Like being in tropical heaven. Property is amazing and accommodations are conducive for total relaxation. Will stay here many more tines in the future.
My family of 4 loved this rustic home. The property is gorgeous and we loved all the frogs, birds and sounds of nature. It’s secluded and private, but not too far from all the sights of the island. Plenty of drinking water was provided, as well as all other kitchen and bath amenities to make our stay comfortable. The screened in porch was a perfect hangout. Linda was a great host and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay here again!
I have lived in Hawaii and also stayed on vacation several times. Linda’s rainforest home is truly the most unique and peaceful stay I’ve had. The home is super clean, and comfortable. Location to volcano park is the best you can get outside the NP. We spent the day at the park, came back home for dinner, found out the volcano was erupting (thank you Linda!) and zipped back to the park to view the glow of red lava! Falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest is the best! You could spend hours just exploring the home’s beautiful rainforest surroundings! If you don’t stay here you’re missing out on the best of Hawaii. Shout out to Linda for being a super host and always responding quickly to questions! Mahalo! We hope to return someday!
The stay was wonderful my family really loved the place and will be back next year me and my husband live just down the road from the lodge and my husband mom and aunt and cousin came and stayed in the lodge and fell in love with it .so they will rent it again next year.
Our family had an amazing vacation at this location. The house was superb and had so many amenities. The property was beautiful. Can’t wait to go back!
Very well maintained property. Clean and neat with all the necessary facilities. We had a wonderful stay, thoroughly enjoyed it. Experienced the rainforest in an idyllic home. My kids wished we could stay forever!!
Our family enjoyed our stay at Lehua Lodge! It felt like home. The owners were easy to communicate with and very friendly. The fully screened lanai was peaceful and I enjoyed the beautiful yard!
The home was very comfortable for a family of four - ample space for eating, relaxing, and sleeping. The property is situated is beautiful Hawaiian nature, offering beauty right off the doorstep. Very accessible to visit Volcanoes National Park. Linda was a great host - clearly communicating check-in procedures.

Very homey feeling Hawaii-style! The kitchen was great, I found everything I needed. The beds were big and comfortable, plenty of blankets for cool evenings in the rain forest. The cute little electric fire place was adorable and the family sat around it. Everything was so clean and welcoming. The washer and dryer were excellent for all the beach towels and laundry. very family friendly.
We really wanted a place to stay that was surrounded by nature and this place did not disappoint. Beautiful property and all the amenities needed to have a relaxing “home away from home” experience. The only difficulty was having to leave. :). The bed is super comfy and it is very clean and nicely decorated. We would definitely stay here again!
As mentioned in the listing, this place is a cozy getaway in the Ohia rainforest. While it's not a modern abode, its rustic charm is perfect if you’re looking for a country retreat. The water here comes from a catchment system, and even though we ran out on our third night, the host was super quick to refill our tank and fix a clogged filter issue.
This spot is great if you want to escape city life, soak up some nature, and listen to the coqui frogs at night. It gives you a safe, secluded experience without missing out on basics like water, electricity, and internet.

Beautiful yard and cute little house
It is a lovely place to stay. It is fairly clean and tidy. It smells a little mildewy but I think given time of year, and environment, hard to control. The yard is marvelous.
I was disappointed there was no hot tub as the listing indicated there is one. The TV is a smart tv and functional, but doesn't have hardly any apps to use.
We wanted to stay in a couple of different environments on our getaway to the Big Island, and this Mountain View home situated on 2 acres of tropical rainforest fit the bill nicely. Home was clean and the kitchen was well appointed. Beds were comfortable. Spent much of our time on the screened-in lanai. The grounds were appointed with many tropical flowers and plants. Home was in a quiet neighborhood, located about half way between Hawaii Volcanoes Nat'l Park and Hilo. Trips to Akaka Falls, Hawaii Tropical Bioeserve and Gardens, and Waipio Valley were all within an hour/hour and half drive.
Property manager was friendly, communicative and helpful.
Driving up to Hale Lehua was like coming to a sanctuary, with peace resonating through the So Much Green. We saw a few endemic birds from the mosquito-free screened in lanai, and listened to the rain on the roof and the frogs calling at night. If you don’t like frog and birdsong, or rural tranquility, this spot is not for you, but if you do, it can be idyllic. Linda was proactive as well as quick to respond to any questions. One note of caution: remember bring your insect repellent: rainforests are ideal mosquito habitat.

This property is centrally located between Hilo and Volcano in a quiet neighborhood. It was a great location for going hiking in both Puna and Volcano (about a 20 minute drive to each, this is not really due to distance, just small roads that do not tolerate speed). It has beautiful gardens surrounding the place and a screen porch that you can sit on listening to the coqui frogs at night. While it is in a neighborhood of 2 acre lots, the landscaping makes it feel like you are miles and miles away from other people and you do not even hear road noise. It would be super for someone needing a quiet place to write or just decompress from the world.
Some things to consider when booking this place (not complaints at all, just things to consider) are that it is only partially on grid with the water supply being a roof catchment. They do provide bottled water for drinking and ice so that is not an issue. The kitchen is quite functional (although there is no dishwasher, so dishes need to be handwashed) and we cooked dinner every night we stayed since the house is somewhat far from any restaurants or stores (stock up in Hilo before going to the house and you will be comfortable).
The house does have internet that works quite well and on grid electric, and there was plenty of hot water for showers for the four of us. The two queen beds were both really comfortable and we had plenty of room for our family of four adult sized people.
