Come relax in our mountain residence on high mesa grasslands in the heart of the Rockies. This stunning luxury home sits on 35 acres with expansive views of the Elk Mountain range. The natural materials used to build this home speak to the clean living that abounds here in the Roaring Fork Valley. With red oak flooring, trusses and beams crafted from the wood of a Midwest barn, the open-plan is designed to maximize the warmth of the south-facing windows: part solar, part geothermal-heated, a home built for the future. With two master suites, each complete with walk-in closets and private decks looking out on ranchland pastures framed by Mount Sopris, the property boasts 5 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, two living rooms, a workout space for stretching, double steam shower, and seven fireplaces, including three imported English Rumford stone hearths - perfect for year-round relaxation. Fifteen minutes to Whole Foods, 45 minutes to the slopes, with gorgeous spaces to enjoy right on the property. Every detail of the home is tuned to the play of light on the 8,278 square feet of architecture, a celebration of timber, iron, stone, clay, and open space. At the heart of the property is an infinity party pool with waterfall, adding warm waters to the ever-present elements of earth and sky. Please, however, no weddings, elopements, or any kinds of events at our home. These are prohibited.

Summer Vacation

Outstanding property with a beautiful view of Mt Sopris. The location is away from town, a very tranquil setting; yet close to several amazing towns. We hiked in Aspen, biked from Carbonale and paraglided and rafted in Glenwood Springs. The swimming pool on the property was fun to relax in. Coffee on the deck with the hummingbirds was an incredible way to start the day.

Fabulous

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house had so much room for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked and the furniture and the beds were very comfortable. It is a beautiful house and a beautiful property. We saw elk in the yard almost every day. The nearby towns of basalt and Carbondale have plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. We skied quite a bit and the drive was not too bad. We would definitely stay again!

The house is large enough to accommodate two families, with two primary suites, a large kitchen, a generously sized dining table, and two living rooms. The pool is comfortably warm and clean. Family vacation Getaway

This is an amazing property. The pictures are just a sneak peak of what awaits you at this resort home. We traveled in June with our four kids and we had another room/bathroom to spare. All top of the line bathroom amenity and kitchen amenities, including a master steam shower and a pool to get in and soak while enjoying the beautiful views that surround you. Our family "Hallmark" Christmas 2024

This property is beautiful, just like the pictures inside the house which is so spacious and lovely and the views are just breathtaking and ever changing. It's convenient to the surrounding restaurants and shopping and of course sightseeing. Views from the grocery store! Easy checkin and check out. Wonderful owners and manager. We have made such good memories this week and to top it off it started snowing on Christmas Day and continued on and off for days making everything more perfect.

Relaxation at it best

Amazing! Stayed here with my husband, dog 3 other adults and a 8 yr old. The house was laid out perfectly to give all of our guest space and had everything we needed so we didn’t leave much. We enjoyed most of our time on the patio enjoying the pool and taking in the view. You can even get in a short easy hike on the property right from the patio. The kitchen was great and well stocked so we enjoyed cooking in for most meals. No one in our group wanted to leave we had such a great time here, we would definitely come back.

Exactly What We Needed

Our stay was filled with fantastic family time in the pool, on the decks, in the kitchen and in the family rooms. The house is exceptional and we especially appreciated the indoor and outdoor tables that accommodated everyone sitting down to eat and/or play games at once! (This has not always been the case.) We loved the views, the house layout, and outside fireplace which we enjoyed each night the weather was cooperative! Also, the 3 washer/dryer units came in handy as no one had to wait! We would love to visit again!

What a fabulous stay!

My wife and I honeymooned in this wonderful home and location! The house is conveniently located between Aspen and Glenwood Springs — perfectly placed for hiking, shopping, and skiing. The house itself is well appointed and spacious. The pool is heated all year and the afternoon sun made it a perfect hang out spot. The house is right next to a ranch so you can hear the goats and alpacas playing while you drink your coffee. Deer roam around the house in the afternoon as well. The view is unbeatable, with a little hike on the property to get closer to Mt. Sopris. Thanks for making our honeymoon so special!

Gorgeous home perfect for a large group

Absolutely stunning property, inside and out. There were 11 of us in our group with lots of room for hanging out together as a group and plenty of space for time alone. The home offered amazing views, a beautiful modern kitchen, and a heated pool that was incredible. The property outside was beautiful and spacious too and we enjoyed hiking in the snow. The property is exactly as described and everyone wants to go back!

A Colorado getaway we will always remember

Liesl & Pete, Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home with our family and friends. Everything was beyond of what we expected. This was our 2nd annual trip to Colorado, and this home offered everything one would need to have a great relaxation time with their family and kids. The grounds and sights are breathtaking. The home is one of a kind designer home, and the heater pool was awesome. We did get lucky with great weather as well. We highly recommend this home to everyone, it is close to many places like Aspen/Glenwood Springs and some awesome off-road trails. We hope to be back here some day !!!

The perfect western getaway

Our Carbondale home is a testament to our decades of Himalayan work in film, mountaineering, exploration, and archaeology. My husband, Pete Athans, is a 7-time Everest climber and Himalayan explorer. We both have strong ties to the Roaring Fork Valley and Colorado, having lived here off-and-on for the past 35 years. We are grateful for the wonderful relationships we've established through this sharing platform which is similar in spirit to the gift economy model I co-founded called the Buy Nothing Project. We're big believers in the importance of human connection through creatively sharing.
