Perfect for a long term visit

The location was perfect for visiting our children and enjoying our free time in Noe Valley and the city. The space allowed us to not feel confined and someone could watch tv while someone else read in the parlor with the fireplace. Communication with the owners was fast and easy.

So Very Enjoyable

This flat is extremely clean, comfortable, and located in Noe Valley, one of the safest, most welcoming neighborhoods in all of San Francisco ( my family lives in S.F.). The place is spacious and large enough for up to four people to be comfortable. Meleah, the owner, is so very accommodating and friendly, as is her husband Ray. We felt so very welcome and at home. As an added bonus, we never had a problem finding a parking space close by ( which is a problem in most areas of the city) even when we returned late at night. Restaurants, cafes, Whole foods, and many other establishments are close by as the home is only a half a block from 24th street, the main street in Noe Valley. In short, we can't wait to return. Wonderful apartment in excellent neighborhood !

I spent two wonderful months at Meleah and Ray's apartment. And I will be returning!!!! It is very spacious, cozy and in an excellent location. It is much larger than most units I researched which is a definite plus. You have the entire first level to yourself. The back yard was great for an occasional cup of coffee in the morning and so nice to look out to some green space as opposed to another building. I could walk to everything I needed and Noe Valley has some great shops and restaurants. A very friendly and fun neighborhood. There is a small park across the street. The kitchen is fully equipped, all one needs and more. Bed was very comfortable, great linens and bath towels. There is a washer and dryer which is shared and very useful when you rent for a month or more at a time. Meleah is very friendly and responsive and it was very easy to communicate with her. She provided me with some suggestions for fun events that I could attend while I was there. An excellent host! I was very pleased with the parking situation. Although there is no dedicated spot, I never had to park more than a block or 2 from the apartment which made street parking very convenient. And as noted in the listing, none of those 2 hr only or by permit only parking situations as in other parts of Noe Valley. I will definitely stay here again !

We stayed for a month here and really enjoyed ourselves. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and attractive. Wonderful location, adequate street parking, a beautiful backyard! Meleah and Ray were responsive and friendly; check-in and communication with them was easy. We would happily stay here again!

THE place to stay while in SF!

I fully enjoyed my stay at Meleah and Ray's home. Fabulous location in Noe Valley - close to 24th Street with shops, restaurants, farmers market, grocery. Wonderful to see families walking about; very residential feel. Excellent transportation options to head anywhere in the city - I was going to work in the downtown financial district and had 4 options to consider. The apt is more than comfortable, very clean, with all sorts of amenities so I felt like I was in a home. Well stocked kitchen items, gas stove, shared washer/dryer. Comfortable queen size bed with heated mattress pad (if needed). Sofa bed for guests with sheets, pillows, comforter. Internet and TV. Supplies include: laundry detergent, tp, paper towels, soap,spices - the items that are a pain to purchase for a short term stay. Meleah was a wonderful host by being open to answer any questions, provide suggestions. I was looking for a place that would feel like a home and I found it! I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great location, all the amenities we needed, spacious

We really enjoyed the Noe Valley apartment. Meleah met us at the apartment and explained everything thoroughly. We enjoyed being able to "live" in Noe Valley for a week. We decided not to rent a car and found it very easy to get around on foot (lots of great walking), by the J Streetcar, and by cab (once). We would definitely stay at the apartment again.

Well deserved five stars

Meleah's apartment was a real treat. Spacious, clean, great neighborhood. Felt like real San Franciscans walking 24th street and enjoying the shops and restaurants. Farmer's market was fun, and the general location can't be beat. Great base for further exploration of SF and the surrounding areas. We feel fortunate that of all the possibilities for our stay in SF we wound up in this wonderful HomeAway. And working with Meleah was an added bonus. Great communicator, and she really made us feel at home. It was a long way from our home in Annapolis, but we would love to return some day.

Great place in Noe Valley!

We loved our month long stay in this apartment! It was very comfortable and super clean. We have stayed in several places but this one is by far the most spacious, tons of room. The kitchen is well equipped, we didn't cook much but certainly could have. Oh and the bed was super comfy. Meleah went out of her way to help us prepare the sofa bed for a short visit from our son and family, bringing a foam pad to make the bed really comfortable. We look forward to staying at this apartment again, it's a gem in a beautiful neighborhood!

Wonderful!

Great apartment: very nicely furnished, pleasant spaces, well equipped kitchen, good quality laundry machines one floor down, big beautiful back yard, giant walkin closet. Meleah and Ray are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They even supplied bathrobes--something we appreciated. We are two academics who need two workspaces and it was easy to set that up. Many visitors to San Francisco may not realized how cold accommodations can be in the winter. This apartment is WARM since almost all of the windows have been replaced with new tightly fitting windows and the heating system is effective. This apartment is very well located--off of 24th Street in Noe Valley, a street full of charming restaurants and shops. I would recommend this property to relatives and friends.

Really enjoyed our stay, would come again

My wife and I spent 8 nights here in December, 2016. We really enjoyed our stay. It was very clean and comfortably and tastefully furnished and well stocked with towels and kitchen equipment and SF guide books. The WiFi worked flawlessly. It was very quiet and on a quiet street, a few blocks from a frequent bus which was a short ride to the Castro subway station which has 4 trains back and forth to downtown so we never had to wait for a train. Meleah was very helpful and quickly responding when booking. Lots of restaurants within a short walk and lots more near the Castro subway station. The Castro Theatre is right there too. We would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends and relatives.

A Gem in Noe Valley

I used to live in this comfortable residential neighborhood and this unit reminded me of why I had moved there. It is spacious, clean, and comfortable. We did use the sofa bed so did not enjoy the living room as it was meant to be, but there is still a separate comfortable sitting room with couch and chairs, a rarity in SF. The kitchen is spacious enough to whet any chef's appetite and includes separate space for dining. And each day started with morning coffee on the small back porch or in the beautiful and spacious back garden. Owner is very friendly and lives right above you in case you need anything, though for us everything was right there.

This rental was absolutely perfect. It is in a lovely neighborhood, clean, and comfortable.

I rented this unit for several weeks and found it to fit my needs exactly. The owners are accommodating and could not have been more helpful. The unit is spacious and clean. I would have no hesitation renting or recommending this unit again. Thanks for a great stay!

perfect accommodations in a wonderful neighborhood

This was our first trip to San Fran so we really had no idea where we were staying in relation to sites we wanted to see. We couldn't have been luckier or happier. This neighborhood is a safe, young-family orientated neighborhood that is a short bus, cable car or Muni ride to all of the sites you want to see! It is centrally located, so a Muni in any direction is not a far or confusing trip. Meleah was responsive to all of my emails and gave us some great tips on what to see/eat/do and the public transportation lines nearby. The accommodations were perfect! Everything we needed and more! We were walking distance to many shops, Whole Foods, restaurants and the transit. And it was fantastic to have a coffee shop right on the corner since we got in late our first night and could walk there in the morning. It was so nice to spend our days in the hustle and bustle of all that San Fran has to offer and then come 'home' to our quiet comfortable apartment. If we are ever back we will definitely see if this place is available. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to see San Fran!

Cozy & light rooms with all the amenities I needed. Private & quiet but hosts available next door if needed. Btw they were very warm & helpful. Great location from my daughter & family's home. Park across the street, coffee shop nearby. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect position

We stayed here for three weeks in July. We chose this apartment because it was close to our son and his family and it was perfect. It is roomy, well equipped and totally private. We loved that there was a park with playground opposite, a bus stop on the corner and a short walk to the fabulous 'village' along 24th Street. Against all odds, from the other side of the world, we found the perfect place!

The perfect place to stay in San Francisco

We love spending time in San Francisco and try to go up for a week each year, in addition to shorter trips, as we only live about 90 minutes away in Santa Cruz. We have stayed in Noe Valley several times before, as we think it has the perfect location and feel of any neighborhood in the city. This property exceeded all others in almost every way. Incredibly clean, with a spacious kitchen with every amenity, excellent bathroom, both a living room and a den, ground floor location (no steps to climb) easy street parking (a real plus in San Francisco) and located a minute away from the main shopping and eating street in Noe Valley. Buses and the metro are easy walks as well as its a breeze walking to the vibrant Mission District with incredible restaurants, bars and a great variety of building murals. The just reopened SFMOMA, now one of the top contemporary museums in the world is a easy 20 minute metro ride away. Throw in a very reasonable and fair price and you have a can't beat place to stay in one of the most interesting and scenic cities in the world. A winner on every level!

home-like stay in Noe Valley

We stayed for the Nth time in Meleah and Ray's cosy condo. Perfect for us because it's just steps from the home of our daughter and granddaughters. If the furniture is a little eclectic and it does not get a lot of sun, it is spacious compared to most vacation rentals in the city and the cheerful, interesting owners go WAY beyond the call of duty to make you feel at home. There is a lovely shared garden at the back. Parking is an issue but we have learned to cope, and it must be good because we keep coming back. If it were not for our family ties, I am not sure we would choose Noe Valley: a hike to the BART, a walk to the J-train, and the affluent locals mean that restaurant prices are sometimes out of line with the quality. A lot of "cute boutiques" if you like that sort of thing. A nice playground for the under-sixes and a public tennis court across the street, plus a fabulous local bookstore with Story Time 3 times a day makes it really nice for the younger kiddies. So I would definitely recommend to friends and relatives, provided their profile is similar to ours (lots of child-minding, not too much time indoors in the daytime, no need to commute downtown or across the Bay).

A wonderful retreat in the city

We stayed two weeks in this exceptional flat. The flat is very spacious with comfortable furnishings, the kitchen is equipped for dining in, and the flat was well maintained and very clean. The quiet neighborhood is relaxing from the busy city, yet still offers excellent services and dining within walking distance. Bus stops are conveniently near by and provide a means of exploring the city without the need for a vehicle. In addition to the small public park across the street, larger public open space with dirt running trails are accessible. Meleah was a gracious host, friendly, courteous, and available if we had questions, yet provided privacy. This was an excellent find, and a gem we would rent again.

Perfect location in a great neighborhood

The property was exactly as advertised and pictured. It's a charming, roomy first floor Victorian perfectly located in Noe Valley. Plenty of room for two or a small family, with a single bedroom and bathroom, but with a convertible bed in a front sitting room. The kitchen is large and well stocked. The owners are on site and accessible and very helpful. Parking proved easier than anticipated, almost always within a block or so. Across the street from a bus stop, with a Muni stop within a few blocks. A Whole Foods market about 4-5 blocks away on 24th St and two Safeways within a short drive. Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance including: steps away to Philz Coffee (where the cops hang out); Firefly (lively local) and Rin's (Thai) on the corners; Contigo (tapas) and Bacco (Italian) within two blocks. Breakfast at Boulanger de Noe Valley. A bit further by car/taxi/Uber to Aster (one Michelin star), La Ciccia/La Nebbia (Sardinian) and several stops in Glen Park a short drive away including Gialina (great pizza), La Cornetta (taqueria), La Pit't Laurent (French) and a BART station. Venture out if you have a car: walk the Golden Gate Bridge, visit Twin Peaks for an unbelievable view of the city, shop 4th Street in Berkeley , drive down the coast to Montana Bay for dinner at La Costanera (Peruvian) for a great sunset and on occasion a view of migrating whales), drive to Muir Woods or up the coast to Tamales Bay for fresh oysters and a beer. Napa and Sonoma are only 1 1/2 hours away. Staying in a place like Noe Valley gives a different, local, non-tourist view of a great city.

Delightful stay!

Wonderful spot with easy walk to shops, restaurants and market. Park with playground across the street. Bedroom overlooks backyard and is super quiet for a good night's sleep. Felt like home. Many thanks to Meleah for sharing this gem!

Great location, great living space

Had a last minute family/business trip and found this gem in Noe Valley. Just delightful for my wife and I and our 1 year old. A tip to parents: the large main hall storage area can nicely fit a pack'n'play with plenty of room to spare and worked great for naps and night times for our little one. The toddler park (complete with toys, stroller-friendly ramp access, child proof gate, and rubberized play surface) and adjacent dog park made for great fun and great atmosphere in the surrounding neighborhood. The one downside, and I have every confidence this is being addressed, was that the wifi internet was unusable. There was a combination of Comcast and router issues at play and after speaking with Meleah and Ray it sounded like they were looking into it further. While we were there though, we could only catch the signal in the front two rooms of the house and even then checking email was virtually impossible, let alone watching Netflix. We were relegated to our phones, which had blazing fast service thanks to Verizon, a very pleasant turn of events. All of this paled in comparison to the high upsides for this place though. Philz Coffee shop on the corner is amazing, as is Rin's Thai on the other corner. Quick, painless access throughout the city while still being on a quiet street. Parking was generally fairly close even with our small SUV rental though the park and coffee shop do draw a fair amount of vehicles throughout the day. The backyard is just heavenly and we wished we could have spent more time there. The kitchen was outstanding, the bathroom was great (might want to check for soap/shampoo before settling in), the tv and cable were great...we loved the place! Definitely keeping this on our minds for the next time we return to the city. Thank you Meleah and Ray!

Thank so much for the review, and we're very sorry you experienced the internet connectivity problems during your visit. Normally we've had very good service. Unfortunately while you were here we experienced an intermittently slow Comcast connection. After checking with Comcast and some neighbors who also use their service, it appears they were having some problems on that end. We recently tested the speed and it's been showing a download of 121.83 mps and an upload of 12.18, so I think the Comcast end of things has been resolved, but to address the wireless signal strength in the farther reaches of the house we are replacing the current router with a new one that covers a bigger area. Thanks again for taking the time to write a nice review. Hope to see you back again!

Lots of room, great location

Booked for my son and 11 year old grandson. Lots of room to spread out for two, but could accommodate larger family. An older property, but charming and well appointed. Quiet neighborhood with restaurants and coffee shops all around. About four blocks from Noe Valley shopping and dining and the Muni J line which travels all the way to the Embarcadero or downtown in one direction or the Glen Park BART station in the other. Parking was generally easy but a car is not necessary to enjoy the neighborhood, although it is hilly, or the city. Public transportation is relatively inexpensive and easier to use than you might think. Neihgborhood restaurants include Rin's (Thai), Firefly, Bacco (Italian), Fresca (Peruvian), Zinc (French), La Ciccia (Sardinian). Recommend walking the Golden Gate Bridge, a day at the Exploratorium or Academy of Science, the view from Twin Peaks, a stroll through the farmers market on Saturday at the Ferry Building, drinks at the Cliff House at Land's End at sundown, browsing City Lights bookstore in North Beach. The owner is on site and was accommodating and accessible.

2nd Visit in Wonderful Place

We book this lovely apartment for my parents whenever they visit. The location is wonderful, with easy walking to Whole Foods and area restaurants. It is large and comfortable for a couple, allowing them to relax and cook in their own place before seeing the grandkids. There are only a few stairs up, which is a big plus compared with other places in SF where they needed to lug their luggage up flights. They also love the easy bus routes that pass within a block, allowing them to tour the city on their own. A great find we will use again and again!
