Casa do Picouto is a typical rural house with all comfort for 5 guests. Near Ponte de Lima district, the house is set in a small farm with an orchard of apple trees, gardens and a delightful swimming pool that is an invitation to rest and leisure.
The Casa do Picouto is located in Gemieira, in the Lima valley, located 3 km west from Ponte de Lima, that you can easily reach, from the north or the south of the country (80 Km from the Porto airport), or even from the neighbouring Spain, using practical and fast highways (A3, A27, A28), and appreciating a surrounding amazing green landscape of mountains, forests and river.
There is a whole set of activities you can practice in the neighbouring areas: canoeing and rowing, walking, horse riding and cycling, visiting the surrounding villages and cities, or you can simply enjoy your stay in the premises, a charming piece of paradise.
The house is surrounded by green mountains cut by the live and bustling river running through.
The guests will have access to all the house, gardens and swimming pool.

We thoroughly enjoyed Paula’s lovely house in the countryside. It was immaculate and well stocked. The pool and surrounding orchard were nice at the end of our days exploring in the heat.

Shame about the weather

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings, nice pool and large garden. Very well equipped with nice extras like biscuits, crisps, salt and coffee. Unfortunately it rained almost every day we were there so we couldn't fully appreciate the beauty of the area. Communication with Paula was easy

Paula es una anfitriona estupenda y la casa es acogedora, bien equipada, limpia, en un entorno ideal

El alojamiento es muy agradable, con una piscina y un jardín precioso y en una zona ideal para pasear cerca del río y de pueblos muy bonitos (Ponte de Lima, Ponte da Barca...). La casa es muy amplia, limpia y Paula muy atenta y muy cariñosa con la familia y con nuestros perrunos. Nos encantará volver a pasar otra maravillosa semana en su propiedad.

Perfect property - peace and tranquility,

We stayed in Sept 2019. This property was just first class. The communication and check in process made very straightforward by Paula - and many thanks to her brother Pedro who greeted us very efficiently on arrival. The setting is so tranquil and the garden truly private and peaceful with many areas to relax and enjoy. The pool (no chemicals, such a bonus) is just lovely. The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped and has everything you need for home comforts, Particularly enjoyed the small area for rest and relaxation - (lovely for a bit of yoga!) and also late in the evening eating by the open fire in the dining room was fabulous. Although there is peace and privacy the property is not isolated and within less than a 10 minutes walk there is a small general store, bread shop and a bar all of which were a real bonus. Short drive to Ponte de Lima for large supermarkets - the Lidl is well stocked and easy to access. A short walk down the road takes you to a waterfall and old mill and to the banks of the River Lima where you can picnic. From there also you can walk (or cycle as we did) to Ponte de Lima and to Ponte de Barca on the beautiful ecovia path. On the doorstep and only a short drive takes you into the National park (Peneda- Gerres, visit Lindosa and the dam nearby- amazing views you and find the beautiful waterfalls - there are lots to discover) Paula had left wine and water, milk and juice and some fabulous home made biscuits to greet us on arrival. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this very lovely property. Thank you Paula, we had a truly fantastic holiday, loved the property and the area and loved Portugal and the Portuguese!.

Gostei de tudo nesta casa: as condições, os mimos, cada pormenor da decoração... Tem tudo para uma estadia excelente. Se fosse um mês de Verão ainda poderia ter desfrutado de toda a envolvente exterior que é enorme e muito aprazível. A D. Paula é de uma amabilidade e simpatia espetacular, sempre disponível. Of all my VRBO stays, this house is one of my top 3.

The house is located a few kilometres from Ponte de Lima. It is a beautiful stone cottage with all the modern conveniences. In addition to the outdoor swimming pool, there is a covered dinning area set in an orchard of various fruit trees. A short walk takes you to the site of an old ruined mill with several waterfalls which lead down to a trail beside the Rio Lima. The house is very well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay .A laundry machine was a welcome sight after a week of working on a Habitat for Humanity build. Having dinner in the formal dinning room with a fire burning in its fireplace was especially welcome. The lounge chairs and cushions were new and perfect for a day spent reading around the pool. The owner Paula was very accommodating and we plan to return soon. You will love staying at Argos de Valdevez.

Perfect place to spend your holidays!

Casa do Picouto is a wonderful place to spend your holidays. The house ist very cosy with all necessary equipment, all rooms are decorated nicely and everything is very well-kept. The garden and pool are really fabulous, so charming with a lot of beautiful flowers and trees, with a great view to the mountains, just perfect to spend the whole day there! The owner of the house, Paula, was very kind and helpful, always reachable to give any needed advice. The Casa is very well located in the north of Portugal, near Ponte de Lima, a beautiful typical northern Portuguese town. The whole region has not too much tourism, you can still experience real traditional Portuguese way of life. We would definitively recommend this place! Isa, Pedro, Christian, Xica

A superb holiday.

We had an excellent visit to the casa. It's a great house and pool in an interesting area of Portugal. A spacious casa and a large outdoor area to enjoy. You have great options to relax in the sun or shade outdoors. The pool is first class. You are made to feel very welcome by Paula. Ponte de Lima is charming and has many interesting restaurants and bars. There are other places to visit further afield, but like us you may put them off for another day, to enjoy the casa and the immediate area as fully as possible.

Un sueño hecho realidad

El entorno,la finca ,la casa,la piscina,el tiempo...todo fué mejor de lo que pudimos imaginar.Señalar que tanto Paula como su hermano Pedro y su mujer Sonia fueron super atentos en todo momento y nos hicieron sentir como en casa desde el minuto uno.Gran detalle de bienvenida con nuestra botella de vino,zumo para los niños y galletitas para nuestro perro.A destacar también lo limpio y cuidado que tienen todo,da gusto.Volveremos seguro a la casa de nuestros sueños!!!!!!!!

Óptima semana em família

A Casa do Picouto foi o cenário ideal para as férias em família que tanto ansiávamos (dois casais e duas priminhas bebés). Está espectacularmente bem equipada e decorada. As fotografias não fazem justiça ao encontrado. O espaço exterior está muito bem cuidado, com uma piscina maravilhosa, relva com fartura que se extende para a zona de árvores de fruto. Parabéns aos proprietários. Conseguiram criar um local quase perfeito. Só foi pena a chuva ter aparecido em dois dias, o que nos valeu foi a colecção de DVDs e o conforto da sala de estar. Adorámos, pena ter chegado ao fim mas levamos connosco óptimas recordações.
