We enjoyed staying in this house surrounded by snowy woods. It felt very private. The sauna and hot tub were a lovely bonus. The ski-in ski-out was much appreciated. 4-wheel drive is a must if snow is expected.

We enjoyed having Nancy and her husband in our home. They were respectful of the house rules and I think they enjoyed the bounty of snow their week offered. We welcome them returning again.
Wonderful property, great hot tub kids enjoyed, well stocked kitchen and beautiful views. Would return. Easy communication with host.

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Check-in, communication
The house itself was great. Good location, kitchen well stocked, nice amenities. The couch was uncomfortable and clearly a known issue given the towels stuffed into the gaps and you can only fit maybe 5 around the TV. We found an undisclosed camera taped inside a bedroom window! It was facing out but capable of audio which was very disturbing inside a private sleeping area.Biggest flaw was the host experience which was quite invasive and unprofessional, questioning our family dynamic, calling us “fishy” for asking for check-in details, changing rules last-minute (restricting us to 2 cars despite no such rule in the listing). We have been renting ski in/out for many years and never encountered anything like this. It caused extreme stress and fear they would cancel our reservation booked many months in advance. Wouldn’t stay again because of it.

Wow. We had completely different views. I called it fishy because you clearly didn’t want anyone to check you in. Did you have something to hide? Turns out you were looking for an early check in and were too afraid to ask for it? I always accommodate when able. That simple. It clearly states that car max is two cars. Normaly ample for 8 people. I do have a safety camera to see who enters driveway. I didn’t know there was audio. Never used it. But will note in guest info. Thank you. This was a Martin Luther King booking in mid January. They used up most of the wood for the season. I’m shocked. It never even snowed. I also will add to the guest book, be mindful of how much wood you use. About the couch, no one has ever said this and I will take stock. You want me to have a couch that seats 8 so you can watch tv? Hmmm. Finally, I have no idea about the undue stress I caused in the months prior to the booking. Why would I cancel your booking? I don’t even think about you until the week prior to your arrival when I contact you for arrival info. That makes clearly no sense. Anyway. Bad fit for both of us.

Great vacation home
We had an excellent time with our family and two other couples. The property is exactly as described and we definitely plan to go back. Because it is at the end of the canyon and Brighton does not have a large "village", be prepared to stay around the house, cook, ski, relax, etc. In fact, I'd rather be socked in there than dining out in a more touristy spot. The view and access to the slopes were probably our favorite parts but nothing else really disappointed. Nice kitchen, hot-tub, plenty of fire-wood, etc. Finally, the owners were very helpful and friendly with our many questions. Can't wait to go back.

House is in good shape and everything is in working order. Nothing to complain about. Snow removal was prompt and ample firewood was provided. Plenty of cookware, utensils, silverware, and dishes in the kitchen. Once you arrive, there is nothing to worry about because all needs are anticipated and house is well organized. Great view from the hot tub!

Nice property overall, but the listing was misleading
The property was overall clean, well located, and the owner was easy to communicate with. However, the house was very cold a majority of the time, and the way the listing was advertised was misleading. The listing states there were more beds than there actually were and there was no foosball table. The owner did communicate with me after the booking that there were less beds than advertised, but they really shouldn’t market the property with more beds than there are. The property was conveniently located close to Brighton Ski Resort, which was great! The hot tub and sauna was also quite nice and the kitchen was well stocked with lots of things to cook with. I’d recommend this property if you’re looking to ski at Brighton or Solitude, but I would highly recommend to the owner that they should update the listing to better accurately list how many beds and amenities there are.

Reviewer Comments:
Property description was accurate, place was clean and beautiful, management responded to texts. I would absolutely recommend, and is in fact one of the few places I would like to go back. The property is just off of the ski trails for Brighton Resort, a nice mid-sized resort. Despite being so close, it feels nicely isolated. There is a front entrance to the garage which has an actual old mineshaft that you walk up (stairs) to get to the house. It's really neat. Property is spacious, two families stayed, but it could have easily been 3 with a great space downstairs for the kids with foosball table. The living room is great for apres ski to look out at the snow and trees and enjoy the fire. My only recommendation is to put a pocket door between the master bed and master bath.

I am glad to hear you had a good stay! Come again. Carole
An ideal spot for our group of 3 couples for the week. Access to skiing was great. We enjoyed all the amenities- hot tub, sauna, etc. Owner Adrienne was very helpful and organized.
My first time here, but several members of our party had stayed here before. It did not disappoint and lived up to the hype. I can't wait to come back and do it again some day!
This mountain home nestled in the snow covered cedars was a white Christmas dream for our Alabama family. Adrienne was extremely attentive and communicated whenever necessary. All the beds were very comfortable with high end bedding. Her kitchen had a fabulous Viking stove and all the baking, cooking, and grilling utensils anyone would need. Her kitchen was WELL stocked with spices, oils, vinegars, coffee, and baking items such as powder and soda. Our family of seven cooked in two meals a day. Since we are novice skiers, we didn't attempt the ski in/out but easily walked to the slopes in our boots. The Brighton ski rentals were easy and accommodating. We used Harmon's grocery in Midvale because they deliver. However, if the weather is too bad, you may need to make another plan. The views from the windows allow beauty from all sides. Her TV was set to have all the channels, and we enjoyed music with Alexa. The master bath has heated floors and the sauna and hot tub were added bonuses. Adrienne communicated often in regard snow removal. If this cabin was closer, we'd rent it often. Enjoy in 2022!

We truly enjoyed staying at Adrienne's house in Brighton. The house was clean and comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and the location is great if you are skiing at Brighton. The house is set back up the hill and off the street, so it feels very secluded. The house has two accesses by car, in the back allowing for easy ingress/egress and a garage on the street with a covered walkway up to the house. During our stay there was a large snow storm, so it was great to be abler to park in the garage and have direct access to the main road, otherwise we would have been snowed in. Adrienne was very responsive and helpful when we had questions. We would stay again next time we ski at Brighton.

Our overall stay at Chez Louisa was wonderful! Our party consisted of six adults and we didn't even use the downstairs area. The house was well stocked, clean and well-maintained. The ski in/ski out access was absolutely a killer even for beginner skiers! The view from the main floor living area and the hot tub was spectacular! We always love going to Molly Greens for after ski activities and the breakfast sandwiches at Milly's can't be beat. The best asset and the biggest drawback to the property is the setting. We did not realize that the house served as the public ski access for the neighborhood and we had foot traffic within a foot of the windows of the master bedroom and both main level bathrooms. Needless to say we kept the blinds shut in all those rooms. We even had someone park in our driveway overnight and into the next day! Given this intrusion the secluded setting was not quite as magical. A simple approach may be to have cones with a rope and sign that state no public access.

The cabin itself is perfect for our annual snowboarding trip. Great location, room for all of us, nice kitchen to cook our own meals, hot tub to chill in after a day on the slopes, and easy ski-in/ski-out. This house was a great layout and had amazing privacy for the proximity to the ski runs. The first day we wrestled with the 3 and 4 year olds in the group to get them to the ski run and found it was easier to walk to the lift from the garage below. The option to ski back in was great though, and the adults traded off watching the kids at the cabin later in the day and took advantage of the ski-in-ski-out onto the blue run. The house was clean, comfortable, and we would love to come back next year!

We enjoyed our stay here, and especially liked that the kitchen was well equipped. A few tips for others considering staying: - you have to be organized and plan/buy all food you need before travelling up to the canyon! One tiny store with nothing much available. You can pre-order food online at the large Smiths supermarket and pick it up on your way through. - Was not really ski in and out when we were there as not enough snow coverage. - Don't make our mistake and attempt the driveway in a car without really good snow tires. It took an hour and a half to get out with significant digging and pushing and no help from the management. This really colored our feeling about the stay. It hadn't snowed so we were kind of surprised to be in that predicament. No salt, sand or help nearby. Instead park down on the main road and take the stairs in the covered walkway (known as the "mineshaft") - Watch out for inexperienced snowboaders on the slopes. Three of our party knocked over for no good reason... - There is a good local bus service that can take out in and out of SLC for $4.50 each way. - Enjoy the hot tub - its great!

Thanks for staying with us! I apologize for the trouble getting up the back drive. There seems to be a recurring problem with poor rental car tires and people spinning on the ice or snow at the top of the driveway. This is why it is essential to have AWD and always check to make sure you have dedicated snow tires as mentioned in the emails and information document sent out before your arrival. My company does not have a tow truck or anyway to help. After careful thought on how to help guests more in future when parking behind the house, Mount Majestic has purchased a set of car chains that will be kept at the house for use when people find themselves in this situation. There is of coarse always the option to park below in the garage right off the main road. Carole

About the host
Hosted by Adrienne Aldous
My grandfather built this house, and I learned to ski on this hill. I enjoy seeing happy people who appreciate the magic of this area.
Why they chose this property
I love the pristine environment Brighton village affords. It has very little commercialization in our area. Property is located on 1.5 acres and is adjacent to the ski resort. While it is no longer groomed to the deck you can easily ski 100 yards to the bottom of Great Weatern Lift and return from ski run. You will fall in love with it!
What makes this property unique
It feels like you are in a tree house while sitting in living room. There are breathtaking views of mount Millicent and the ski hill. There is privacy perched above the main road.
