My husband and I stayed at George's cottage for one week. The location was wonderful in terms of being able to walk right into town to get whatever we needed, beach access was right on the other side of the looped driveway, and the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail was only a few minutes away via bike. The cottage was impeccably clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the ability to do laundry and live 'the simple life' was a wonderful gift. We enjoyed the sunsets from both the beach AND right off the deck.
I rated the neighborhood four stars, and this is why: while we strictly adhered to the courtesy of 'no noise at an unreasonable hour' in consideration of the permanent residents on the road, two other houses filled with multiple families with children ranging from ages 1-10 years did not. This is not at all the fault of the cottage owners, but I wanted to include in my review that the master bedroom IS located right next to the neighbor's driveway, where we were woken up each morning between 7:30 am and 9:00 am to screaming children bouncing multiple basketballs. Across the street, the children visiting enjoyed honking the golf cart horn at all hours of the day and well into the evening. Perhaps we were unlucky on that front and it is normally quiet the rest of the year. I figured it was worth mentioning if someone is seeking a child-free trip.
George's cottage was a pleasure to stay in otherwise. My reason for rating communication at four stars was due to a woman slowly driving by the back of the house after a visit with the neighbor, stopping at the end of the driveway and loudly dragging the empty garbage pail down to the garage without so much as a knock or a hello. An email or text would have been appreciated, reminding us that the owner preferred the empty garbage pail pulled in by the garage. Everyone else on the road left their garbage out, and we accidentally overlooked this instruction, for which I apologize. Nobody wants to feel like they're being monitored while on vacation. We rightfully forgot to drag the garbage in, but this felt invasive and unnecessary. Hopefully, my review will be taken as constructive criticism for the benefit of future visitors.
Thank you for the use of your cottage. We made wonderful memories there, and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of our own lives (three children, five dogs, two businesses, etc) to enjoy some quality time together in the beauty of Glen Arbor.
This is our 2d time here. Property is very clean, well stocked, location is perfect. The beach is a few steps away and we had a nice swim, walked to Glen Arbor for dinner and groceries, put our kayaks in at the beach (and elsewhere); biked to the trail and rode North and South. Perfect in every way.
We can't say enough great things about our stay at George's house. It was in the best location - walking distance to downtown and steps to Lake MI beach. The house was well equipped with everything we need and then some. We made some lasting family memories that we are very grateful for. We hope to return again next year.
This is an exceptional property if you want to experience both Glen Arbor and Lake Michigan. The front porch provides a super view of the lake, complete with sunsets (at least in July). Check-in was easy, and a fresh flower bouquet was very welcoming. The master bedroom and bath are modern, spacious and well equipped with linens, towels and fine toiletries. The great room includes a dining table that easily seats 6. There is also a table for four which served us nicely for jigsaw puzzles. We didn’t need the A/C the week we were there, so I can’t comment on its effectiveness. Windows and sliders worked well. The 2nd bedroom is communal, with a double bed and a twin-sized bunk bed. The 2nd bathroom is a bit small for more than 2 people, but otherwise is well equipped. The location can’t be beat: The shared 60-foot lake frontage was never crowded (the largest gatherings were at sunset), and it’s a short walk to all of Glen Arbor. It’s also about a half mile from the Sleeping Bear Heritage trail for easy bicycle access. We were afraid that we would get a lot of nose from Boondocks, but that was never a problem. Noise from neighbors was not an issue the week we were there. I would definitely recommend this property for a group of adults wanting some beautiful solitude while staying close to Glen Arbor.
George was wonderful to work with. Helpful and prompt. The property is the perfect combination of Up North charm and modern convenience. We loved the sunsets and access to the beach while being able to walk to town. The house is well stocked, extremely clean and the beds are comfortable! We can’t wait to go back!
This was a great place - super clean, easy access to the beach, well maintained. Couple of minor things that could make it even better - 1) we bought a broom and dustpan on the second day as there was no vacuum or anything. We were happy to clean the floors a few times (sandy!). 2) the safety rail on the top bunk in the second room had been removed at some point.
All that said, this place was great! Very comfortable and our family would love to return.

Hello Lauren,
I'm so sorry you had to purchase a broom and dustpan. We do have one and a vacuum too, in the back closet by the washing machine. I've added this info to our list of instructions.
I've also inlcuded the location of the bunk rail, which is kept in the bedroom closet.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay – hope to see you back here next year!

This home is perfect! The beach is amazing!! The location from town is walkable so you don’t have to drive! The home is very clean and spacious!! It’s everything we wanted. We can’t wait to go back!!
This house exceeded my expectations. It had everything one could need in a vacation house. It was clean, cozy, had a great view, was walking distance to town and a beach for miles. Located next to loads of private residences on the beach, we were able to walk to the left as far as we could walk. They have a shared private beach that we were able to enjoy all day by ourselves. The house was well equipped with kitchen utensils, soaps, linens, etc. It was exactly what we were looking for in a Glen Arbor vacation spot. We can't wait to go back for a visit!
We loved everything about our stay. The house is well stocked, spacious, clean, quiet, and the setting is spectacular. Wonderful view and of Lake Michigan too. We’d love to come again.
Location cannot be beat - steps from the beach and town. Gorgeous views from inside and the porch. Sparkling clean. This is our new favorite place in Glen Arbor!
First time doing Vrbo - and this property was spectacular! Incredible view of Lake Michigan...lovely place. Lovely city. Lovely view. Private beach. Had a wonderfully restful, restorative vacation.
This cottage was clean, cozy and came stocked with everything we needed. It is steps away from the beach where my kids enjoyed playing in the sand, swimming and paddle boarding. It is a natural spot with a huge window view of wildlife and stunning sunsets. We really enjoyed our stay there!
