House across from pool close to dozens of great beaches - La Pequena Casa

La Pequena Casa (The Little House) might only have 1 bedroom but it lives large! With one large bedroom (queen size bed), a pull-out sofa (queen size) and a second sofa (twin size), it offers all the comforts of home.

The best part of any Costa Rican home is outside! Our house backs onto the jungle and you can often hear howler monkeys in the distance and they are sometimes visible in the trees. You enter the house from a shaded patio .... just 20 steps from the pool where you can enjoy sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. There are also two other pools in the community that are available for your use.

For your convenience:
- FREE wifi and cable tv
- air conditioning, ceiling fans, laundry, clothes line
- all linens are included (including beach towels)
- patio furniture (table and 4 chairs)
- briquette BBQ
- 2 beach chairs
- large cooler (to pick up groceries or take to the beach)
- equipped kitchen (including coffee maker, blender, pressure cooker)
- enjoy break, lunch or dinner in the on-site affordable restaurant
- 24-hour security

We are a short drive to multiple beaches in the area, each with a different flavor: great for walking, boogie boarding, surfing or lounging at the Tikki Hut for lunch and a drink.

Great beaches to explore:
Tamarindo is a vibrant surf destination within 35 minute drive of Eco Lagarto. Consider surf lessons or just enjoy a day in the shops and lunch on the playa. You can rent a boogie board for about $5 USD.
Playa Junquillal - a long stretch of beach with beautiful brown sand - this beach has a turtle breeding program
San Juanillo - a great calm beach, perfect for swimming - restaurant on the beach
Ostional - As one of the most important locations in the world to see turtles in Costa Rica, Ostional Wildlife Refuge is a must visit for animal lovers. Check their Facebook page for details on when the turtles are laying eggs or hatching dates.

The Eco Lagarto staff can arrange activities such as surf lessons, fishing trips, zip lining, turtle tours, natural hot spring tours, waterfall and wildlife hikes, jungle canopy tours, and more. Just ask. We speak your language.

Nice villa terrible location

The villa was clean and comfortable. Small kitchen but it had everything you need to cook. Comfortable bed! The property is far from everything. The road #160 is rough and long to get to the resort. Make sure you bring groceries because it is hard to find any close by. If you want somewhere to stay put and relax, not go out and explore you will be happy.

Nicely appointed property with everything you need

The villa is nicely appointed and had everything we needed. It was nice having very attentive property managers on-site who responded quickly to any of our needs. Not having been to this part of Costa Rica before, I misjudged timing and distances to places and I perhaps didn’t read the details of the property very well in terms of how long it would take to get to where there is more action and activity. In retrospect would have liked to have been closer to those, but if you’re looking for a remote, quiet area this place is for you. We really enjoyed the pool, which is just steps away from the villa.

Lovely place in the jungle

We stayed here in July. We typically visit Costa Rica in Jan-Feb. We are glad we finally saw it in its green season. What a lush time of year. You will need a 4-wheel drive to visit during this time of year. The roads can get muddy/wet. That was part of the fun and adventure for us. This house is well equipped with house wares, small appliances, games/activities, and a small library of books. It even has a cooler for trips to any of the close by beaches. We also explored Nosara and Tamarindo from here. It is the perfect, comfortable little house in the jungle.

Recomiendo este lugar, la casa totalmente equipada, muy limpia, el servicio que nos brindaron my oportuno, el lugar cuenta con seguridad 24 horas al dia. Todo el proyecto es muy apto para caminar con tranquilidad, el aera de la piscina muy agradable. Esta ubicado muy cerca de muchas playas muy bellas, como Lagarto, frijolar, Nilo, Pitaya, entre otras.

We love travelling ... and Costa Rica with its many beaches, waterfalls, mountains captured our hearts. The heat, the friendly people and the eco tourism brings us back to Costa Rica each year.

In additional to this vacation property, we also own a lakefront rental cottage in Ontario Canada ... just so that we can continue to enjoy the outdoors when we return home.

We have enjoyed sharing both properties with guests from around the world.

Why they chose this property

Eco Lagarto is in an underdeveloped area that is not heavily touristed. Yet. This is what initially attracted us to this Canadian built community but the friends we have made within the community is what we look forward to return to and what we miss when we leave.
The dilemma: sand, warm climate and great friends vs snow and family. Hmmm.
