About this property

Historic 1888 3 bath 4 bedroom 11ppl. Farmhouse w/great views 15 min. from Midd

Tastefully restored and maintained property central to all of Vermont on quaint dirt road, with alpacas in pastures, chickens and ducks to feed. Furnished with antiques and full compliment of kitchen and laundry appliances and equipment, outdoor grill. Incredible Views into the Adirondack mountains, and across slate roof from 3 story deck. Only 15 min to Middlebury College ( you can spend that much time crossing town), nearby country stores and Lake Champlain bridge to heart of Adk's for side trips. Maybe even try some just laid, home raised eggs!

Cross country ski or snow shoe right out of backyard, pond available for swimming or skating in season. Road bike or Mountain bike right out of driveway into dirt lanes and challenge class 4 road less than a mile away.

If you want to hike or hit the big 5 ski slopes of the east in under an hour and a half, this is the place, central to Whiteface, Killington, Stowe, Okemo, Sugarbush- --ski a different area a each day and come home to cozy and warm fair and fireplace. Bring your own, or rent snowmobiles and enjoy an exciting day in the trail.

Simply relax in the solitude with the plethora of books and good movies. Historic farmhouse- with jacuzzi tub in the Top floor master suite for Mom and Dad, and a tub on the 2nd floor for the kids. If you are and extreme "Mudder" competitor you can slip thru the basement and right in to the shower in the first floor laundry.

We could go on and on, but it's a great place, with remaining historic touches, and a great way to save money and enjoy friend and family time. We might even include a tour of the Alpaca Ranch and open our alpaca shop next door, if you ask.

Whether a long winter weekend or week long respite or adventure in the summer, The Fiddler's House on Fiddler's Lane is a living piece of history you dont want to miss.

About the host

Hosted by Les and Jenny Foshay

Host profile image
We have been hosting guests for over 30 years now, and try our hardest to be sure you have the best time. It's an 150 year old farmhouse on an old dirt road, and things can come up. If you need something, don't hesitate to ask, and if it's with reason we'll do our level best to help, whether it's some item you need or a local "best' question. Jenny spends a whole day after each guest c leaning and personally cleans and will do a last minute walk thru to be sure we haven't missed a lady bug or a speck or dirt.

Why they chose this property

Very accessible to town and Pratt's Award winning Country Store by modern car and conveniences, but a genuine rural setting, surrounded by hundreds of acres of pastures and woods, you may even have a tractor drive by the house.

What makes this property unique

Historic... Historic... Historic...It is The Fiddlers House on Fiddlers' Lane, and did we say fully appointed with modern kitchen equipment for a chef and full laundry for the active family. WIFI. The adjoining caretaker apt (Separate unit, entries, utilities and driveway, yard so you have your privacy...) was probably the original house facing south and is built on log or stump piers, stone foundation and still has a well or "cistern" dating into the late 1700's.
