Our family spent a wonderful week at Rustic Lodge. The expansive waterfront deck was the place to be during the very hot week. Upon arrival we discovered plenty of storage and refrigerator space. The rooms were larger than they appeared in the property photos. We all loved the Adirondak feel of the Lodge and look forward to returning next summer.
Our family had such a wonderful stay. The location was beautiful and peaceful, and the cabin had a wonderful, homey feel. Everyone had something to do from enjoying the hot tub to taking the motorboat out to fish. Wonderful hiking as well.
The owner was also wonderful to communicate with. Overall this place is one of the best rentals our family has ever had.
Our family of 8 had a blast at this cottage. Cozy with tons of space. Fully equipped with everything you could think of. Absolutely Beautiful. We will definitely rent again.
Rustic Lodge met & exceeded our expectations for a family vacation spot on Trout Lake! There was plenty of space and activities for our group. We liked all the waterfront space, using the cedar hot tub, motor boat, canoe & kayaks, making meals over a wood fire by the lake. Our crew caught enough of fish to make fishing on the lake a wonderful experience! Also appreciated all the details of the cozy, rustic log cabin!
Loved staying at this property. It comfortably accommodated our 9 member family. The kitchen was super stocked with dishes, pots, utensils, etc. But the lake front is what really makes this property outstanding. The lake itself is scenic, quiet, and amazingly clean. Kayaks, canoe, pedal boat, paddle board and small motorboat provided plenty of water activity. And we all loved the wood-fired hot tub! Plenty of lounges and Adirondack chairs, and picnic table made this the main hang out area. Not a lot going on in the area, but we were content to stay put. Nice full service supermarket in Gouverneur, about 25 mins away. VRBO manager very responsive to inquiries, and owner proactive reaching out to us at check-in to provide info and answer questions. All in all, a great week at the lake.
Beautiful One of a Kind Waterfront - Amazing Vacation
Our family consisted of grandparents, adult children and young grandchildren. Our weather was wonderful which allowed us to take advantage of the most beautiful waterfront area of any vacation rental we have ever stayed at. The waterfront area consists of an amazing wood-fired hot tub that was enjoyed by everyone. All of us could spread out and relax on the provided lounge chairs and picnic table. Multiple people were able to be down at the waterfront and never felt crowded by one another. From there you could jump and swim. We loved the swim raft and we loved the provided kayaks and canoe. Also included was an 8 hp motor boat that allowed us to get out on Trout Lake and see the sights.
Fishing was enjoyable with the biggest bass caught being approximately 3.5 lbs.
Communication with the property manager and with the owner was easy and accurate in their descriptions.
Improvement suggestions would be more lighting as the cottage is dark inside, a bigger selection of games, and maybe new mattresses for a more comfortable sleep.
There are air conditioners in the window which are effective. The location is quiet and perfect for making family memories.
We thank you for your hospitality and for allowing us to stay in your lovely lakeside property.
We really enjoyed our week here and the cabin was one of the loveliest on the lake for a true Adirondack style and experience. The ability to use the motor boat was a very nice touch as we have some fishers in our family. The kayak, canoe and paddle board didn’t go unused either. The wood fired hot tub was a unique and fun experience for us all. Thanks so much.
The fishing was amazing and the boat ride across the lake was so relaxing. The dock is great for just sitting and reading a book or just morning coffee.
This cabin is a nice place to just enjoy some time with family and get away from the every day hustle. The best part is that this cabin came with all o the amenities to make the stay nice. Love the Weber grills. Also make sure you look in the butcher block for all of the kitchen gadgets because we dint end up finding the can opener until our last night there. The bedrooms are really spacious.
The only downside to the cabin is the upstairs isn't for tall people, especially if you had to many cocktails.
An absolutely beautiful home in an amazing location! Serene, south-west facing with great lake views and perfect afternoon sun.
The deck is especially nice for lounging and swimming, and the wood-fired hot tub is a great touch and much more peaceful and comfortable than an average loud plastic version. The home is rustic but has everything you need, and the hosts were friendly, helpful and communicative.
Our group of friends had an amazing weekend here, highly recommended for friends or family!
I fell in love with this house immediately when I saw the pictures. In fact, we took to calling it Becky's Dream house. It really was a dream. I brought my mom, grandma and friend Erika for a girls trip to the Adirondack region. We had a blast! The house was exactly as described and appeared in the photos. The house was clean and in perfect order. There was a binder in the house with a ton of notes, maps and other useful information about the surrounding area. You do have to bring your own sheets and towels, which I do not believe was mentioned on the listing. The hot tub is wonderful but it does need to be fired up and takes quite some time to heat. My friend Erika and I loved the experience of firing up the hot tub. We felt quite the sense of accomplishment when we finally got to sit in it. The hot tub was amazing! Mom and grandma loved sitting at the dining room table in the front room or on the dock looking at the fall colors and watching my friend and I kayak and get the fires going. We cooked hot dogs and marshmallows on the fire, kayaked around the small islands, shared stories while taking in the fall colors on the deck. It was a lovely, memorable time. We will never forget our wonderful time here. It was more than just a house, it was an experience. We would recommend this place to anyone! We hope we get to come back some day!
p.s. I also want to mention one other thing, the little store that is close (by 4 miles) to the house that is mentioned in the listing was great! They had excellent sandwiches, salads and snacks. The salads and sandwiches they had were delicious! The people were super friendly also. Great little place for stopping and picking up some basic supplies.
Our family had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage, with its incredible dockside, lovely interior with craftsman furniture, beautiful rugs and tasteful decor. The owners could not have been nicer, attending to a very few minor issues quickly and with good humor. The lake was very clear and clean, the swimming excellent and the fishing very good. This is a first class vacation cottage, and we recommend it without reservation

So glad you all had a great time at Rustic Lodge! It was a pleasure meeting your family!
The Rustic Lodge was the perfect lakeside retreat we were looking for. Steps from the lodge lead directly to your own personal dock / deck right on the lake. Kayaks, canoe and boat are all on-site for lakeside fun. The lodge itself was well equipped and it's theme added to our week long family gathering. We had a great time which may be the catalyst for a new family tradition.
Fantastic Lodge with everything you need during your stay
Fantasic Place. The lodge had everything we needed and the dock/patio on the lake was amazing. When we weren't on the lake fishing we spent most of our time on the dock. It had everything you needed with adirondack chairs, lounge chairs, tables, hot tub, boats, kayaks and easy access to the lake to go swimming. I highly recommend staying at this location. The people on the lake were very friendly.
We all loved absolutely loved this property! Immaculate home. Lovely furnishings. Gorgeous setting right on the water. Close proximity to family-friendly nature hikes. Cooked supper over outdoor fire. Enjoyed use of canoe and kayaks dawn to dusk. Took the motor boat out for a spin around beautiful Trout Lake. Relaxed on the expansive deck. Such fun! Looking forward to returning!
We had a wonderful stay. It was every bit as beautiful as described from the lake, hot tub, boat, kayaks to the house. We had a great time with our friends. Memorable trip with our friends.
I can't say enough great things about this rental. Owner very attentive to any needs, which were few. Waterfront is the real jewel of this spot. The wood fired hot tub, pristine clean water for swimming, easy access for our fishing boat as well as the use of the motor boat that comes with the rental. We had such a great time and will return as soon as we can!!!
The property was beautiful with a lot of lakefront access that included patio and a huge deck. It provided the perfect outdoor space. The cedar hot tub was easy to use and was a lot of fun for both adults and kids. The fire grill was also great for evening dinners by the lake. My only recommendations would be to have a spring closed screen door. The kids would accidentally leave the door open which lead to flies in the house. Pretty simple fix. Otherwise this was an great house!
