About this property

The Grove House - antique lakefront home on Eagle Lake, Central Florida

This unique 108-year-old grove owners manor is located on Eagle Lake and is neighbored by citrus groves.

The sizable two-story building reflects a style and time long past, typical to the region. The interiors has many of the original furnishings, hardwood flooring and oriental rugs.

The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a full bathroom en suite, with an additional second bathroom.

The 50 ft screened veranda is comfortably furnished with wicker furniture and overlooks Eagle Lake. Delightful on balmy evenings, with lake breezes and spectacular sunsets.

Many different types of native birds, from egrets to herons can be watched on the lake-side lawn, but the main feature are the many eagles nesting in the surrounding oak trees and bamboo grove on the property.

Great boating and fishing. The best angling is right off the property's shoreline.

Eagle Lake is a designated for sea planes.

*Please note: no personal boats can be launched from the property's lake front. A public boat ramp is located 4 minutes from the home. The concrete launch pad there is designed for easy-in, easy-out launching.

Grove house

Needs a lot of work. 1. Bedding would not stay on bed. Mattress pad kept coming off- poor quality. Limited hot water. Had to wait at least 10-15 miniutes between two quick showers for both to have hot water. The lake view was terrific but this time of year the blind mosquitoes (midges) we’re so bad you couldn’t stay near the water. The nice poarch was redone but needs new cushions and pillows to make chairs comfortable. We found the kitchen to be minimal and preparing meals challenging. It is a neat old grove estate that needs a little more fixing up for the price

Beautiful vintage house

We loved staying at this beautiful vintage house! It was perfect for our week long stay. So much more comfortable than a hotel. It was quiet and off the beaten path, but close to what we needed. Everything we needed was there!

I really enjoyed my stay. It was perfect. It was beautiful and peaceful. The bed was comfortable and I slept great. I enjoyed being able to cook while I was there. I enjoyed meeting the property manager Sandy. So helpful and nice. Was so excited to actually talk with the owner and she was so nice also. Thank you Ann for everything! It was so covenient to places to go and eat and even church. THANKYOU again for providing a wonderful place for me to stay ! I will be coming back and stay even longer the next trip.

A wonderful retreat

I was looking for a relatively secluded place were I could be alone for a couple weeks. This was a fantastic place! The area is quite, and the lake setting is very beautiful and relaxing. Inside, the house has a charming "grandma's house" feel, and it is fully stocked with all the linens, towels, soaps, etc, as well kitchen supplies. One will find everything they need to stay comfortably for as long as they need. The library and sitting room were some of my favorite parts. However, the real star of the show is the large veranda. I practically lived out there. It is very well enclosed, so no big issues, and provides a beautiful view of the lake and nature. The sunsets were spectacular! I actually brought my own plastic adirondack chair, because I usually don't like wicker furniture. However, the furniture out there is actually pretty comfortable. One could sit out there all day and night, enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There are permanent tenants living on the 2nd floor, however they were hardly noticeable. I never even saw them in person over 2 weeks. The lake is quite, with only light boat traffic. If you wanted, I believe you can even use a nearby boat launch, and shore your boat on the property's shoreline. While one could easily stay on the property all day, as I did, there's also plenty of attractions near by. The house has a binder with local restaurants and attractions, as well as shopping and grocery stores. This place is absolutely beautiful, and I plan to come back if I get the chance. I've already refered several friends and even my parents to go there. I think you'll love it to.

The lake in the backyard is so nice to come ‘home’ to.

Wonderful old charm everywhere you turn. Relaxing screened back porch with views of the lake and birds in the trees. Egrets walking around the lawn. On a dead end road, quiet and peaceful. Almost forgot, the sunsets are beautiful! Everything we wanted was right there, inside and out.

Why they chose this property

I inherited this property from my mother, who in turn took it over from my grandmother.
The neighboring groves have long been sold off to my next-door neighbor, who is one of the largest citrus growers in Florida.
This house represents a major slice of my family's history and it was handed down to me to be its new caretaker and owner.

What makes this property unique

The view, it's all about the view from the veranda. Not just the lake and its amazing sunsets, it's the wildlife that surrounds the building, bird calls, flocks of egrets, soaring eagles above.
The privacy of the property is unique without living in the wilderness.
