About this property
The Redlands Guesthouse: Historic District/Pool
The Redlands Guesthouse—unplug and unwind.
Private solitude or social interaction—your time, your space, your choice.
What I love about this space:
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, traveling for business, visiting family or friends, celebrating a graduation, or working on a solo creative project, the Redlands Guesthouse, located in the heart of Redlands' Historic District, is for you. This airy studio oasis, set back from the street and nestled up a flight of stairs in a separate building behind our 1925 Italian Revival home, invites you to relax and rejuvenate while enjoying its restful space inside or basking outside in the sun in the secluded pool area and garden. The Redlands Guesthouse glows with dappled light. Refreshing views of nearby San Bernardino mountains and backyard treetops beckon from every window. Singles, Couples, traveling professionals, and artists will find the space inspiring.
Amenities for work or pleasure:
The Redlands Guesthouse welcomes you with a complimentary bottle of champagne or wine and is fully furnished with all you might need during your stay. The kitchen includes a gas 4-burner stovetop, microwave, coffeemaker, coffee (regular and decaf), creamers, sweeteners, tea assortment, toaster, cooking, basics—spices, sugar, flour, olive oil, oatmeal, granola, & breakfast bars—Calphalon pots and pans, mixing bowls, measuring tools, cookbooks, cooking utensils, place service for 4, sink, dish soap, drainboard, and mini-fridge with freezer. Eat at the expandable pub table, or use the table as a convenient workstation for your laptop. Curl up on the snug, velvety loveseat or on the luxurious queen-size bed and watch your favorite shows on the Internet-connected Smart TV. For work convenience, your e-devices will be equipped with secure high-speed internet and a convenient charging station. Printing, copying, scanning, and fax are available in the main house upon request. The updated and sparkly clean bathroom features Kohler fixtures, hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and extra toiletries in case you forget something. These and an ironing board and iron are the perfect appointments to get you ready for a night on the town, a business meeting, or some other adventure. All fresh linens provided. Washer/Dryer in main house are available upon request. A twin-size Aerobed is available upon request.
Cleaning Practices & Safety:
We use enhanced cleaning and safety measures. Between each guest stay, all surfaces are cleaned with disinfectant, and linens are sanitized. You will be able to check in and check out without any person-to-person contact.
Safety is key here. The guesthouse has a fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, exterior lighting, and first-aid kit—all providing you with protection and peace of mind.
House Rules:
You must be over 25 in order to rent.
Read the house rules and instructions in the Welcome Book as soon as you've settled in.
No Smoking or illegal drugs on Premises. No Pets.
Pool Precautions:
Keep backyard gate shut and latched at all times (pool safety!).
No lifeguard on duty.
No children allowed in backyard unless accompanied by an adult at ALL TIMES.
Quiet Time 10pm-8am. Be respectful of our property and our neighbors. We love them, and we want them happy.
Parking is on the street in front of the house. Arrangements can be made if you need off-street parking.
We live in the main house and you may be sharing the pool and backyard with us and guests.
Cleaning fee is non-refundable. Our amazing housekeeper is worth every penny! She will delight you with a sparkling, fresh and thoroughly clean experience, top to bottom.
The amenities and supplies are for your use during your stay, but please do not take any items with you (except the Redlands-made soaps and oil—those are our gifts to you). If you would like a particular item, let me know, and we can work something out. Some items are made in Redlands and are available for sale from the artisans. The cost for any missing or seriously damaged items will be deducted from your security deposit. The Golden Rule applies: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Thank you.

About the host
Hosted by Kathryn Huff

Hi! Are you new to Redlands? Me, too! My husband and I moved here in August, 2019, and we couldn't be happier with this property, neighborhood, and town. Redlands rocks! I teach writing at the University of Redlands and at Point Loma Nazarene University, so I have a soft spot for writers and other artists. My husband and I sing in the Redlands Community Chorus, and we are active in our church. We LOVE practicing hospitality and want to make sure your experience in our guesthouse is one that makes you want to return again and again. We look forward to meeting you!
Why they chose this property
These are a few of my favorite things:
1. This property has CHARACTER! She's a grand old dame, and will be 100 years old in 2025. Architectural beauty abounds.
2. Mature trees! Redlands is known for its trees, and our property is a showcase for grand trees. We have stately palm, Chinese elm, orange, pomegranate, and redwood trees, all providing dappled shade, coolness, and privacy.
3. Light and treetop views! The many windows in the Redlands Guesthouse flood it with an airy, treehouse feeling that makes me just want to stare out the windows for hours or curl up with a book OR get outside and enjoy all that sun!

What makes this property unique
Artist's Retreat! Because I am a writer, I know the importance of having a room of your own at times for creative pursuits. The Redlands Guesthouse is ideal for an artist's retreat where you can work on your project. Special artist's discount upon approval of sample work and description of your project.
Romantic Getaway! ALSO, my husband and I are romantics, and if you're there with your special someone, you'll find the Redlands Guesthouse--and Redlands in general--to be a great place to nurture and rekindle your love for each other. We're picking up a hot tub this week, and it should be installed soon, hopefully by the time you arrive! The backyard at night is magical, with tiki torches, strings of lights, fire pit, and a fountain. Walk to a romantic restaurant, or grill steaks on the outdoor bbq. XO!
Busman's Holiday! FINALLY, I know that sometimes you just have to work out of town, right? Well, the Redlands Guesthouse provides the privacy and connectivity you'll need to get the job done. Plus, just ask, and I'll be happy to copy, scan, print, or fax for you (small jobs only. For larger jobs, we have printing centers nearby). We're close to ESRI, the University of Redlands, and several area hospitals if you need to do business with any of those places.
