Located in the heart of the Jardine, Montana the Jardine Retreat Cottage was built in 2019. Escape from the crowds of Yellowstone and get away from the stresses of every day life. This two bedroom cottage has a kitchen, a cozy fireplace to relax by, and the sounds of Bear Creek just outside. Enjoy hiking and ski trails right out the front door. Jardine is a quiet, serene community surrounded on three sides by Wilderness, and is just 5 miles away from Yellowstone National Park. The Jardine Retreat Cottage is a newly constructed getaway with rustic mountain charm. It has two bedrooms with queen beds, one full bathroom, a kitchen with cooking utensils, dining room, and a living room with comfy couches around a gas fireplace with a TV above in a secret cabinet. The house comfortably accommodates four people, and is perfect for two couples traveling together. Tucked right up against the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness Jardine abounds with hiking, fishing, horseback riding (through local outfitters) in the Summer, cross-country and backcountry skiing and snowshoeing in the Winter, and endless year-round wildlife watching and outdoor exploring. There are no services in Jardine (ie: fuel, grocery stores, restaurants, etc) so remember to top up your fuel tank, go out to eat, and grab some groceries and those last couple of essentials at the Gardiner Market before heading up the road to Jardine.
Only Verizon phones work in Jardine. We do have WiFi! There is no TV/cable/satellite service, but for rainy days we do have a TV screen with online streaming capabilities and a DVD/Blu-ray player with a handful of movies available to watch, as well as games, books and puzzles to enjoy by our cozy fireplace.
Summer 2025 Update. Park County is short staffed and having a budget crisis. Because of this, they are not able to maintain the Jardine Road to the normal condition we have become accustomed to. There are extra potholes on the Jardine road. A 2WD can still make the drive, but expect it to be a little bumpier and take a little longer than usual. We're still only about a 15-20 minute drive away from Gardiner, and the views are amazing, as always. Please contact your host, Zondra, directly for the most up to date road report. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
As your host, I am happy to help answer questions and give you info about the following activities: *Yellowstone Park tours *Horseback riding *EBike rentals *Whitewater Rafting *Hiking *Hot Springs visit *Fly fishing *Massage therapy appointments
The Cottage is supplied by fresh mountain well water from an 80ft deep well. The water is fantastic, and we also filter it for extra purity. Reusable water bottles are provided for guests, and we discourage the use of single use water bottles when possilble.

Everything in the cabin is very comfortable, and the decor is very cozy; the scent upon entering was incredibly delightful. The heated floor in the bathroom is an excellent idea. The only things that would have come in handy were a blender or a hand mixer, and a colander. Thanks for the wine.
This little cabin is perfect for staying in while exploring Yellowstone. Zondra was very quick to reply and accommodate our requests. She even left hot chocolate, coffee, some snacks and a bottle of wine! Thank you for a lovely stay

Loved this little cabin. It was clean, plenty of dishes, pots and pans, and basic items stocked. Beds were comfortable, pillows and sheets felt great. The heated floor in the bathroom felt great (going to have to get that in my next house). Our host reached out to check on us, and was very prompt in response when we had a question for her. Highly recommend this place,
Great choice if you're visiting Yellowstone. You can see Mammoth Hot Springs from the drive back into town. Cabin was plenty big for our family of 4. Cabin was clean and I loved the heated floor tile in the bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner each day we stayed. There is a grocery store and a gas station in town so you don't have to remember everything.
This Cabin...in an old Gold-Mining village, ROCKS.The layout was perfect for our needs, and we were very comfortable there...and well taken care of.Please be aware of the challenges in getting to this location and take what you need with you, as this is NOT close to anything but the great outdoors.

Host was great, responsive and prompt. Clean, newly remodeled and well kept. Plenty of supplies to be self sufficient.
This cabin was very nice and cozy. The fireplace was great on the snowy days we were there. The heated floors in the bathroom were awesome. We had no trouble finding the place up the mountain. It is about a 15 minute drive up the mountain from Gardiner, so be sure to plan for that when going into/leaving the park.
Neat, clean and comfortable...had hoped for a better view
Neat, clean and comfortable....enjoyed our stay, location convenient to north entrance to Yellowstone....description of property was accurate but we falsely assumed the view would be better

Amazing stay. Would be my first consideration on a return visit to Yellowstone. Those that have complained about the short drive down a rough road, stay at a Holiday Inn next time. You can't feel more like you're living in the mountains than when staying here. If you came to relax and get away from the world, this is your place.
This cozy cabin worked very well for us with easy access to the Park but out of the way of the bustle of Gardiner in summer. The heated bathroom floor was great. With the long days in June we spent little time there, but it was a nice place to come back to. Definitely recommend it as a good accommodation if visiting the Park.
Kitchen has everything you need. Living room furniture is getting worn out and getting uncomfortable. Beds are comfortable and great pillows. Warm and cozy. The road is terrible as it has not been graded.
Extremely comfortable and with all the amenities you will need. Very quiet setting which was wonderful! The drive up the hill was pretty bumpy so be vehicle cautious. The set up is not for anyone who is handicapped (no railing for steps and a deep step in shower.
After staying at rooms without a bathroom in Yellowstone, we had a super relaxing stay in Jardine. The place was clean and inviting. The beds were a little squeaky but we had good nights rest. I was worried about the unpaved road but didn’t have a problem even after a heavy rainfall. I would highly recommend!
The cabin was attractive, comfortable, and had all the necessities plus lots of extras. Don’t buy coffee, filters, spices, condiments, and lots of other supplies before you get there. So many items are already there. We really enjoyed spending the day in the park and hanging out playing Yellowstone Monopoly that was in the cabin in the evenings. We would definitely stay there again.
Overall it was a great experience. Place was quite, had everything we needed and beds were comfortable. Only issue we noticed was the shower was either hot or cold no matter where the handle was positioned. Sometimes it would pop and then the pressure would change and then you could adjust the water temp like normal. We would stay here again.
House was 👍,
Someone working for the county needs to learn how to operate a road grader, road was very bumpy to the house.

What makes this property unique
Jardine is a great remote getaway away from the crowds of Yellowstone, yet close enough to the park to easily visit it daily. In the winter there is great cross country skiing right out the front door, and in the summer, great hiking and horse back riding right out the front door. There is world class whitewater rafting just 5 miles away in Gardiner.
