We had a nice visit at Read Retreat! The house was clean and charming. We loved the natural materials used throughout the house and enjoyed the fireplace. The creek in the backyard was fun as well. We saw deer and turkeys!

Enjoyed our stay at this cabin we loved the beautiful backyard and fire pit. We sat out on the huge deck and watched the deer. Saw three black bear in the yard one night. The cabin was well equipped and clean. Would definitely love to come back!

We spent the weekend here as a home base with our two toddlers and had a great time. The girls loved playing on the deck and the home was quiet and peaceful.

The cabin was older, but we appreciated the excellent bathroom to bedroom ratio. The backyard had a nice creek for the kids to explore and the fire pit was nice. The hot tub did not heat up in a very timely manner so that was disappointing. We had trouble getting into the door since the lock keypad kept getting "stuck" but eventually it worked.

Dear Arielle, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the creek, fire pit, and layout of the cabin. We're sorry the hot tub took longer than expected to heat up, and we issued a refund for the hot tub fee in response to that inconvenience. We are glad enjoyed your time at the cabin!

What a slice of heaven in the mountains!! Our family enjoyed our stay at the Read Retreat! It was clean, and comfortable. We weren’t expecting so many steps to get into the front door, but we managed. Our grandchildren enjoyed the game room and observing the friendly deer from the large deck!! There aren’t deadbolts on the doors so beware if you have escaping toddlers! We were just a short drive to Beech Mountain which is an adorable little town!! Kimberly was very easy to communicate with!

The house was perfect for our family. Convenient to Beech, Hawksnest, the alpine coaster, etc. Well kept and charming. We loved seeing the deer around and exploring along the creek out back. The hot tub and game room were a hit with my kids.

The Read Retreat was a perfect little cabin with all the “essentials!” It is “UP” the mountain on a few twisty roads but, it’s not a bad drive at all and is in a good location to surrounding areas. We had lots of deer sightings and one black bear as well! I would highly recommend the Read Retreat!

We loved our stay at the Read Retreat! Having four bedrooms and four bathrooms was such a treat. The house was fully stocked with plenty of blankets, towels, and pillows, which made everything super comfortable. Kim even called to welcome us and make sure we got in okay—such a nice touch! Our kids loved the hot tub and fire pit! Just a heads up: make sure to grab your supplies before heading up, because it’s definitely tucked away in the mountains!

Wonderful ski vacation

The property was clean and had everything we needed during our stay. The owner responded quickly and the house was exactly as pictured. The hot tub was very nice after long days skiing and my boys loved feeding the deer with the corn that was supplied. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Avid ASU fans in for the ECU game.

Plenty of room for everyone and four full baths a definite plus. Hot tub, fire pit, carefree deer everywhere and of course the 5500 elevation views. A great place with room for everyone.
