About this property

Over 200 acres, pet-friendly, Satellite WiFi, air hockey, & pool tables.

Centrally located for all the Hocking Hills parks or enjoy our property with your group for year-round nature loving . . .this is a great location for all the activities you want to experience.

Deer, turkeys, coyotes, foxes, rabbits, frogs, snakes, many birds, and pheasants have all been spotted on our property. If you want to explore our acreage, note that the path up the large hill behind the home at the lower house is NOT paved and can have deep crevices, wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes. There may be high grass so prepare for that and dress accordingly. During spring and summer the natural brush/grass and wet weather cause quick growth and mowing does occur on a semi-regular rotation, however, it is a "rough" path. Feel free to explore and get lost in nature while there.

The 2-bedroom cabin with 1.5 baths offers a tranquil setting in the woods and a place to make the memories you'll cherish for years to come. This home is in the woods up a gravel driveway that is hilly. You should plan to have an all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicle if visiting during snowy or rainy weather, you can park OUTSIDE the garage and you’ll enter through the garage door. There are stairs after you enter the garage to get to the living space.

Dogs are permitted with an additional fee per dog ($55/per dog and stay) and prior arrangement. If your animal is a service animal as defined by the ADA, we will need documentation provided to waive the pet fee.

No smoking (of any kind) inside the home. If you choose to smoke outside of the home, please remember to be sure the ashes are extinguished and properly dispose of ALL debris.

About the host

Hosted by Tom

Host profile image
We are a group of brothers and sisters who wanted to offer a natural and private setting to experience all of what the Hocking Hills offers in a wooded setting. We are located on a 5-acre parcel that we own, and with additional brothers, we own an adjacent 200+ acre site that surrounds the home.

Why they chose this property

A log cabin built by family members in 1978 with an addition in the '90s currently offering 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms with a mix of modern conveniences and the charm of a log cabin built in the woods and surrounded by nature.

Please bring tick spray or use clothing that is tick repellant treated and/or check yourselves for ticks if you hike the woods. This is not something we can prevent in the woods/acreage.

What makes this property unique

Location convenient to the Hocking Hills area parks in a central rural location.

Access to the hiking area on the property, we are part of the owners of the adjacent 200+ acre property that is also used as a short term rental. Hiking the whole property is available most of the time, the other home sleeps up to 12 people. Please note, the other home's guests may also be hiking the property, however, on 200+ acres it should not be a problem to physically distance.
Things to do nearby/helpful info:
• Parks include: Clear Creek, Conkle’s Hollow, Hocking Hills State Park which includes Ash Cave, Cantwell Cliffs, Cedar Falls, Old Man’s Cave, & Rock House; & Lakes: Alma, Hope, & Logan.
• Canoeing, Zipline Canopy Tours, Scenic Railway, Astronomy Park, Vinton County Airport, Wayne National & Zaleski State Forests, horseback riding, fishing, both Hocking College & Ohio University.
• There are no fish that we are aware of in our ponds/lakes, they are man-made pre-1978 and are not stocked. There are several nearby state parks with fishing available for you should you desire to fish. There is NO swimming in the ponds/lakes.
• WiFi satellite internet service is available (ViaSat max speed is 25-50 Mbps), cell service is SPOTTY in the area. Do NOT plan to be able to get cell reception at the home, it tapers off about 2 miles away. A landline is there for your use.

Plenty to do on-site:
* acreage to hike
* a fire pit (do not cut our trees, if firewood is there, please use it, if desired)
* air-hockey and pool tables
* poker/card table (chips and cards)
* Books for reading
* DVDs library
* Drafting table with pencils, charcoal, and paper
* flat screen TVs with streaming access through Roku® and WiFi
