About this property

Delightful, barn cottage in peaceful rural village. Walks, pubs, scenery. Relax!

DAIRY YARD COTTAGE forms part of a listed stone barn, dating back to the eighteenth century, which has been sympathetically renovated, retaining many of the period features and character of the original farm building, such as flagstone floor, beamed ceilings and exposed timbers.
Carefully restored and decorated in a classic, country style with neutral colours, sea grass floor coverings etc., it provides a comfortable base, in a peaceful rural setting, from which to discover the Cotswolds.
It is an ideal retreat for a couple or small family and many of our visitors have become regular guests here.
Spread over two floors, the entrance hall, with cloakroom/ WC, leads through to a light, airy, reception room with plenty of space for both relaxing and dining. The door from the main room leads to a modest size, well equipped, fitted kitchen. An easy rise staircase opens onto a spacious landing, two pretty bedrooms and a bathroom. The main bedroom has a king size bed with bedside tables, wardrobe, dressing table, etc and there is sufficient space to erect a travel cot for guests with a baby. The second bedroom is smaller, has twin beds and is ideal for an additional adult guest or children. The bathroom, with basin and WC, has a fitted shower over the bath. There is plenty of off street parking directly outside the cottage.
Dairy Yard Cottage is set within the grounds of Home Farm, a classic Cotswold stone farmhouse, where we have lived for almost three decades. Our four children had a wonderful 'free range' childhood growing up here, surrounded by dogs, cats, chickens and with sheep and horses grazing in the fields beyond - we are now welcoming our grandchildren here! Our guests also appear to get enormous pleasure enjoying the space and rural atmosphere of the area and a chance to unwind in the gently, rolling Cotswold hills.

Directions were easy to follow and thorough, we found the cottage without issue and were able to let ourselves in. Inside, everything was spotless and there were some toys and resources for our kids (cot, high chair). Also, there was a binder full of local places to visits, paths to walk, maps, restaurants, etc. It was VERY useful!Sally-Anne was lovely once we met her and we had a great time chatting with her.

A perfect, quiet and beautifully comfy cottage

This is a perfect place to explore the Cotswolds. It was exceptionally cosy and had everything we needed. It was quiet and had lovely views over the garden. It is well located, so we were able to go on walks from right outside the door - to woods, across fields and to pretty villages with pubs and cafes.

Very comfortable cottage in beautiful countryside

The cottage was clean, comfortable and warm. It was good to find the basics, salt, pepper oil, herbs, sugar etc which doesn't always happen in other properties. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would like to return.

Wonderful time at Dairy Yard Cottage

My friend and I had the most perfect stay at the cottage. Comfort and quiet along with great walks right on the doorstep. The food in the pub almost next door was superb, and it was lovely to meet Sally-Anne our wonderful host. Many thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

Beautiful and Peaceful

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The property was exactly as described, charming, quiet, lovely gardens. Easy walk to the little village, everyone we met in the village was very friendly and we took nightly walks around the neighborhood. The lodging had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The hosts were very responsive to any questions or needs. We would highly recommend!

Lovely cottage in lovely village

This is a lovely place perfectly suitable for a family. Kineton is a small village with its own pub a mere two minutes walk away. The nights are quiet and the waking up sounds are bird song only. Beautiful hikes right from the doorstep or just a short drive away. The cottage has a gorgeous garden to enjoy with friendly chickens and cats. Sally-Anne, the host, and her family could not have been more welcoming.

Lovely break in the countryside

The cottage was very easy to book with good communication with the host Sally Anne. The cottage is extremely well appointed and spotlessly clean. The gardens are amazing where we encountered very friendly hens and chickens,(never actually stroked a chicken before). Each morning we were greeted by Goose and Teal, two lovely Labradors. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this wonderful cottage in the countryside.

Lovely stay at Temple Guiting

The cottage was perfect. Beautifully decorated, plenty of room, comfortable beds and a lovely rain shower and bath. The garden is wonderful and Sally-Anne, her husband and the dogs were most welcoming :-) Our kids enjoyed roaming the garden, playing with the dogs and jumping up and down the trampoline. It was extremely warm during our stay (+40°!) but Sally-Anne gave us a great suggestion to check out 'the splash' with the kids. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back for exploring the beautiful area!

Perfection

We could not have enjoyed our stay at the Dairy Yard Cottage more. Sally-Ann and Mickey were sincerely warm and welcoming, even in the face of a scheduling error on our part. The cottage is beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. The grounds are stunning. The location is just perfect for day trips around the Cotswolds and surrounding areas. We highly recommend the beautiful walk to Guiting Power, and a delicious dinner at the Halfway (the gastropub up the road -- you'll want to make a reservation beforehand). We can't wait to come back to our new favorite spot to unwind.

Wonderful cottage in the Cotswolds

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dairy Yard Cottage. It is hard to imagine a better spot to explore the northern Cotswolds and the country around the cottage itself is beautiful. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped, and quite roomy, particularly for just the two of us. Sally-Anne and Mickey were warm and helpful hosts. There is a great breakfast place (The Old Post Office) in Guiting Power, just a mile or so walk across the fields, and we enjoyed good dinners at the Hollow Bottom, also in Guiting Power. The pub just down the road in Kineton is also very good. You do need a car and to be comfortable driving single-lane roads, but that is true anywhere in the Cotswolds.

Picture Perfect Cotswolds Cottage

This cottage and premises are straight out of a fairytale story. My husband and I stayed here with our 7yr old girls during our stay in the Cotswolds. The cottage is beautifully decorated, very well maintained and the premises are just stunning. It provided the perfect English countryside experience we were looking for as a family. There was plenty of green space outside for our girls to run and enjoy themselves, we all loved the beautiful gardens. It is conveniently located close to many of the well-known Cotswolds villages, like Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton on the Water and many more. Sally-Anne was a great host and provided assistance when needed. This was overall one of the highlights of our trip to England, even our 7yr olds are still raving about it!

Treasured memories at Dairy Yard Cottage

Our family absolutely cherished our time here. We had chosen this location because we wanted to be a bit off the beaten track, and to explore the Cotswold countryside as much as possible on foot. We loved our visits to the nearby towns and day trips to places like Warwick Castle and Bath, but more than anything we loved our long walks along the myriad footpaths nearby, which allowed us to enjoy meadows, woods, rivers, fields, and miles of tranquil scenery. We really appreciated that Sally Ann and Micky had left so much helpful information about circular walks and other local routes, so we had no trouble finding our way around. And our children loved the dogs and cats so much that they sobbed when it was time to leave them! Thank you so much for a truly beautiful and magical week.

Dream Cottage

Where to begin? Everything about this cottage and the estate it sits on is top notch -- gorgeous, clean, thoughtfully appointed, etc. Having access to laundry facilities was clutch. Being able to walk right out our door to the little pub/restaurant down the street (literally about 150 steps), across the gorgeous fields to the sweet town of Guiting Power, or out and about on the country roads was lovely. This amazing place has access to so many of the 'must-see' towns in the Cotswolds but it was always a treat to return to our peaceful and inviting cottage at the end of the day. Sally-Anne was welcoming and inviting but not in the least intrusive. Her happy menagerie of animals added to the experience. We loved it here and were so sad to leave. This place has so much to offer, even more than is shown on the listing, and its owner is kind enough to share it with others at a VERY reasonable price -- thank you, Sally-Anne! We hope to visit with you again.
