Rus-tic: appropriate to the country, River Rat Cabin
Experience the beautiful Adirondacks in a rustic, yet cozy cabin. Dragonfly and River Rat are located on 9 private acres situated along the bank of the Oswegatchie River. There are only 3 cabins on the property, rent the 2 and bring the whole family or just rent 1 and still feel like your secluded. We stay in the 3rd cabin for the season.
River Rat cabin has a queen bed in a private bedroom with a window air conditioner. In the main living area there is a bunk bed and a twin mattress up in the loft area. Kitchenette is equipped with a full refrigerator, 2 burner stove top, coffee maker, toaster oven, and a propane grill on the porch. Pots, pans, dishes and utensils are all stocked up. Cabin does not have running water. The bathroom is located in a separate building a short distance from the cabin. The bathhouse contains two private bathrooms, one for each cabin. There is a large utility sink on the outside of the bathhouse to wash dishes. Large dining table to seat 5. Small living area with couch and chair to relax on. Comfortable chairs on the screened in front porch. Outside is a hammock, and your own fire pit with camp chairs and a picnic table. Common ground area that is shared with us and the other cabin has floats, canoe, and kayaks, horseshoe pit, ladderball, and other lawn games.

A beautiful cabin and such friendly hosts. We enjoyed the afternoon floating in the water followed by a campfire at night. I highly recommend and hope to come back someday!

A little bit of heaven
Clean, friendly host, quiet, nice place to go fishing or just relax
Me and my girlfriend stayed for just a couple nights and it was perfect, Jill and Ray were great hosts, right to the point and let us do our own thing. Perfectly quiet property, the cabins were exactly what we needed. I’ve already told my family about here and we’re definitely planning on coming back eventually.
Amazing tranquil rustic cabin on the river. Exactly as stated. I can see this as a perfect fishing vacation, a tranquil escape, or a place to gather with friends and family. Super cool and unique.
As backpackers, my partner and I are typically happiest with a minimalistic setup, and we felt spoiled and at home in this amazing cabin! You can feel the love, time, effort, and attention to detail that the host has put into it over the years (i.e. can opener in kitchen, fire pit ready to go with pre-chopped firewood, local guidebook/info). Our ONLY complaint or critique was that we couldn't stay forever :)
Great getaway!! A wonderfully rustic feel, perfect for the serene surroundings! We absolutely loved using the canoe to explore the creek, and I swam every morning and evening in the pristine water!! Every little detail of the cabin was thought out, from how the cabin was stocked to the lighting, to the comfy bed!! We slept like rocks in there!! We also loved chatting with the warm, inviting hosts, who gave us the lay of the land! Planning to come again!!
It was such a great weekend spending at this beautiful, wonderful clean and quite cabin.
Loved all the near by activities, especially those waterfalls.Looking forward to go back!
I would love to recommend this place to everyone!
