Extremely clean, plenty of dishes . Bring your Own Roku box if you chose to watch television. TV’s are there but service was taken out due to Hurricane Helene. Not all windows have blinds. But bathrooms & bedrooms do have them. Owner most kind. Cornhole on site to play outdoor games. Perfect for families and those traveling with a pet. Owner provided toilet paper, paper towels, and map of area. She can also provide a copious list of area restaurants to dine at. Fireplace lovely. Gas equipped as outdoor grill also gas equipped. Outdoor area to picnic under cover.
We booked this cabin somewhat last minute for a quick getaway to see some family. Location was right outside Sparta and an easy commute. Property was very clean and had all the basics. Really enjoyed the remote feel of the cabin and the kids enjoyed playing near the river. Overall will likely be back if the need arises.

Nice getaway
This was a nice place for what we needed it for, a place to sleep while in town for a wedding. Unfortunately the location “pin” on the map show is not correct. When we booked it, it is pinned off willow lane which is where many of our friends live, which is why we chose it. This cabin is in fact across the river and about a 8-10 minute drive away from where our friends were. This was the entire reason we chose this cabin and we didn’t realize until we arrived that the location wasn’t where it said it was. That just needs to be corrected. Otherwise, all else was fine.
This cottage was close to what we needed - grocery, restaurants, wedding venue, and even a cute little brewery! Our kids loved exploring the property - the cottage itself and the stream and trails around. The manager promptly responded to our noticing a nest on the property after one of our children got stung - we were very impressed! The only negative was finding a pair of woman’s underwear tucked in the couch cushions.

Disappointed
No toilet paper, no soap, no Kleenex, no instructions on how to turn on heat or gas logs, broken lamp in one of bedrooms, bathroom door would not lock.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Sparta area! This is a nice secluded spot but still close enough to town to run and get things you need. We will definitely visit again.
We enjoyed our stay in Rivers Edge. Just what we needed! Quiet and remote, yet just 10 minutes from the cutest downtown.
The interior was clean, comfortable, and as listed. The cabin is beautifully furnished with nice antiques. The propane fireplace was excellent and could warm nearly the entire house. We had a windy night the first night and it knocked out the WiFi/ internet connection for most of the weekend. The owner was very nice and immediately responsive. She tried to get the internet company to fix the connectivity issues but they weren't able to send anyone out while we were there.
The 2 downstairs bedrooms are small but adequate and are independently temperature controlled which was nice. But flooring in loft made them not as private as you might expect.
The bathrooms were clean and fully functional. The kitchen was clean and small but well equipped with everything you need to cook.
Outside the rippling river made a soothing sound. The leaves were beautiful this time of year so we had a kaleidoscope of color as we walked the surrounding trails.
The driveway was a bit tricky as the last 75 ft are not paved, so just drive slowly.
My family had an excellent time in sparta. This cabin is in a great location of Sparta. Very private and the creek by the house was very peaceful listening to from the porch. Some small walking trails on the property too. We had everything we needed in this cabin. Would definitely stay here again.
We wanted to get away for some rest and relaxation. This was accomplished! We fished, played in the river, enjoyed watching the deer, and explored. Our fur baby also had a great time! He especially loved all the sights and sounds nature had to offer. We had an amazing time! We will hopefully return soon. Host, Susan was great!
The spot where the cabin is at is perfect. Right by the river, easy acess to fishing/swimming/tubing. There is a big covered porch on one side where you can sit out and just listen to the water. Plenty of parking for at least 4 cars. Town is only about 5 minutes away as well.
Here are some cons about the place as no place is perfect. The cabin is a bit dated. There is no central A/C. There is two window units and ceiling fans to help. But that leaves the top floor and a bedroom without A/C. The cabin is on the smaller side so a big group, say 6+, would find it a bit cramped. Fishing at this particular spot of the river is a bit harder as this spot is a popular spot and may be fished out already. And the road to get to the cabin has a big pot hole on it which will be difficult if your vehicle is lower.
Overall a great spot and I would definitely rent again. Maybe just add another window unit to the other bedroom for hotter days
Easy to get to and close to the grocery store. Wonderful creek access. Cabin was a great layout. Not as private as I had anticipated, but overall a good stay and would go back.
The location was very nice. Sitting on the river made it very convenient and enjoyable. As another review stated, the house needs to be updated with central air. In the late afternoon the heat of the day made it a little muggy inside even with the windows up. Of course by early morning things cooled down. There were a number of dead trees on the property that needed to be taken down. We had to wait about 20 minutes or so for the realtor to get back to the office to take us to the place. Normally not a big deal, but my wife was sick. But overall it was a pleasant experience.
We were in Sparta to attend the Blue Ridge Fiber Festival...which was an awesome event...in an awesome little town. Everyone was so friendly and kind. The cabin was the icing. There was a bit of hiking and fishing and the sound of the rain on the roof...so relaxing. From the porch you can see and hear the river. So thankful to have found such a beautiful place.
We had family together to attend a graduation just ten miles away. It was so great to have the quiet, serene atmosphere and still be so close to town. The location of the cabin was amazing!
This was our 2nd time staying at this cabin and it was just as good as the 1st. The location is fantastic. The river is on 3 sides of the cabin. Walk out the door and start fishing. The town of Sparta is just a short distance away, so it is easy to run into town for supplies. Susan, the owner, is great to work with. We highly recommend this rental.
This was an awesome cabin. I love that it is located in the bend of the river..my dog and I walked by the river everyday. It was secluded but close to town. We are already planning another trip there.. We could not get the gas fireplace to light so Susan took time out of her Sat afternoon and came over helped us.. HIGHLY recommended!! We love the little town of Sparta
This cabin sits in the middle of a wooded park with the Little River right outside the door! It's the perfect place to get away from it all. Cabin is comfortable. We used it as our base to drive around the area and enjoy the beauty of nature. Blue Ridge parkway is nearby with attractions in both directions.
Susan is an ideal host and responsive to any problems. Hope to stay there again.
The cabin was as described. Very pretty property with a river running around the property. The cabin had an ample supply of towels and cooking utensils. Cabin was located close to downtown Sparta with a few restaurants, a grocery store, and shops.
If you are looking for a peaceful setting and love nature, this is the place for you. Not a lot of frills, just your basic comforts for sitting out by the fire and listening to the river. From inside you can still commune with nature and watch the trees and stars from the wonderful high windows. Would not be really good for six adults (not enough seating) but great for four. We hope to go back again and again!
Very pleasant and well stocked cabin in beautiful setting. Agent was very courteous and helpful. Had weather permitted we would have loved walking in the Little River. Hope to go back.
This review is a bit late as we stayed there in April. The location was fantastic. The cabin is remote without being remote. If you are looking for a cabin on the river, you can't find a better spot. The cabin is surrounded by the river on 3 sides. We caught brown, rainbow and brook trout. We definitely recommend this rental and look forward to renting it again. Susan is very helpful and a great host.
