This was our 5th year at this beautiful home. We appreciate the fully equipped kitchen, location to the Sponge Docks and Tarpon Avenue. We especially enjoyed hanging out on the porch. Lisa and John are very responsive and great hosts. Highly recommend!
The house was perfect for a girlfriend weekend, was very spacious and beautifully decorated, it exceeded our expectations !!! Would definitely return if in the area again
The cleanliness, Christmas decorations and charm. The master bed was very comfortable and the rooms were all very quaint. The location was ideal and the neighborhood was very quiet and friendly. Our son loved to fish off the dock and our daughters enjoyed all the shops! Only complaint is poor water pressure in shower and the tub is very small and drain opens when using it. Otherwise, fantastic home! Thank you!
My husband along with our grandchildren had a very enjoyable time staying in this beautiful home. The home is in walking distance to the sponge docks and great restaurants
Another great time in Beautiful home & perfect location
This was our 4th year in this beautiful home that’s close to everything: Sponge Docks, Spring Bayou, Bike trails,Tarpon Ave shops & restaurant. Hosts are very responsive and great communicators. This is our home away from home every March & we can’t wait to return!
John and I have painstakingly renovated this wonderful 100 year old house and have made sure everything has been done to impeccable standards. We took our time and made it a family adventure. There isn't one aspect of the property that hasn't been touched, upgraded or redesigned. There is a story behind every room and the decorating reflects our family's history. The reference to "Captain" has multiple meanings, John's Dad was a US Navy Captain, My Dad was an Airline Captain and the original owner of the house was a fishing Captain that allowed his crew to live upstairs, while he and his wife lived downstairs. All of our wonderful neighbors are of Greek heritage and most were born and raised in the house they still live in. They watched us bring this property back from years of neglect. John and I joke that we should've filmed a hit TV show, named "The Bickersons build a house". The end result is an amazing, comfortable home we are sure you'll want to come back to time and time again.
Why they chose this property
I am a licensed realtor in my "off" hours and had a client who was interested in flipping houses in the Tarpon Springs area because he knew the history and value of this remarkable area and would make any property a solid investment. I took my buyer to the house and he said " Wow, this is a really cool house, but there is just too much work to do here and it will take too long and cost a fortune to bring it back to life. " While he was saying that, I was falling in love with the house and wanted John to look at it. We instantly shared a vision. So we bought it and started the monumental task that became our dream and passion. 10 years later, we look back and know that we might've changed our minds many times and had many arguments between us that tested our love, but in the end, we both know the vision we had so many years ago has been greatly exceeded by the finished project. We both love smelling the nearby bakeries, walking through an art fair, doing a "wine walk", or taking our boat out into the Gulf. Someday, we will retire and call this our home base, but until then, we want to share it with people who will also fall in love with what we saw in the house, the neighborhood and the city. Enjoy! OPA!!!!!!
What makes this property unique
There are so many things to list as unique benefits, but one that most all of our guests will share are the outstanding selection of amazing restaurants all within walking distance, Our favorite is Rusty Bellies for seafood, and there are so many very authentic Greek restaurants to choose from along with brew pubs, tap houses and sports bars to fit anyone's tastes! Walking to everything will help you see all the sights and burn off some of the calories you'll be taking in!
