Riverfront - Happy Peach on the Shenandoah

Come relax and enjoy at The Happy Peach! Nestled at the base of the Massanutten Mountains on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River (100 feet of frontage), this cozy house is the perfect base for adventures or a restful getaway. Fishing, hiking, rafting, antique shopping, wine tasting, exploring caverns or visiting historic sites are just some of the possibilities. Our 2-bedroom house is an ideal getaway for a small group or family and is only 90 miles from DC and 15 miles away from the North entrance of Shenandoah National Park.

The house is on a wooded lot near the end of a quiet road. A large screened porch faces the river and is great for dining, board games or simply relaxing and listening to the sounds of nature. The porch has lighting as well as ceiling fans to keep things cool. There is additional outdoor seating on the deck and a fire pit just down the back steps. The area is home to abundant wildlife and small creatures including deer, river otter, ground hogs, a variety of birds, bear as well as many insects and reptiles so prepare to convene with nature!

For entertainment, there's a variety of options: books, puzzles, games, movies (DVD) and music.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes and utensils as well as some basic spices.
Bedroom linens and bathroom towels are provided for each guest.
Air conditioning is available and most rooms have a ceiling fan for additional / alternate cooling.

The peaceful and friendly town of Strasburg is just 10 minutes away and offers a number of delicious dining options including a variety of restaurants, a bakery, ice cream shop and a couple of breweries. Take a tour of the town and enjoy all the murals painted by professional artists. At just 15 miles away, Front Royal is your gateway to Shenandoah National Park and the famous Skyline Drive … explore the visitors center, get out for a hike or jump into a rafting adventure! There are wineries, caverns, a covered bridge, museums, battlefields and many quaint towns in the Shenandoah Valley beckoning to you … try not to fall in love!

Relaxing Stay

Excellent stay

Excellent place to stay, peaceful, quiet, can easily relax here. Still was able to drive to do some sightseeing. This has been one of our favorite places to stay. Hopefully we can come back some day. Highly recommend staying here.

Superb getaway

Relaxing weekend at the happy peach

We had a great time at this property! Nice and quiet, secluded enough to feel disconnected to the world but close enough to Town to get almost anything you needed. We enjoyed the river and the firepir here, and the wildlife that paid us visits.

Excellent getaway!

We had a great time at the Happy Peach! House was fantastic and river access was amazing for tubing and wading. We highly recommend Happy Peach for anyone looking for a nice relaxing getaway with close proximity to shops and restaurants.

WONDERFUL PLACE

Nice clean place that has a great location and really everything that you need. Kids loved fishing and tubing and we had a nice relaxing get away. Definitely recommend.

Anniversary trip

River Recharge

We booked the Happy Peach for a relaxing weekend getaway for our family of 4. We had a rainy few days, but enjoyed every minute of our stay. The property is amazing and Callie was a wonderful host. A great spot to stay put and unwind, but also a short drive to hiking, dining, and shopping.

Quiet winter weekend

Booked a last minute 2 night stay and was not disappointed! Perfect house for our needs and amazing location right on the river! It was so nice to stay in and play games and just enjoy the fire and the quietness. Would love to return in the summer and take advantage of the easy river access!

Beautiful house and grounds, comfortable, cozy, well equipped, impeccable. Near many attractions but this is one of the rare times we just decided to stay on site, it was so inviting. Callie, the host, was attentive and accomodating.

Relaxing home away from home

Our family really enjoyed being here. The house had all the features we loved and more. We especially enjoyed sitting by the river and the screened in porch I’m the evenings. The house was very spacious yet cozy. Like home away from home. I especially want to say our host was so attentive and easy to contact if needed. We look forward to going back again.

Little Oasis

The Happy Peach is perfect for a getaway. It’s spacious and warmly decorated, welcoming everyone to spread out and relax. The view of the river and the feeling of seclusion yet just 10 minutes outside of town is unmatched. We enjoyed a day downtown visiting the brewery and antique shops, of which there are plenty. We also enjoyed a day watching the snow fall and cooking, reading, and just relaxing. It’s a perfect location and perfect place to find a little peace and time to connect with your partner/yourself/nature.

Amazingly peaceful spot on the river

Really cute cabin, very well equipped! Perfect outdoor screened porch for meals overlooking the river. Easy access to put in/take out kayaks and tubes for scenic float trips. We loved the location so close (but feeling remote from) Strasburg with lots of shops and restaurants. Caretaker was super responsive. Wonderful stay!

We loved our escape to the Happy Peach

We are repeat guests and we keep coming back for the excellent service, charming home with all the necessary comforts, and location. It’s a fantastic escape from the hustle and bustle. Callie is an excellent host and the process from booking until check out is easy and clear. Make sure you read through the binder that they leave out for you. It’s got lots of great info on local restaurants and activities!

Relaxing escape
