Merci encore !
Our host was wonderful and the location is perfect for sightseeing . It is our second visit and we would go back. The apartment is huge and well stocked !
This apartment is everything you could wish for and more! Walkable location with a safe, secure spot to park your small car. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming. A special culinary treat was awaiting us. The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is beautiful. Senhora Maria and her son, Diogo, went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. Thank you for being such gracious hosts!
Spacious, tidy apartment with full living room, kitchen and bath and terrace for warmer weather. Sadly, though, landlord controls heat and seemed content with providing 9 hours' worth daily. After 4 days of wrangling he finally boosted it - to 11 hours! If heat is that precious a commodity, adjust your prices. Or don't rent it out. But don't be a cheapskate.
Also, heavy construction in next building (they share walls). Around 8 AM M-F jackhammers, power equipment fires up. Most unpleasant.
I'd stay here again. But only after the remodeling moves to another sector. And only after getting ironclad guarantee from landlord (otherwise a very decent guy) he'll provide heat on your terms, not his.
Note: Sometimes happens in Portugal that there is no central heat in a property. They just use space heaters or bundle up.
Decorated with beautiful furniture pieces- you’ll feel at home when you arrive- especially with the warm hospitality of the owners Diogo and Maria. Diogo greeted us with a bottle of wine and special Portuguese treats when we arrived!
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and we were able to make use of the washing machine too- there is a nice patio in the back where you can enjoy coffee or meals - and hang your clothes to dry. The area is hilly, but for those who are younger with strong legs :-) there is alot that is close by including metro and bus- as well as Avenida de Liberdade- famed for it’s exclusive shops, restaurants, and cafes. There is also a market downstairs with friendly shop keepers with just about anything you would need- the mangos were particularly good there! And El Corte Ingles is close by with everything you can imagine with 8 floors of high end shopping- and a grocery store too-and entrance to the metro… the top floor is filled with restaurants and the view from there of the Lisbon skyline is amazing - I broke my leg a couple of months prior to traveling so we did less walking and mainly used the Phone App for Bolt taxi service (like Uber) for transportation, which is very easy and affordable and will usually pick you up in about 5 minutes in front of the building and most trips are under $5.00 depending on the time of day. For me the bed was hard and not comfortable, but acceptable when I added some blankets under the sheets for extra cushion- and there is also a pull out sofa bed in the living room. Also there is construction going on in the area which is true in much of Lisbon- but it didn’t really bother us as we were usually out during the daytime touring Lisbon. Thank you Maria and Diogo for being excellent hosts - we had a very nice stay!
Accommodated early check-in! Diago very welcoming. Lovely gift of local wine, cheese, jam and fruit . Easy access to transportation or walkable! Spotlessly clean. Very handy mini mart next door.
Bed is a bit small and very firm. Construction on building adjacent from 830-6ish, but not on the weekend thankfully. If you rise early and plan on being out all day, not a problem. Patio was nice to have.
Two of us stayed in this apartment. It is large with a private outside space where we ate most of our at-home meals. (There are also two places for eating inside.) The apartment is beautifully furnished. The bed, however, is a double not a queen. We found this place to be welcoming, clean and generously stocked with linens and basic necessities.
It is located within walking distance of many restaurants and pastelarias. We wished we had discovered the Corte Inglés earlier during our visit because it offered good shopping and delicious indulgences.
Thanks to Maria and her family for this nice place in Lisbon and for their helpful answers to our texts when needed.
The host was so welcoming , after long flights it is very appreciated .They had wine , cheese and Portuguese treats waiting. The condo is large , well stocked and has all needed amenities. Thank you from the Canadians!
The best place to stay when you visit Lisbon Portugal
We've stayed in other Vrbo offered properties but this one was the best. It was perfectly located near the center of everything around Lisbon, within walking distance to the Metro station, taxis passing by every couple minutes you can easily hail. A convenience store (Mercado) right next door to the apartment and what a beautifully furnished and well equipped apartment it was. The host met us upon our arrival and explained operation of everything including the clothes washer. Any other questions we had throughout our two week stay was answered promptly via email. In the event we are fortunate enough in the future to vacation in Lisbon again I hope we are able to to stay in this same apartment

Excellent experience with the owner, a beautiful apartment. but a couple of things to improve.
A very beautiful apartment that is filled with antiques and is quite large. The location is not near many of the Lisbon attractions but is very close to the subway/metro so you can get pretty much anywhere.
A couple of things to note that we found to be disappointing:
1) The bed is a small twin sized bed (that is incredibly creaky), so it was a bit too short for us to fit comfortably, and we're not that tall at 1.9m (5'9"), plus since it was so noisy every movement woke each other up.
2) There is only a hand held shower that has the holder installed at chest height. We both love a nice shower in the morning so this was a disappointment (still ok though).
3) The garage is unbelievably tight, you better have a tiny car or you're in trouble. My husband is a great driver and was able to manage all the corners with multiple adjustments, but wow it's scary.
We feel bad posting this as the owner was incredibly nice to deal with, but feel it's important to let people know. Hopefully they will address the first two issues as otherwise we'd give it 4 stars, with only the location being a small negative as it's not close to the attractions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the House of Leonor for 10 days in November 2019, so we were delighted to find that it was available during our recent month-long return trip to Lisboa. The apartment is spacious, beautifully furnished with vintage furniture, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. Diogo met us when we arrived and welcomed us to an exceptionally clean apartment with a bottle of excellent Douro wine, a jar of his family’s honey, and delicious Portuguese treats. Over the next month Diogo checked with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen is fully equipped, which allowed us to prepare our own meals when we chose to do so, and the internet connection is fast and reliable.
The location was excellent for us to explore Lisboa. It’s a short 10-minute walk to the Marques de Pombol metro station. Good restaurants and groceries stores are nearby, as is the beautiful Parque Eduardo VII which looks down the elegant Avenida de Liberdade. The small mercado beside the entrance to the apartment building was able to supply us with lots of basics.
Muito obrigado, Maria and Diogo. We highly recommend your lovely apartment!
Everything was perfect, Diogo was very
welcoming and helpful. Looking forward to a return some day. Cafe and store next door priced just right and friendly. Taberna do conde wine and tapas across the street is a must.
A fantastic place - the welcome, the refined furniture, the full kitchen, the lovely terrace, the neighbourhood - all fantastic!!! Plus, Diogo promises to be close at hand.
Esta muy bien situado y además tiene plaza de garaje, que es un lujo en el centro de Lisboa. Como inconveniente que solo tiene una habitación y lo otro es un sofá cama, pero muy amplio.
