while. Also, the boat launch is only a boat launch, nobeach. We did go to a local campground about 20 min drive away and found a beautiful beach & lake at Bull Lake!

Thank you Heather for the kind review, glad you enjoyed yourself. Tom C.
It was a nice cabin, six of us fit with no problems. Beautiful area! The lake and the view of the mountains was amazing! We even got a nice summer thunder storm and watched the lightening over the mountains. Great location, only a few minutes from Bull Lake/Door Skeels Rec Area, Ross Creek Cedars and Libby.

Marianne --I am glad you enjoyed your stay, hope to say hello next time you and family come up. More than happy to have you folks back! Tom.
Overall it was in a nice spot, next to a lake with a mountain in the background. It is pretty much in the middle of no where. Just be warned there is nearly 0 cell reception there and no wifi. I can’t say it was a negative, it got the family off their devices and we enjoyed everything thing else in the area

Wonderful a little noisy
The house was equipped with everything you could need and then some! Beautiful lake, really nice host ! A little close to a main road you will hear lots of road noise. The house could use a good deep clean but other then that we had a nice stay.

It was horribly dirty when we arrived. There is dog hair everywhere. The toilet was not clean, bedding had dog hair on it, the couch was covered in hair. The place was so dirty and smelled of dog that we had to make other arrangements.

Quiet at night, road noise in daytime. Low price was good, nice on a lake. Run down interior but get what you pay for.

About the host
Hosted by Thomas Campbell
I was born in Montana, we are small business owners in the Corvallis, Montana area. We have 2 sons and 2 granddaughters which we have enjoyed at the cabin. Its fun to see the world from their viewpoint. We have owned this property since 2004 and have enjoyed the area and all of the local folks. They are very friendly and willing to help if they can.
Why they chose this property
Looking for a quiet area in Northwest Montana? THIS IS IT. Surrounded by the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness. Plenty of outdoor activities and a great place to recharge.
What makes this property unique
This is a fine place to get away from it all. Savage Lake has skiing, tubing, swimming, sun soaking and fishing (for bass and perch) fun for all the family. The Cabin is 3 miles from Troy (about 1000 residents) it has Groceries, Gas, Red Box, Ace Hardware, Bowling Alley, There is a sit-down restaurant -The Silver Spur and several sandwich shops in Troy. The Library in Troy has Internet access (lclibraries) I sit outside to check my e-mails, there is a Movie Theater. and State Hwy 56 access. The Cabin is 18 miles from Libby, MT (With About 2700 residents), Restaurants, Movie Theater, Red Box, The Heritage Museum (with old time mining and logging equipment from the past here in Montana) and nearby Cabinet View Golf Course which boasts a slow pace and reasonable green fees. There are tennis and workout facilities in Troy/Libby. It is 150 miles from Spokane, WA. Spokane has lots of entertainment opportunities, it is great for a day run, more fun for me at the slow-paced Cabin. It's About 1 hour from Sandpoint, ID which is known for shopping, restaurants and antiquing, a great downtown walking and shopping experience. Be sure to try the local hamburger joint in Sandpoint or Spokane named Zips they have great fry sauce, love their hamburgers also. On the other side of Bull Lake towards Thompson Falls (About 15 miles from Cabin) is Ross Cedars with a nice little hike in the 1000-year-old Cedars, which are impressive for Montana. There is great rafting and fishing for Rainbow Trout on the Yaak and Kootenai Rivers. This is a great experience to have in Montana. The Cabin is a short distance to the Yaak River Country on the other side of Troy, its the location of the popular Mountain Men program on T.V. It's very remote, and please be sure to visit the Dirty Shame Bar up the Yaak a Montana tradition.
