A Perfect Creative Retreat After Cannes
After an unforgettable and intense week at the Cannes Film Festival, I was in search of a place to rest, reflect, and recharge—and this VRBO in Vallérargues delivered beyond expectations.Tucked away in the serene countryside, the home provided exactly what I needed: privacy, quiet, and inspiration. The setting is impossibly peaceful—rolling fields, golden light, and the kind of stillness that allows your mind to settle and stretch. As a filmmaker and writer, I couldn’t have asked for a better space to re-center and return to the work.The house itself is beautifully kept—simple yet thoughtful, with warm touches that made it feel immediately welcoming. It’s clear that the hosts, Dominique and family, care deeply about the guest experience. They’ve created a space that allows you to be present: to slow down, breathe deeply, and take in the rhythm of rural life.Communication was friendly and easy throughout. Check-in was seamless. Every question I had—about the region, day trips, where to find local produce or the best places to write in the shade—was met with generous insight.If you’re looking for a restorative pause between projects or just a place to be still, this is it. I left feeling rested, creatively charged, and deeply grateful for the quiet hospitality of this very special corner of France.Thank you for everything—I'll be back.—Danny S.
