About this property
Riverfront, pet friendly ! Log cabin with 2 bedrooms and loft!
Smile Inn Over the River is a cozy, relaxing cabin where you can really get away from all the stress of daily living! Enjoy with your family and friends while grilling on the back deck overlooking the Shenandoah river! Roast marshmallows at the fire pit next in the evening next to the river. Smile as your heart warms watching your kids and dogs running, playing, having the time of their life on the huge wide open field along the river! Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, New Market Battlefield, and wineries are all a short drive away! Make memories to take home and keep forever!
We are a very pet friendly cabin because pest are an important part of your family and should be on vacation with you, we take our dogs on vacation with us, why not you? There is an enclosed dog run right next to the deck for those times that you do not want them running free. ($30 pet fee)
There are no hidden fees in our price, everything included. There are no fees for linens, firewood, cleaning, or charges for extra people. We supply all paper products, and the kitchen is stocked for your gourmet cooking. We try to supply all the staples and spices that you may need in preparing meals.
Smile Inn sits on 3 acres, bordered by woods and fields on 3 sides, and boasts 400 feet or river frontage in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The cabin sits near the end of a gravel road in an area we call cabin alley. The nice thing about the location is it is beyond traffic, noise (except for geese), and dust of vehicles travelling on the road. The road you travel is a country road through forest and along the river, 5.8 miles on the gravel road, and is about 17.5 miles from downtown Luray. It takes 30 minutes to travel to town so get your food before you travel to the cabin, but you are in easy reach of enjoying everything Luray (dining and movies) and the Shenandoah Valley has to offer....or just remain at the cabin and relax in the hammock near the river.
The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably, with 2 bedrooms and a loft. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, upstairs bedrooms has 2 double beds and a half bath, and the loft outside the upstairs bedroom has a futon. The downstairs bathroom is divided into 2 separate rooms next to each other, one includes the toilet and vanity, the other a walk in shower and whirlpool bath. (user friendly) The kitchen has updated appliances and includes a microwave, toaster, blender, and combo coffeemaker. The dining area seats 6, and leads out to the screened in porch with another table to dine. There is an open deck beside the screened in porch that also has a table and a gas grill. The living room has a sofa with 2 reclining sides, a separate recliner situated around the gas fireplace. The front porch has a swing and other seating.
Down by the river we have a fire pit and firewood, a picnic table and a hammock. There is a set of stairs down the hill to make access to the lower field easier. There is a canoe and other flotation devices that you may use, but they are use at your own risk.
All the amenities of home are provided including cable TV, WiFi, a DVD player, and phone service.
The area below the cabin that borders the river is perfect if you are planning a small event or family gathering. There is plenty of room to set up tents if you or your kids want to have the full camping experience beside the river. There is an access road that runs along the bottom of the hill below the cabin. To get on that road, travel beyond the cabin 1/4 mile and turn right at the gate, stay on the right hand road until you reach the bottom field. You can use this to bring supplies to the bottom field if you wish.
Again, the drive to town is about 30 minutes on a country road, so make sure you stock up on groceries before you travel to the cabin.
The historic town of Luray, Luray Caverns, Lake Arrowhead, and Jellystone Park are located about the same 30 minute drive. Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are about a 45 minute drive, Wisteria Vineyard and New Market Battlefield will take about an hour of travel. The cabin is located at the base of Massanutten Mountain and borders the George Washington National Forest. There are many hiking trails nearby including the Habron Gap, and Indian Grave Ridge trail. There are multiple trails located along the Massanutten and the Shenandoah National Park.

We had a fantastic time here. Andy was super communicative and the house was really well stocked for our getaway. The property was fantastic for our dogs to run around and play while we hung out by the river. We cannot say enough good things about Andy and his property. We’ll certainly be back when the weather warms up!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cozy cabin. Plenty of towels, linens, etc. The best stocked kitchen I have seen, yet. And what a view of the river. Our only issue (and it could have been us not understanding) was we couldn't figure out how to use the jacuzzi as the buttons didn't seem to turn it on and we didn't see any directions. Other than that, it was like a home away from home. Oh-and we loved that is was so pet friendly and the dogs had a lovely dog fun.
The host was phenomenal. Great communication and wonderful directions. Everything we used was in working order! Extremely peaceful stay. Stars galore, and little to no traffic. Living in NCR, we hear cars and horns all the time. It was amazing to spend time away from the hustle and bustle, and reconnect with nature’s serenity. Recommend this location for anyone needing a peaceful place to relax, disconnect, and recharge.
The cabin was very comfortable and spacious, even nicer than the photos. It had everything we needed in the kitchen. It was wonderful for our dog. She loved the huge yard area to sniff around. We especially loved the deck and that the dog run was right off it, which made it very convenient to let her out.Andy was a great host, responded to communications, and provided clear directions to the cabin. Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful cabin!
Such a wonderful place! Definitely pet friendly and quaint. It was very relaxing. Lots of fun games and even puzzles too. Kitchen was well equipped. We actually got to meet the owner and he was delightful. Communication on point from the moment I rented until the end. We would highly recommend.

This was our second time staying here and once again it did not disappoint! The cabin was clean and well stocked, the fishing was great and the dogs loved the deck and fenced dog area. There is no better place to get away from it all and relax!!! Can't wait to come back again!
The cabin was really nice. It was clean, and the stairs leading down to the riverbank area was really nice to with a fire pit and small deck on the riverbank. Will definitely rent this cabin again. Andy the host answered back in a timely manner. Thank you for letting us stay Andy!
We love staying here. This was our fourth stay. They have almost everything you need. The owner is always very responsive. Thank you for yet another memorable family vacation.
The cabin was perfect for our purpose. It was quiet and peaceful, pet friendly, with front porch, and screened in porch overlooking the river. Walks, watching the deer at dusk, relaxing and reading. Perfect. Big kitchen with everything we needed including spices, oil, and a good coffee maker. Thanks, Andy.

This cabin is beautiful with everything you need. It is very dog friendly which is wonderful since they are a part of the family. It was clean and has special touch to things, example of how they have the towels made up. The screened in porch was lovely and the patio was very nice with stairs leading down to the doggie run.I could go on and on !!! Want to come back next year.

We had a wonderful time over the 4th of July! The house was perfect and the amenities are fantastic. We also love bringing our golden retrievers, since they love running on the property and enjoy being in the river. We stayed in May as well and this stay was just as great!
The view was amazing honestly would love to stay here again.
