Why Serge and Lannyl Ossorguine chose Sharon
We like Litchfield County and have many friends with homes here. The county has a history of resisting development and preserving historic land and architecture. We like this. The conveniences are there, but somehow, tastefully done. If we ever need the big box stores, Torrington is not too far away, but far enough. We love the easy commute from New York City by train (Metro-North, Wassaic), which is a huge plus for a family with a many-layered schedule. The drive up from New York is very pleasant. Its not a parking lot on Fridays, like roads leading to the Hamptons. The movie house in Millerton is a great place to see new releases, with two screens that are generally 'one for the kids' and 'one for the adults'. There is a great topographical diversity to the landscape; the Housatonic Valley, the lakes, the rolling farmland that suddenly reveals breathtaking vistas as you pass through it.
What makes this House unique
The house itself was built by a very energy conscious designer during the gas crisis years in the 70s. Insulated by the book, to augment electric heat there are 3 swedish wood burning stoves in the bedrooms, and a fireplace in the living room, which very effectively augment the ceiling radiated electric heating system. Lots of light pours into the house through many Anderson windows. All wood floors everywhere except marble in the baths and terra cotta in the kitchen. A previous owner was a landscape architect. The gardens include apple trees, pear trees and islands with decorative grasses, perennials, a bonzai and some aromatics.

Nice view, comfortable house with all the necessary appliances, we enjoyed our stay. The owner is helpful and nice. We’ll return
Paola, Andrea and their group stayed at our property during the peak of the pandemic in New York City. Communication was excellent between us and there was never any time when there was any problem we could not resolve. It is always a good thing for us owners when our guests feel at home in our home. It is doubly good when they treat our home with the same care we do. Good people.
Excellent place to stay
This was a very nice house very roomy beds were excellent the view was great location was good would definitely stay in it again
Wake Up To A Beautiful View!
This cozy home worked perfectly for a weekend stay while attending a wedding at nearby LionRock Farm. It was nice being spirited away from the main road with pastural and mountain views, and we enjoyed setting a fire in the fireplace at night. Sadly we didn't get to spend much time at the house, but if we're ever in the area again we would return to this property!
The perfect peaceful escape!
This a such a magical, peaceful spot to get away! We are so grateful we found it and recommend it heartily.
The property was at a great location. We attended our daughters graduation at Hotchkiss.
We really enjoyed our stay at the property. It was comfortable for my family and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We even heard the turkeys in the morning.
Private lake beach access; Mudge Pond a short drive or bike ride away, where the town beach is clean, safe and not crowded. Lime Rock race track is a short drive away. Winter, skiing areas are very near.
