* CLOUDS MOUNTAIN CABIN* Relaxing, Escape, Views & Private Hot Tub! STUNNING panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley from a large deck, with hot tub AND wood fireplace. All of the amenities. Privacy. PLUS hiking in the Shenandoah National Park is literally steps from the back door. A waterfall with natural pools is less than a 15 minute hike from the house! Wildlife is commonly seen. And at an elevation of 2,000 feet, even summer is comfortable. Skyline Drive and Luray caverns are close by, and Washington DC is only 90 miles away. Also nearby is the Shendandoah River - one of the most beautiful aspects of the area. Lots of opportunity for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and floating the river. Luray is less than 10 miles away and Front Royal is also nearby, so restaurants, quaint shopping and wineries are all nearby. This is a must see experience! You'll have the entire place to yourself! Other things to note: ROAD AND VEHICLE: While the cabin is accessible for a normal car, we HIGHLY recommend a higher clearance vehicle like an SUV. Subaru's and RAV4's are common, but many other vehicles are also on the mountain. We offer an SUV (free of charge) to guests who prefer to use it for the final mile to the cabin.

We had a very quiet nice stay it was nice to have the woods where we could walk the dogs. The drive up was a little difficult even with four wheel drive but definitely worth the view

Hi Jessica! I'm glad you had a great time. You came after 2 back-to-back storms that were highly unusual and they dumped so much rain that it damaged the road. While the road was still driveable, it was challenging, as you noted. We have since added many truckloads of gravel and re-graded the road to restore it. It's still not fun (certainly not a paved road), but it completely and easily driveable now in any AWD or 4WD vehicle. Thanks for coming!
My husband and I loved clouds cabin. It was even more beautiful in person than it was in the pictures. The views from the deck are amazing, and it’s very quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. The waterfall hike is not on a public trail, so you even have that all to yourself. The cabin was spotlessly clean, and I had to do some schoolwork while we were there but the internet connection was great. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while looking up at the stars and surrounded by forest. I’m attaching some pictures, because it’s hard to describe just how beautiful the views are. We were already talking about coming back on our first night there
We visited over the 4th of July holiday. We are busy in our careers and just wanted to get away and slow down and have some quality family time with our 6 year old son. As we approached the cabin, we got peeks of the breathtaking views. Once we got into the cabin, we took some deep breaths and just started to feel the stress fade away. The next few days were spent hiking to the waterfall, spotting bugs and wildlife in the woods, relaxing in the hot tub, playing games and putting together puzzles, and cooking some fun meals and desserts. It was a special time and it was a great place where our son could just be a curious kid. If you are looking for an opportunity to recharge, slow down, and renew bonds, this is the perfect place.
Our stay was great! The cabin was clean and ready for us when we got there and it was nice and secluded! The driveway is an adventure, but there are jeeps provided if you need them. Overall great experience, would recommend.
What an unbelievable view! After making it up the road in the dark, we awoke to an amazing view of the valley below. The house was clean, and Brian's instructions meant we knew how to fully utilize the features such as the hot tub. We drove up in a front-wheel-drive Ford Escape and had no issues with accessing the property. We stayed from Monday to Friday for our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier with the property and the seclusion it provided. Hoping to visit again in the future.
What an amazing get away!! Noone around and very quiet!! Beautiful scenery!! Just what we needed for our honeymoon!

Beautiful views
The view from the deck is truly amazing - I can see why they call it Clouds Cabin! Overall we had a nice stay. The owner was one of the most helpful and responsive hosts of all time, he was truly great. He provided super clear instructions on how to get there and we had no problems finding it even without a working GPS. I'd definitely recommend bringing all the provisions you need with you, because making it down that road to pick up something you forgot is not an easy task. The four wheel drive vehicles provided were necessary to make it up the hill for us, we never would have made it in our own car. We used the grill non-stop and didn't have any issues with it.
There were a few areas that I'd recommend as possible areas of improvement, or just things to be aware of:
1. There was only one hand soap in the bathroom, and none in the kitchen. Given that we are in a pandemic, I would have felt much better if more hand soap was readily available and disinfectant wipes were provided. The guest book revealed that someone else had checked out just hours before we checked in. I'm sure the place had been cleaned by a crew before our arrival (although we found someone else's contact lens case on the ground), but it would have given me more peace of mind and shown me that safety precautions were being taken very seriously.
2. The hot tub area was super overgrown with foliage, and not as pictured in the photo. Someone else mentioned this in their review too, and the owner mentioned that it tends to get overgrown quickly in summer (which makes sense). However, we were really looking forward to using this feature and just ended up not really taking advantage as much because it was a little uncomfortable given that it literally backed up into the woods and the bug situation over there was really intense.
3. There are two neighbors immediately to the left and right of you. The location is great because it's smack dab in the middle of Shenandoah, but we weren't totally expecting to have neighbors so close. In positive news, the deck is still very private because of all the trees, which is great - but the neighbors had some people over one day and we could definitely hear them all hanging out all day even if we couldn't clearly see them.
4. The upstairs bedrooms had a musty/moldy smell and aggravated both of our allergies, but it was nothing a little Febreeze (which was provided by the host) couldn't fix.

Thanks Alicia - I appreciate the feedback. A few notes. First, you are absolutely right about the dish soap in the kitchen. There should be some there and I am sorry that there was not. However, the place WAS thoroughly cleaned before you arrived. The previous guest had a special circumstance and they asked for a later check out - something we are rarely able to approve. But we were able to double up the cleaning personnel and ensure we could get it done in time for you. The placement of the hot tub is simply for privacy. If we put it in a more open space, there would be challenges (and complaints from guests) about it being exposed. We do try to keep the vegetation trimmed back to open up the view, but it does grow rapidly in the summer. Finally, as to the neighbors, we worked really hard to ensure that no other cabin is visible from your cabin. However, we don’t own the whole mountain. There are other homes including vacation rentals on the mountain. Thanks again for your feedback.
Rented Clouds cabin with 3 friends for 4 days in August. We hiked all around Shenandoah and the cabin was super convenient. We did have issues going up the hill when raining - but the property manager was there shortly to help iron things out and get us settled. The owners also provide 4-wheel drive vehicles for people to use, which we found super convenient. The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains & Shenandoah were breathtaking from the deck of the cabin - it was great to stare at while grilling, eating, and having some beers with the mates. I would definitely recommend this cabin and would gladly stay again.
We had a wonderful time. The get away was exactly what we needed. I am very glad we stopped at the grocery store BEFORE getting up that last mile to the cabin lol it was exactly what we were looking for and the accommodations were exactly what we expected them to be. Thank you!
The cabin was clean and well furnished with all that anyone could need for an escape into the mountains. Communication with the property owner was flawless and clear directions about how to get to the property as well as what items you will need to bring are well stated. This was the couple of days relaxation we needed.
The view from the deck and the bedroom balcony were spectacular. I loved catching sunset.
The hot tub was a nice touch. I loved being able to use it after a long day of hiking in the Shenandoah National Park. I will definitely be back!
Ps- plastic cups would be nice for the hot tub🙃
While the communication and check-in processes were smooth, the pictures were a bit misleading. For example, the main picture implies that the hot tub offers a view of the mountains, but this pic may be several years old as the trees by the deck are overgrown and you don't see anything. Additionally, the rooms were much smaller than the pics indicated. Grill didn't work and after the property manager fixed it, he told the owner nothing was wrong and we didn't know how to turn it on.

The hot tub DOES offer a view, but I can see that the vegetation has begun to obstruct it. I try to find the right balance between privacy and view. If you cut the vegetation too far, the hot tub is no longer completely private. In this case, I think I let the greenery get a little too tall. I apologize. I'll be cutting that back in the next few days to ensure a view from the hot tub. (This is only ever an issue in July and August)
The grill DID work! One one burners was broken but the other burner worked perfectly. This guest insisted the grill wouldn't light at all. We went up there when he called and it started right up. I even offered to pay for all his food. We have now installed a new burner on this grill and another, newer grill will be delivered and setup on Sunday. So there will be a primary grill and a backup grill on site from that point forward, along with a backup propane tank.
As to the pictures, I have not altered or doctored them in any way. The listing says that the house is 900 sq ft, so I'm not sure what this guest was expecting. The bedrooms are small but completely adequate, with a private balcony from the master bedroom. Both bedrooms have a bed (one king and one queen), a TV with Roku, a dresser, lighting and a ceiling fan. I'm not sure what this guest wanted.
My closing comment here is that while some of the issues this guest listed are legitimate, he was among the most challenging and demanding guests I've ever had.
Amazing views, great amenities. Will be back, for sure!
