A great way to "get away from it all" in Charleston. Enjoy this spacious 1064 square foot cottage located in a beautifully landscaped private garden setting.
Beautifully furnished, always spotlessly clean with a well-furnished full kitchen...and totally away from the crowds. The cottage is a free-standing self-contained private accommodation in a beautiful garden setting with off street parking.
Only four miles from the Historic District the Cottage is close to Middleton and Magnolia Gardens, Drayton Hall, Charles Towne Landing, McLeod Plantation, the Intracoastal Waterway and 20 minutes from Folly Beach. The ten mile long West Ashley Greenway is just two blocks away. It's great for walking and biking. Our own private garden with koi pond and waterfall is also a nice place to unwind.
Getting out of the downtown crowd allows our guests to relax and enjoy a 1064 square foot cottage with TWO Queen size beds in ONE 25' X 12' bedroom and a large living area. The property has an awesome kitchen with marble countertops and a large living area where guests can share a meal and some quality time together.
If you want to go downtown it's five minutes away. If you want to walk the gardens, ride or walk the greenway or just stare out across a gorgeous Intracoastal waterway view you can do that right here in West Ashley on your own schedule. All of these options are between 2 and 15 minutes away. Many restaurants in the area deliver independently or participate with GrubHub and UberEats.
The Cottage is located in the DuPont section of West Ashley on Wappoo Road between the West Ashley Greenway and the Stono River Overlook ICW at the Edgewater Park Bridge. The building faces a private garden behind a privacy gate and is completely separate from the owners' home which is also on the property. We are located two miles from the Avondale entertainment district and four miles to downtown Charleston and the Medical District.
We enjoy interacting with guests, but we also believe in giving people their space. All arrangements can be made online and contact-free. We are generally available during the day between 8AM and 7PM and we are happy to assist you with local information or any special needs. The Cottage at DuPont is a fully licensed short term rental accommodation in the City of Charleston. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS, CHILDREN, SMOKING OR EVENTS OF ANY KIND.

Charlie Smith and Rob Suli re-envisioned, redesigned and rebuilt both the main house on the property as well as what became the Cottage at DuPont from 2016-2019. Charlie is a City Planner by education and independent Real Estate professional by trade. Rob is a retired VA Benefits specialist.
Why they chose this property
Charleston's West Ashley area was actually the birthplace of the both the City of Charleston and the State of South Carolina. The DuPont community of West Ashley was one of the earliest populated areas on the West side of the Ashley River directly across from downtown.
The 10 mile long West Ashley Greenway was once the right of way for the Charleston and Savannah Railroad chartered in 1854. The Cottage is located one block south of the Greenway along what was once the southern end of the Kings Highway.
Downtown is just across the river, but if you want to visit Magnolia or Middleton Gardens, walk the greenway or just stare out across a gorgeous Intracoastal waterway view you can do that right here in West Ashley on your own schedule. All of these options are between 2 and 15 minutes away. Folly Beach is about 20 minutes away.

Sitting by the pond in the morning with a cup of coffee or enjoying a glass of wine there in the afternoon is a great way to relax. If you're lucky, our very shy red-eared slider, Hoity Toity, may grace you with her presence. If Rob and I are in the garden come join us.
