Unique area of New Orleans named West End - dating back to the early 1800`s. Originally built as a resort, the area now houses the boating community of New Orleans. There is a park with a running and walking path - as well as areas along the rocky shore. Locals come to the area to fish, crab, launch their boats and watch sunsets - just to name a few! The area was impacted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has since been rebuilt. The marina and shoreline were rebuilt in 2019.
It is 1.1 miles to the bus stop on the corner of Robert E. Lee and Lakeshore Drive (Lakeview Line #45) - about a 20 minute walk. That line will get you to the Base of Canal Street (Cemeteries Transportation Center) where you can catch the Street Car into the city at Canal St & City park Avenue.
Of course, there is always uber and taxi`s.
You will love it!

We enjoyed our time in this quaint boat house. Our kids loved it and spent a lot of time on the back deck in the hammocks, watching the boats come in and out of the marina.
Stayed here for a guys trip to New Orleans! Everything about this boathouse was amazing! Communication with the host was helpful. Great location, very clean, and safe! Would definitely love to stay here again in the future!
The home is great! The views are amazing. We have always stayed in the Garden District, thought we'd try something different. This house was everything we could have wanted.
We had so much fun. Fishing while we were there wasn't good but after speaking to the locals figured out it was because the water wasn't clear. Minus not catching the first fish we had a blast! Location was beautiful and home is well taken care of. Owner was very accommodating and we would definitely stay there again.
This place was perfect for our bachelor weekend!! There are beautiful sail boats coming and going. Seating for all 6 guys on the deck with a view! There is a great store very close, Roberts, that has a buffet and they had wonderful crawfish and lots of other options for non seafood eaters. Great house in a great area!! Loved it!!
Our girls weekend getaway at Boathouse 84 was perfect! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with cozy comfort and charming decor. Morning coffee (and evening cocktails!) were enjoyed overlooking Lake Ponchartrain from the front or watching the sailboats pass by from the back deck view of the marina. Both were a perfect backdrop for relaxation! We could easily get to the French quarter/Bayou/Midcity/Garden in a 10 minute drive. We appreciated the onsite parking for our rental car. Check in/Check out- easy with thorough communication and direction from our host- Thank you James! We will be back!
My family and friends were visiting the Southern Yacht Club for a Junior Sailing regatta over Thanksgiving holiday. The Boathouse makes the trip special with incredible views of both the marina and the lake. The house is very well maintained and equipped. We will certainly consider staying here again!
Everyone from NOLA or from out of town should check this "vacation" away from it all but very close to local restaurants, bars and groceries. It is so close to downtown, FQ, City Park and everything our charming city has to offer but you feel a million miles away watching the Pelicans at the lake and sailboat teams go out in the AM. I will be back.
How perfect is this property? My youngest son was literally in tears when we were packing up because he didn’t want to leave. I understood the feeling!
We were traveling to NOLA for a family vacation but didn’t want to stay downtown. This home was perfectly located as it was far enough away to give us a break from the city, but only a 15 minute drive to the major sites. While the pictures are accurate, they don’t really convey how beautiful this home is. It is stunning. Everything was so comfortable. The swings on the back porch are what dreams are made of. I mean truly - I can’t think of one thing that could use improvement. Everything was perfect.
We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and could not have been happier with our experience. The listing, the booking, check in, communication, timely response to an issue, were all above and beyond what was expected. The next time we head to NOLA this will be the first place a check for availability.
Absolutely the best rental property in NOLA if you are there for a sailing event! We watched a week of sailing from front deck! A lovely, comfortable and clean home- ice machine was a huge plus. Would absolutely rent again. And the host was an absolute pleasure to deal with- responds within 5 mins, answers every question and extremely accommodating.
I stayed in New Orleans during the final four. I was disappointed that I had to stay outside the city. After staying at this house, however, I might not stay anywhere else in the future. The view of the lake is amazing, the house is clean and surprisingly spacious, and the property management team couldn’t be more friendly. Thank you for having us!
3rd year staying at the boathouse and another great stay. We were visiting the area for another junior sailing regatta over Thanksgiving and to be this close to the Southern YC is just fantastic. We can also see the racing with binoculars from the front deck. The Owner is on top of everything and we certainly would recommend the boathouse. !
Incredible views, peaceful evenings, comfortable and very well thought out. Located within 5 minutes to numerous restaurants, live music, grocery store, lakefront drive. Easy access to mid-city, downtown.
This property is a newly done redo of a great boathouse in a wonderful location away from Bourbon, but you can get there quickly if you need to. It’s restful and attractive. There are plenty of restaurants to get take out and delivery from. The owner is the best for communication. Any little glitch was addressed quickly.
Simply the best and safest place to stay while in New Orlean. Home is a short drive to the French quarter and many other hot spots. Amazing views, you can sit on the front/back deck and watch the boats in the marina. Beds are nicer than most 5 star hotels I have stayed in. We had two families and all of us had our own personal space. You can’t go wrong with this rental.
