About this property
Lakeside Lookout has superb views of Norris Lake, a loft, and its own dock!
The Lakeside Lookout is an efficiency cottage on Norris Lake that gives you stunning views from its kitchen and deck. Entering the Lookout, you step onto new slate flooring and then onto the new luxury vinyl planking in the main living area. The main room has an overstuffed leather sofa, rocking chair, a 50" HDTV, and a DVD player. A king-sized bed, dresser, and closet are at the end of the spacious main room. A ladder takes you up to the loft to a queen bed and a bird's-eye view of the room below. Outside, a short walk down the paved sidewalk takes you to your own private dock and swimming platform.
The Lookout has a completely furnished kitchen with a full-sized dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink, drawers, cabinets, pantry, and a table for four. It also has a full bathroom with a toilet, sink, and tub/shower. Its deck sports a new gas grill, a prep table, a new dining table, and four new chairs.
The Lookout has a sleeping capacity of four and is a perfect rental partner with the Lakeside Lodge, the big lodge on the same property, VRBO Property No. 1692559. Together with the Lodge's sleeping capacity of twenty, the Lookout can extend the sleeping capacity of your group to 24 people.
OTHER AMENITIES: Easy parking with a big parking lot for your vehicle and boat trailer. The Lookout provides pots and pans, cooking, serving, and eating utensils, a hair dryer, hangers, a telephone land line, linens for each bed, a fire detector, and a fire extinguisher. The cottage has air conditioning throughout its 880 square feet and sleeps a maximum of 4 people.
The Lookout is pet-free and non-smoking. You may rent it for a minimum of three days from mid-August to June, and if you rent for six days, you receive the seventh day free. From June to mid-August, you may rent it for seven days, Saturday to Saturday.
The Lodge is part of Deerfield Resort, an exclusive, secluded area nestled between the Cumberland Mountains and the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. As our guest, you have free use of the community swimming pool, tennis courts, and playgrounds. You may also patronize Deerfield’s 18-hole golf course, private airstrip, two restaurants, marina, and tiki bar. Deerfield Resort is about 35 miles south of the Kentucky border, eleven miles from La Follette, and 30 miles north of Knoxville.
And Norris Lake has it all. Its beautiful, blue-green waters cover 34,000 acres and span over 800 miles of shoreline. The clear, pristine waters of the Clinch and the Powell Rivers provide endless opportunities for recreation – including swimming, bridge-jumping, rope swinging, boating, water skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding, tubing, jet skiing, jet boarding, hydro-biking, kayaking, fishing, and charter fishing. Around the lake, you’ll also find great places for ATV riding, horseback riding, biking, and hiking. It's the ideal place for vacationers and sports enthusiasts!

My wife and I live in Cincinnati, where I keep busy as a lawyer, a professor at Northern Kentucky University's Chase School of Law, and a landlord for our rental properties near UC campus. We love spending time with our family -- three children, five grandchildren, and two nieces. We especially love taking vacations as a family, and we like to include other members of our family -- siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and parents.
For years, our family vacationed in a place for three years -- like Lake Cumberland, the Outer Banks, and Destin, Florida. And then for various reasons, we moved on to another location. In 2015, we rented a vacation home on Lake Norris and returned the next two summers. But after three consecutive years, we realized that we still wanted to come back to Norris Lake. It was only four hours away -- not too far for our older children to drive with their young families. Not too far for our children in college to drive. And not too far for my parents to drive. Then we realized that if we bought a place, we could come down whenever we wanted -- all year long!
So we started looking for a place to call our own on Lake Norris.

So we started looking for a place to call our own on Lake Norris.
Why they chose this property
In late 2017, we first walked through the front door of the Lakeside Lodge, and we knew we had found our vacation home. The lake views were breathtaking. The welcoming living room was awesome. We loved the huge fireplace, the elk, and the western decor. We loved the spacious kitchen and dining room, the six master bedrooms, and the big, two-story deck -- all with incredible views.
And we loved the Lakeside Lookout, the delightful efficiency cottage on the same property that has its own dock and stunning views. It assured opportunities for our quick escapes to the lake for just the two of us -- and maybe a couple of kids.

What makes this property unique
We also loved the property's special advantages too -- like its easy sloping path down to the lakefront. In great contrast with the other Norris homes we had rented, it doesn't have many flights of stairs down to the dock. My parents, aunts, and uncles (and our small grandchildren) can walk down to the waterfront without difficulty. And in the Lodge, our grandchildren love the Kids' Kamp, the Lodge's fun bunk room with its own "cave" full of pillows.
Finally, our docks are just the right distance from the main channel of the lake. Our dock sits in a cove 600 feet away from speeding boats, so our swimmers can safely play and float. The distance allows the wakes to dissipate so that we can dock our boats safely and securely. At the same time, it's not a fifteen-minute boat ride in a no-wake zone to get into water-skiing water. Sixty seconds from our dock, your boat can be out of the no-wake zone and pulling a tube loaded with kids.
We have discovered that the Lakeside Lodge and its little cottage, the Lakeside Lookout, is the perfect place for our family vacation. We hope you discover it too.
