The weather was perfect. We were here for 9 weeks. House is quiet, pool is perfect, weather was spectacular. We were visited by humming birds, toucans, parrots, howler monkeys and coati’s.The drive does require a 4x4…. Typical Costa Rican mountain road.Host and concierge were excellent and responded to any inquiries we had. 5* all the way
The house was beautiful but too high in the mountains. The road was a nightmare and we are used to bad roads. We had rain everyday and it was too cold to use the pool. When we drove down into Ojochal or Uvita it was hot and sunny but when we got back to the house it was raining. We were booked for 4 weeks but left after spending 2 .It was a terrible waste of money .We had lived in Ojochal for 10 yrs previously so had gone on this trip to say goodbye to all of our friends.Very disappointed.

Dear Randy and Luba.
Reading your review was shocking to us as every group we have hosted, commented how magical their experience has been, connecting with nature and fresh air; our repeat guests love the peace this property brings them and come year after year.
It is hard for us to find a “would not stay again” as a title on your review because that is not what we expected from our conversations. We were so happy we met you and showed you the way to the house when you arrived; Randy seemed to love driving that road, it seemed like a second nature for him.
Weather conditions are out of our control, we were in the house the weeks prior to your stay to make sure everything was perfect in the house and the weather was great, we even shared videos of our fruit trees and views/sunsets with you while we were in the house.
The road condition is mentioned in the description, it is a rural road, in fact we texted you that you required a 4x4 and recommended to be guided by navigation system from the very beginning of our communication. We recommended two apps largely used in Costa Rica. The navigation app would had guided you to any location and if an incorrect turn was made, the app would had made you aware. We also told you the road is being worked on and in that process we lost some of our signs. We have additional ones and will replace them when the road improvements end.
I’m sorry you had to leave early, you told us the unusually cool temperatures were affecting you and did not want to deal with the pain which you had since you left Arizona. When you made us aware of your departure, we offered that the second couple that came with you could stay and that we could had arranged for a car service as needed but you told us they were coming back with you.
I hope you are feeling better and that your condition improves with time.

We found the house and property to be everything and more as promised. The house is spacious, clean and well maintained. Solar powered hot water is luxurious. Water from the mountain spring was delicious requiring no precautions. Kitchen is fully stocked and linens are new and comfy. Plenty of pillows too.
We wanted a house at the end of the road with no light pollution and we found it! The house is safe and secure with great neighbors. View to the ocean is unobstructed. A vista of only the green of the jungle all the way to the beach and beyond. Super sunsets every night - enjoyed by a lovely pool off the comfortable patio. The access roads do require a sturdy 4WD vehicle and a confident driver. There is no way to describe the myriad array of birds, butterflies, monkeys and coatis! The owners and concierge were available whenever we needed anything. The only drawback was having to leave. We will definitely stay here again.
This house is really something special. It's up on a hill, secluded from everything, overlooking acres of jungle, ocean, and sky. You'll hear and see all types of wildlife from the house (monkeys, tuscans, coati, hummingbirds etc) it's a magical place where you feel connected to mother nature. Our group did a lot of cooking in the house and they had everything we needed.
John and Fernando are SO AMAZING. I've traveled all over the world and stayed in many types of houses, and they are by far the best hosts I've ever worked with. Before we arrived to the house they sent me pictures and videos of the house getting me excited for my first trip to Costa Rica. They were incredibly quick with communication and sent me a list of things to do and see in Costa Rica. I highly, highly recommend staying here.
The house is on a hill so it takes about 30 minutes to get up from the many highway. It's worth it being a little farther from the city to get some of the most breathtaking views.
Everything about our stay was wonderful definitely 5 . One of the extra special parts was our host Fernando. He gave immediate attention to all our questions about Costa Rica ( regardless of how silly) and great suggestions to enhance our visit. Amazing sunsets every day, beautiful hummingbirds, and daily visits from Claude the coati!!! We couldn’t imagine a more wonderful time. Thanks so much.
