This place was excellent! Very clean and a nice private retreat for us. We also loved being so close to Asheville while still having the private cabin experience, 10/10 would stay again!

Brought our family for their first trip to see the Biltmore, the cabin was a perfect surprise for them. Everyone loved the views from the front porch each morning. The children thought having their own area upstairs was amazing. The entire place was so beautiful. Definitely will stay again !!

The location is picturesque and the amenities are fantastic. Perfect place for family gatherings. There was so much to do that we essentially never left the property. Very well appointed and well maintained. We have already recommended it to others.
This property is amazing! So much space and it is very well maintained. The covered front deck is amazing and has beautiful views. Alan the owner is very kind and accommodating!

Wonderful people and place. Second time here and we will be back.
Allen and Anne are wonderful people. The farm experience for the kids was such a special extra. The cottage is perfect for our family and we thoroughly enjoy the mountain hiking and beautiful views. Our grandkids created great memories together here. We will definitely be back.
We chose a fall time to visit snd the colors didn’t disappoint. The cabin was clean and inviting. The biggest challenge is driving the mountain road to get there as the pavement becomes narrow gravel road with many twists and turns.
This is the place to be! We had three families and between the pickle-ball court that doubles as a scooter pavilion for the kids, the hiking trails and hot tub, we had the most amazing adventure. Alan, the owner, was a delight and very considerate. It was a chilly weekend but the house was cozy and warm and a perfect, “nice but not too nice” vacation rental to have kids enjoy. We’ll be back!

Bearwallow Cottage was most relaxing! The porch makes the house. We spent a lot of time sitting relaxing, watching morning fog roll in making the hillside meadow dramatic, or watching the stars and moonlight at night. There are several rewarding hikes from the house with panaromic views at the top of the mountain. Great place for a family get together. Even during this year's summer heat waves, the temperature was more than pleasant.

Beautiful place - all just as advertised!
This was a truly beautiful cabin with everything just as advertised. The owners were wonderful to work with and the cabin had all the amenities mentioned and more! The welcome gift of local jams and honey was very much appreciated by our group of six adults, and the easy access to Asheville and other places via the local highway was great. The upstairs loft with it's queen bedroom on one side and four bunkbeds and play room on the other (separated by a bathroom) would be perfect for families. And there was still two more bedrooms downstairs - all with wonderful views.
We enjoyed our stay very much, and hope to stay there again some day.

We absolutely loved this house! The setting was beautiful. One family member who is in a wheelchair had no problem getting into and around the house. The view from the deck is worth a trip! Everything was clean and pleasant. The kitchen was well stocked. We tend to use a lot of towels, so we brought a couple of our own just in case. Still, there were towels there and a washer/dryer that worked very well.

Wonderful Experience
We loved this cabin! It was perfect for our group of 9. There was plenty of room for everyone. Mrs. Annie had everything labeled to help us know where to find things and how to use them. It was a super easy drive to downtown Asheville from the Cabin. The view was incredible. We even had a deer in the front yard when we woke up one morning! We would definitely come back to this cabin again! I literally have nothing bad to say about this experience.

The view is stunning. Very clean and maintained property. Would 100 percent recommend. Only issue we had was the hot tub was not warm the first day. The water was low and had not been heating prior to us getting there. It was resolved by the next day and was able to be used.

Amazing Mountain Getaway!
We had a great Spring Break stay at this secluded mountain cottage. We vacationed with another family (6 young children in total) and the place was very spacious, clean, and well appointed with all cooking and bathing necessities. There are mountain views from all over the cottage. In-person they were even better than the spectacular photos posted here online. Annie was even gracious enough to invite us down to their farm for the kids to meet and greet the animals - beyond hospitable! We also enjoyed the outdoor spaces quite a bit - the deck patio off the front of the house and the fire pit area on the driveway. We even had a very fun late night visit from the Owner's gorgeous chocolate lab, Chaos - such a sweet boy. This was our first experience renting through VBRO and it could not have gone better. Thanks, Annie!

We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to Bearwallow Cottage! It was a sincere pleasure meeting all of you and showing you the farm. We hope you come back again very soon!! Annie & Alan
Our family wanted a getaway after Christmas to go see the lights at Biltmore. We all agreed to stay in something with more mountain "charm", and we were not disappointed with Bearwallow Cottage! We arrived late afternoon and were pleased to see the pavilion decorated with lights, as well as our cottage and very own Christmas tree!!!
The kitchen had all we needed, the beds were on the firm side (which we prefer), the bathrooms were just right , we had plenty of room for our family of 7 both watching TV and at the dining room table. There was a bit of dust in the windows, but the view, the pavilion pickleball, the porch and the hot tub more than made up for that. Although it is a bit outside of Asheville, it was close to several hikes and Chimney Rock. The unpaved road was manageable for both our 4 wheel drive vehicles and one 2 wheel drive SUV and the directions were spot-on. We also had plenty of parking for our 3 vehicles.
Thank you Bearwallow Cottage for a lovely visit!!

Wow, Wow, WOW!
The only hesitation in submitting this review is that it might encourage others to book this gorgeous home...and we want it all to ourselves!
Nevertheless, Annie & Alan made our entire experience feel as though we WERE the only people who would ever stay @ Bearwallow.
The view from the front porch (which is a work of art) was an ever-changing masterpiece of mountain glory. The hike up to the meadow on the property is a must-do...almost 360-degree panorama of Blue Ridge ranges.
If you're a cook, don't bring your knives - Annie has generously stocked her kitchen with only the best tools...granite counters/JennAir cooktop/plenty of cabinet space, etc. etc.
Top-shelf bed linens; plentiful firewood for the wonderful wood stove; terrific recommendations on local restaurants; easy 25 minute drive to Lake Lure or Hendersonville...and did we mention the amazing front porch?
The 1+ mile trip up the narrow road to the house is not for the faint of heart, but our all-wheel drive Volvo had no trouble at all. Would not recommend attempting it after dark and/or more than a glass of wine.
We can imagine ourselves enjoying Bearwallow for many years to come!

Thank you so much, Bill and Cecily! We are truly delighted you enjoyed Bearwallow Cottage, and very sincerely appreciate your kind feedback. Come back, come back often! Cheers, Annie and Alan
We had a wonderful stay at Bearwallow. As a family, we were celebrating my MIL’s 80th b-day. Her sister was traveling from Arkansas to surprise her and family was visiting from Oregon as well as the SC coast. The cottage was gorgeous and the family loved the nearby hiking trails. One of our favorite pastimes was hanging out on the porch, enjoying the views, the quiet and the sweet sounds of nature. My SIL rounded the corner one evening, thinking she’d heard a deer. Much to our surprise, it was a mama bear and two cubs. We stayed a safe distance but were thrilled to see such a site so the cottage definitely lived up to its name. The cottage was roomy and we found all we needed in the kitchen. We were THRILLED to actually find a CLEAN grill for our use! Most places, it seems like the grill always needs cleaning but not here. The beds were super comfy. My only suggestion would be to add a grab bar in the downstairs bathrooms for added safety. That would be helpful for older guests and the downstairs guests did mention the tubs were a bit slippery. Most places have a guest book where you can find directions for certain things like operating the hot tub. We didn’t find one but there were a few directions posted near the door that were helpful. We had a fabulous time and we would love to come back again! Thanks for a wonderful stay and a great adventure for memories that will last a lifetime.
The house was just what we were looking for. Great place, accurately represented.

This property was absolutely beautiful. The house was just as described and came very well equipped. Everything you could possibly need was there. There were lots of extra touches like towels for the hot tub, Laundry detergent, hand soap, etc. The views are amazing and we loved that there are hiking trails right off the property. The roads getting up and down the mtn are a little precarious. So be prepared for a gravel one lane road. But otherwise, we couldn't have asked for anything more.
