Such a stunning locationCottage was cosy & warm and the beds so comfortable. Had a fabulously sunny breakfast on the terrace and the views from the house are mesmerising. Rowena was very easy to deal with and even sent us a tide table!
We had the most wonderful stay here at Cliff cottage in Dittisham. The cottage was cosy with the most beautiful views over the Dart, and the terrace was a gorgeous place to sit and watch the boats go by. We were very fortunate with the weather, having bright sunny days, however when it got cold at night we loved lighting the fire and feeling toasty warm. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
What an amazing place. Cosy with magical views. We parked the car and did not use it until we left as one can access Dartmouth by ferry from the doorstep with regular boats even in March. We look forward to returning.

Thank you, Lizzie, for your lovely review. I would be delighted to welcome you back at any time, and am so glad you had a wonderful stay.
We had a fabulous stay in this cottage, the location is fantastic and the local pub is well worth a visit serving great food. Overlooking the river there is always plenty going on, we even spotted some bull seals lazing on a pontoon, there is also plenty of wildlife to see. We will certainly be returning one day, communication with the owner Rowena was always prompt and helpful.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. You were brilliant guests and we would love to have you back to stay again.
Amazing location and the addition of the decking overlooking the river a real bonus. The cottage is cosy, especially upstairs, but the open plan layout is good. My only concern was that the mattress in the main bedroom very hard and should be replaced, or a cheap topper added. There were new mattresses in the bunk bed room. Would recommend as a place to stay.
We had a wonderful time in Dittisham. We know the area well, but had never stayed right on the water's edge. The views are glorious. The weather wasn't great, but we took every opportunity to sit outside and just take in all the activity and life of the river. The house is comfortable and accommodated us and our dogs really well. Loved it!

Cliff Cottage is in the best position in Dittisham, so much to watch all the time. The ferries, the Navy training boats, yachts, canoes and lots of wildlife...we couldn’t tear ourselves away. We took kayaks and having the slipway and beach meant we could use them easily and store them when not in use. The cottage is comfortable and well stocked, beds and bathrooms are great. However we spent most of the time outside! The information supplied by Rowena was clear and very useful, many thanks. We will definitely come to Cliff Cottage again soon.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. I am so glad you had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, and we would love to welcome you back again any time.
We felt privileged to be able to stay in such a wonderful spot. It was so restful and tranquil sitting on the glass enclosed terrace- we had breakfast outside every morning and enjoyed just watching the comings and goings of the river.
The property is not the easiest to get to but instructions given on how best to access Cliff Cottage made it fine.
The house itself had lots of character and was very cosy and well equipped . We particularly enjoyed the Rayburn which we at first thought would make the house too hot in the summer but was not the case at all especially when it got cooler in the evenings .
Having the Ferry Boat Inn and Anchor Cafe so close was an added bonus
We hope to be able to return soon
Just from the online listing we loved this property so much that we reorganized our holiday so we could stay, there, and we're so glad we did. If you want to have the quintessential English country escape to the seaside, this is your place. While not on the coast it's on a beautiful tidal river just a few miles and short boat ride from the coast. The town could not be more charming. There's lovely hill walking all around and boats to take you to many places, including Greenaway, the Agatha Christie summer estate, just across the river. The town has just two pubs and two restaurants, but that suited us just fine. We loved getting to know the locals at the pub across the road. But the house is the main attraction. You won't want to leave. You'll want to enjoy the patio and deck overlooking the river or snuggle up by a wood fire. Finally, we had great communication from the property manager Rowena.

Character filled cottage with perfect outlook on to the Dart!
Cliff Cottage is chock full of period character! The view from the window in the snug was straight out of an award winning photo contest! Everything from the Rayburn range to the flagstone floor delivered charm and added to the amazing view just outside the door. (The stairs make a very sharp turn at the top so sure rootedness is necessary.) The showers are that new rainfall shower head which as just lovely, with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The pink building next door, the Ferry Boat Inn, has the best pizza’s and that’s no exaggeration! The cafe next door books up at least a week in advance so book before you even arrive to the cottage, but don’t worry, if you don’t get a seat they do take away and the private seating on the front of the cottage is the best seat in the house anyway! The National Trust property Greenway, Agatha Christies house, is the three minute ride across the river and straight up the path into the trees...but book that early as well as you’ll want an early slot to be able to spend the day. The ferry ride to Dartmouth was twenty minutes of not knowing which way to look as the banks of the river are filled with one beautiful home and boat house after another. There is a big telly, but it isn’t a smart tv so bring DVD’s or a PlayStation to turn it into a smart tv which is what we did and it worked a treat. Oh, lastly, the village shop has everything you need to not have to leave the cottage for the whole week....we never had to move our car from the car park even once.

Liked: Communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Location and view to die for.
Lack of details about access to village and property. Described as rustic....it was cramped in the bedrooms and downstairs furniture not particularly comfortable. Bedlinen very clean. Kitchen equipment needs thorough cleaning.
We had a super stay at Cliff cottage. There were two of us and our dog enjoying this lovely location. Good long walks and calm and tranquil surroundings. Thank you
We had a glorious long weekend at Cliff Cottage. It is a perfect little hideaway. We were swimming the Dart 10k, but could actually have happily sat on the terrace watching the river and the world go by all weekend.
Off loading the car was a bit of a challenge, but once accomplished we were happy to leave it in the car park and not bother with it again.
I really recommend Cliff Cottage for a family trip.

Thank you very much, Emma, for taking the time to leave a review. I am thrilled you had a wonderful stay, as well as achieving the 10K! Please come back and stay again.
Cliff Cottage suited me completely. I liked the simplicity of the interior, comfortable and homely rather than clinical and over styled. Such a beautiful riverside location from which to watch the sailing world go by and to study seabirds on the shore. Also a great location for exploring the surrounding countryside on foot or by boat. I enjoyed my time here so much I plan to return in Spring!

A beautiful house with stunning views
We loved it! Waking up every morning to look out over the estuary, crabbing on the pontoon and easy access to Dartmouth, Paignton, Salcombe and many more. Lovely pup, the Ferry boat Inn, literally on your door step!

Location, location, location
River front setting, cosy, well equipped cottage and good spaces for the dogs all set in picturesque south Devon... what more could you want?? Lovely stay. We were sad to leave the glorious view. Crabbing and roaming the local beach keeps kids well entertained. Probably not for people with poor mobility but superb otherwise. We would love to return. Could use some updated pillows but otherwise very comfortable in all regards.

Stunning location, great base to explore Dartmouth, Totnes, Brixham etc
The cottage was well laid out, lovely and cosy and warm, fabulous views, that you could never get tired of. The bed was comfortable, bathrooms clean. Unfortunately there were some disappointments: the access via the beach was blocked by other vehicles, we totally understand this is out of your control but it was still a problem for us with respect to unloading and loading; the overall cleanliness of the cottage was average but the kitchen area, particularly where the pots and pans were stored, was very dirty, one small frying pan still had old fat in it and there were other pans that had the remains of food in them; we found the heating boiler very noisy, again probably out of your control; the door we had to use to enter and exit the property seriously stuck and was very difficult to open and close, this was the only door we could use. Please don't take these comments the wrong way, we had a lovely weekend, but if you're not aware of these issues you can't have the opportunity to put them right.

Thank you for your review, and you are quite right, we always welcome feedback. I am very pleased that you had a great weekend and enjoyed the cottage and its stunning views. I'm very sorry that you had an issue with access to the beach for unloading, and also that pans were left in a less than clean state. I've not heard of an issue with vehicles blocking the way before, but will certainly log your comments and observe that, and I have made a note to ensure the pan cupboard is thoroughly checked at each change over. With regard to the audible boiler and sticky door I'm afraid these can be features of an older Devon riverside cottage, but we will check the door so please accept my apologies and thank you again for your feedback.
