Upscale renovated cozy adobe Casita only 2 walking blocks to the plaza area (with top rated restaurants, shopping & art galleries - you can also walk to Canyon Road!), AND 1 block to the road that goes to the Santa Fe Ski Basin (12 miles) and 10,000 Waves spa (3.5 miles). You'll be in the middle of everything while enjoying the peace & quiet of a local.
This home is very open with charming wood vigas in the ceilings, newly plastered walls, collector's art, & all the comforts you will require. There are 2 full private bedrooms and a Scandinavian designed sleepers sofa with solid support and foam mattress - surprisingly (yet intentionally) very comfortable! In addition, you'll enjoy 2 FULL BATHS (a rare find) that are themselves spa quality with high-end stone tile, top-of-the-line fixtures and plush comfy towels. You'll have your own private fenced in yard to enjoy morning coffee or a relaxing glass of wine at sunset; or if you'd rather, just walk up to the top of the hill of our street and you'll be at the Cross of the Martyrs (Ft. Marcy Hill), which has the most amazing views of the city and mountain vistas...AND to die for sunsets!!! I take a lot of pride in my home. This is not a typical vacation rental, it is my 2nd home. I want you to experience it and enjoy it, but please take care of it. If you cannot, please don't book it. If you do not have any reviews, or have any negative reviews, please do not instant book. Contact owner to discuss booking possibilities.

We were in Wrightsville Beach for my mom’s funeral and to make it more difficult it poured the entire time. This did not dampen this wonderful spot. Such a beautiful condo. It was great to be within walking distance of everything when there were lulls in the storm. Crisp clean condo with a full view of the ocean can not be beat. Heidi is communicative and helpful. I am from the area so didn’t really need recommendations but I did notice she sent along lots of good recs prior to my stay. I will be back under better circumstances and weather!
The house has been redone in a beautiful way and the location is great. We usually walked every day to the center and around. One disappointment was the patio area which is sand with not very comfortable chairs. I’m sure they intend to upgrade this area, but it was a little disappointing particularly because we like to spend time outside while in Santa Fe.

When I advertised this listing I purposely had zero photos or description of the patio area because it was very basic at the time. There were no expectations to be met to be disappointed about. The patio has since been totally renovated.
Our September GetawayWe had the pleasure of making Whyte Casita our home for the month of September, and every moment was a delight. Nestled in the charming neighborhood just below The Cross of the Martyrs, this beautiful little house offers a perfect blend of comfort and convenience.Downtown Santa Fe is within walking distance, making it easy to explore the city’s vibrant culture and attractions. A short stroll up the hill leads to the Cross of the Martyrs, where we were treated to breathtaking views of the New Mexico sunsets. The house boasts two cozy bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a full-sized washer and dryer, a professional gas range, secure on-street parking, a fully stocked kitchen, and, my personal favorite, a charming kiva fireplace that we cherished during our nightly gatherings. The outdoor patio area, fenced in with a table and seating, provides a delightful space to savor a meal or relax with afternoon cocktails. This was our first rental experience with a Vrbo-like service, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The month we spent in Santa Fe felt like home, and we can’t wait to return to Whyte Casita in the future.
We have traveled to Santa Fe numerous times over 20 years and enjoyed seeing the all the surrounding ‘must see’s’. We usually felt rushed so our dream for years has been to stay for a month. We wanted to be within walking distance to the Plaza and only drive somewhere if we felt really compelled to do so. This home was perfect for a couple looking for an escape. First, it is beautifully renovated and furnished. We spent many hours in the private shaded courtyard. Early morning coffee with a light jacket was heaven for us coming from a much warmer locale.
David was the perfect host and responded to any questions we had. The neighborhood was safe and we enjoyed visiting with neighbors on our multiple daily walks. We appreciated the thoughtfully furnished kitchen and spa feeling bathrooms.
This place was just what we wanted and needed. It was a retreat with very comfortable beds to help us to rest and de-stress and a location close enough to get to the action when ready.
So now we are spoiled and will want to return to this location again!

Unfortunate Experience
Very disappointing. I had to park my car in the street because there is no driveway to this home. My car was broken into and I had many things stolen. The police were able to retrieve the suitcase of clothes but my 4 pair of expensive shoes were gone, along with other expensive items. Sunglasses, boots, medicine…
Also, there were a huge amount of bugs inside the home. They were swarming elm seed beetles. It took two weeks before they were under control. By then I moved out and never went back. I have pictures. The owner was receptive to my calls.
The walkway to the house was unsafe. It was very narrow and uneven steps.
I was hoping a friend of mine would come visit but when I told her of the trouble I was having she declined to come.

I'm very sorry that this didn't work out but both things were beyond my control. The house HAS NEVER been advertised with off street parking and you knew that prior to booking the casita. The police tried to assure you that you were in a very safe area and car break in's or any type of crime rarely happen there.
The elm seed beetles were swarming Santa Fe during your visit. I had pest control over there twice during the 2 weeks that you stayed at the casita and they explained to you that they were swarming and it could take up to 2 weeks for them to go away. I'm also under contract with a pest control company and they spray regularly. The walkway is an old stone walkway and it is lit up with lights. Again, I hate that you were disappointed.
This is one of my favorite vacation rentals ever. The house is small but "lives" big, with an ample outdoor living area and windows that open easily to let the mountain air indoors. The kitchen is beautiful and has most everything you'd need. The house is incredibly well-kept and clean. And the best part - you can walk to the Santa Fe Plaza in less than 10 minutes. It's a fantastic location. We used our car less on this trip than any previous Santa Fe trip. Cannot wait to stay there again!
David was great communicating back on refrigerator noise. The outdoor space was wonderful I could picture come comfy outdoor furniture in the future. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
Very clean and well appointed with high end appliances and furniture. Has everything one would need, and felt like our home away from home. It is in an excellent location, easily walk to all the shops and restaurants. If you have a dog, great little park at the top of the street to walk them to. Very responsive property owner and I can not recommend enough. We will be back!
Perfect downtown location in a clean, cozy, upscale casita. David was quick to respond to any questions we had and very professional. Loved this casita! Love Santa Fe!!!
Great location, close to everything.
Very comfortable accommodations.
Any problems were quickly resolved by the owner.
Would highly recommend, and would consider a return stay.
Great place to stay during our recent getaway to visit friends in Santa Fe. Close to everything but felt like you were in the country it was so quiet. Beds incredibly comfortable! Everything you would need and more. David was a great communicator and responded quickly to our questions before we booked. The home was clean and well furnished. The kitchen was amazing! We cooked dinner for our friends and I found everything I needed readily available. Would stay there again...
David, the property owner, was very accommodating. I had questions about the location because I was traveling with my elderly aunt and David responded immediately. It is about a 7 minute walk to the Plaza and an easy walk to many nice dining spots. The casita is nicely decorated and cones with everything you might need: dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, body wash , etc. The mattresses in the 2 bedrooms are superb. Both my aunt and I slept very well. Far better than staying at a standard hotel room. Towels were plentiful. AC worked great on a very hot weekend. Wholeheartedly recommend Whyte’s Casita!
A great week at a beautiful home in a perfect location
We enjoyed a great week! The location was perfect. We enjoyed 10-15 minute walks to the Plaza and Canyon Road, as well as evening walks up to Cross of the Martyr to watch the sunset and have amazing views of Santa Fe. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty. The house is very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and very clean. The kitchen is fully equipped. We ate breakfast and a few lunches at the house, but there were enough pots/pans etc to prepare a full dinner. We enjoyed going to the nearby Santa Fe Farmers Market at the Railyard for some of the groceries. We sat outside in the fenced-in courtyard in the mornings and evenings. The home has obviously been decorated and supplied with great care. We would be happy to return again!
If you want to be close to the Santa Fe Plaza this place is fantastic! The place came furnished very well with some of the most comfortable beds I've slept on! The towels and linens were great and the showers are very nice. If you decide to cook this place has high end appliances as well. Furniture is like new and the place was clean! Check in with David was a breeze!
I highly endorse this place. I hope to come back and stay here soon!

About the host
Hosted by David Whyte
I was born in New Orleans and have lived there almost my entire life. My husband is from Albuquerque, so Santa Fe has become my second home, and I love it so much, we bought this property. I am a real estate agent in the New Orleans area. Real estate is my entire life. I love all aspects of it. In my free time I love staying fit, collecting art, and spending as much time with family as possible. I love checking out the local cuisine, art galleries and boutiques that are just around the corner.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property because I fell in love with Santa Fe and all that it has to offer.
What makes this property unique
This property is very special to us because we've literally restored it from the ground up. When we purchased it in 2018, it wasn't even livable. We've renovated it to a level that we're proud to call home. It's not your typical vacation rental. It's just 2 blocks to the Plaza, 3.5 miles to 10,000 Waves and 12 miles to the ski basin. literally everything is convenient.
